Words fail me with this book, in a good way. This correspondence between Pam Houston and Amy Irvine is beautifully written and wonderfully open, and is a call to arms. I‘ll not soon forget it.
I really enjoy Pam Houston‘s writing and so was pleasantly surprised that my new-to-me copy of this book was inscribed and signed. Unfortunately my name isn‘t Kimberly. I wonder who she is/was and how the book left her possession?
Just received this today and have enjoyed just looking at it - looking forward to slowly savouring this one.
Loved this book - Matt Haig has a way with words. I‘ve also been reading The Comfort Book.
I‘ve been putting off reading this since Christmas over a fear of it sounding too good to be true.
Gonna bite the bullet now though.
I wanted to like this since I‘ve heard mostly good things about it, but I‘m 20% percent in and find the characters annoying. With the number of books in my TBR pile (and I‘m not getting any younger), it‘s time to bail and move on.
I‘m still afraid to read The Midnight Library (will it live up to the hype?) so am going with this instead.
Good suspenseful read but I can‘t buy into one part of the ending.
“But we never get away with anything even when we get away with it. We‘ve just put it on credit and one day, we‘ll pay. With interest on all the sorrow and fear that have accumulated.”
I love this series and usually end up laughing out loud while reading these books. Funny action is right in my wheelhouse.
Squee! I love Connie Willis. This was a cute fun story, although I wish it had arrived before Christmas. It didn‘t hit me in quite the same way as her previous novella (I Met A Traveller In An Antique Land - I sobbed over that one) did, but I still enjoyed it.
My mother raved to me about this book and told me I have no heart if I don‘t cry over it. Let‘s see if it‘s worth the hype.
Ok, I‘m a little past the season for reading this one but I‘m certainly not going to wait until next Christmas to read it.
I really enjoyed Alan Doyle‘s latest book so decided to backtrack a bit with his second book.
I‘m a sucker for dog books, especially about beagles.
I bawled my eyes out over Lily & The Octopus. Let‘s see how Steven Rowley‘s next book turns out.
Mikey and I are both up past our bedtime. Shhhh!
A friend recently introduced me to Fluevog shoes, so it was fascinating to read about the man behind some of my favourite shoes.
I love this author‘s sense of humour - this made me LOL.
Finally! A book that doesn‘t make me feel I‘m a failure for not having a spotless home, and understands that sometimes I‘m lazy and just don‘t want to do housework. I‘m not very far in but I‘ve already implemented some of the tips. Thanks to Patricia at BookRiot for highlighting this one on the All The Backlist podcast!
Saw this on the @bookriot Instagram page and had to share. Bahaahaaa!
Mikey says “Stop trying to drop hints, Mom. I already AM a good creature.”
This is so me. Quote is from “Belting It Out” by Amanda Lang, on pages 94 & 95 of the book “The Awesome Music Project Canada.”
This book was just released today for World Mental Health Day, and my copy arrived today - I‘m very much looking forward to reading it.

Starting book 7 of the year and am wondering just how much of a gut-punch this one will be.
Holy crow, I had no idea that this book I picked up at a library book sale was actually a signed copy.
Up next on deck, book 4 of the year. Mikey-Cat wouldn‘t be sleeping so peacefully if he knew what was beside him!
Just finished this one. It was a great read; I LOL‘d and snickered several times.
“‘The Book‘... is rectangular because cows, goats, and sheep are rectangular too.” I love this quote from p331 of ‘The Book‘ by Keith Houston. A very enjoyable read that brought back some of the information I learned in my Graphic Communications courses.

Reading goal set for 2019. Slight increase for this year: 1 per week, plus 1 every 4 months.

“Really, Mom - don‘t you have enough stacks of unread books on your bookcases?” Maybe, but they were missing THESE books.

I never expected to find a quote from The Princess Bride in this book!
Finally getting around to reading this lovely object. It‘s so nice to read a book that uses good paper!
Made my goal of reading at least a book a week! Yay!
“And what about the cat who saved you, Mom‽”
Went to an author event this evening, Kate Atkinson in Conversation. Thoroughly enjoyed it - what a smart, funny woman. And not only did she sign the new one for me, but she also signed the other two I brought. Mikey-Cat was really enjoying the soft-touch lamination on the dustjacket of the new one, but is wondering about the significance of the flamingo.
Woo-whooo! I‘m gonna go hear LeVar Burton read!!!
I read this one years ago (borrowed from the library) and it‘s stuck with me. Going to see if it lives up to memory. Mikey-Cat though couldn‘t care less.
Went to an event this evening put on by Ben McNally Books in Toronto - A Conversation With Miriam Toews. Very interesting. And funny. And thought-provoking. And I bought a copy of her book and got it signed. Squeeeeeeeee!!!
