And here is my friend, Kirsty, telling TJ Klune how Cerulean Sea got her through bunion surgery 😁🤣

Bk7 of #20in4 #readathon & Bk12 of May is done! Wow, have I caught up on my reading or what. Helps that I haven‘t been sleeping much this weekend, pain sux. I loved this book so much. Every character was brilliant(except for DiCOMY & some villagers), the setting was perfect & the romance so sweet. It was the happy ending I needed after the Wayward Children books. Highly recommend.🩵🩵 #FourFoursIn23 #NoBuy2023Bingo #TBRTarot #Roll100 #ReadySetRead
Next book up is the 1st T.J.Klune book I bought. Would you believe I‘ve bought most of the books he‘s released so far(I think)but haven‘t actually read any of them yet? I‘m about 4 chapters in and loving it so far, I did try to read it previously but I guess it just wasn‘t the right time for it. Once I‘ve finished this I‘ll move onto Under The Whispering Door, then Wolfsong then In The Lives Of Puppets. #20in4 #readathon
Linus is a by-the-book case worker that checks on orphanages for magical children, which is why he was chosen to check on the extraordinary cases at the far away house run by Arther Parnassus.
Once Linus allows himself to relax and see the residents as more than their magical type, he discovers love and a family he never imagined he could have.
Oh, how wonderful. How profound. How immeasurably more beautiful this journey becomes, the more it is re-read and cherished. I revisited this old friend as a palette cleanser of sorts. I'd loved my previous book so, and needed something familiar. I couldn't have chosen a better book. There's a dazzling and wholly simple profundity on each and every page. If only the world would listen to the messages within. A tale of hope & found family. Magical.
2023 Reads Continued....
I'm an aging cynical homosexual who teared up way too many times at this wonderfully written found family story.
LF : I was a little disappointed how the finale wrapped it all up but also a little sad to say goodbye to the Roci Crew.
I think I may be the last person in the world to read this book 😂 I liked it but I didn‘t love it as much as I loved Under the Whispering Door. Possibly this was not the best book to read at the moment - moving house, starting a new job, finding somewhere to rent 🤯
This book stole my heart! It‘s one of those stories that nourishes your soul. It‘s like a big fluffy warm blanket on a cold night. I fell in love with the characters and will miss them now that they are gone. Oh Linus you are a gorgeous man! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I‘ve heard this book is wonderfully gay, so, since I‘m starting it today, here‘s a few pics from this year‘s queer youth prom! We had a great time volunteering to ensure all the kids had a magical and affirming night! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🖤🤎
While there are undertones of heavier subjects, they accent the story and embellish the heartfelt messages of acceptance and found family. The witty banter between characters as they learn to trust one another will charm you. By the end, you‘ll have a smile on your face and a fond memory of all the adventures Linus and the children embarked on.

Cute audiobook. Will I be able to finish it by tomorrow?!
#audiobook
Still on my TBR but I have heard good things. One of these days I‘ll read it 😊

March #friendschoice in my 12 month #friendsreadingchallenge 📚 Listening to audiobook and already loving these #magical children!
Because even the bravest of us can still be afraid sometimes, so long as we don‘t let our fear become all we know.
Reread for book club. Even better the second time!!!!
Met the author at the Dallas Museum of Art. A wonderful evening full of laughs and tears and the power of queer literature! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Although the Etymologicon was an excellent book that I will probably listen to again it just didn‘t give me the warm fuzzy feeling that House in the Cerulean Sea did. And it‘s winter so I need warm and fuzzy! Can‘t wait to see what will become March‘s favourite as I have some good ones on the go currently!
Woohoo! 🎉 @Lizpixie It‘s time for a little vacation 😉 You got #trappedonanisland with some glorious sunshine, and a handful of books. I hope you enjoy these! I‘ve read and ADORED The House in the Cerulean Sea, and the others are all on my TBR. Can‘t wait to see how you rate them ☀️
4 stars ⭐️
I found the writing style of this story to be absolutely charming, and I fell in love with the children. There were things I didn't agree with - my heart aches for the author as he makes it clear that Christians have really hurt him - but I want to focus on what I really loved about the message of this book: it's profoundly pro-life. Everyone deserves a chance, and love, no matter their story. Every single person has value.
This was cute. I don‘t feel like I loved it as some people do, but it was a feel-good story with some good life lessons. I have to admit that Chauncey did steal my heart. 🥰
1. It may have been the tagged book? I remember talking about it with my coworker who recommended it…
2. It‘s very much a bell curve. Most books are 3 or 4 stars with the rest being outliers. I rarely give 1 star because I‘m more likely to DNF if it‘s that bad.
3. Sometimes. If there is nonsense coming from the study, I might just pop in my ear buds and listen to Symphony Hall.

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The audiobook performance was ah-may-zing! Every character sounded precisely the way they were written. Such an uplifting, inclusive, and funny story about the family you choose. Extremely Upper Management may not approve, but I sure do!
Decided to cook some yummy baked potato soup so I could keep listening to this one. Even though I own the print version, the library had the audiobook available. Sweet surprise, especially since my next audiobook hold is ~7 weeks out.
My first book of the month for 2023 reading bracket was a very easy choice. Thanks again to @chasjjlee for making this 😊
Cute story! Even if you are different you still have a place to belong ❤️
I loved this book so much. It reminded me a lot of Miss Peregrine which I really enjoyed. I loved the magical elements in the book and the writing. This author never disappoints me when I read his books. They are always so fun and happy to read!
2nd 5 ⭐️ read of the year. I know I am late to the game on this one, but it was amazing. So funny, witty, and heartwarming. I Lol‘d many time with this one. Chauncey was my favorite! ♥️♥️
I enjoyed this audiobook. It was better than under the whispering door. Splendid mixture of fantasy, reality & cute characters . I like the overall message of this book about prejudices. It started off very well but later dragged a bit. Ending is just fine. Great Audio narration. 4⭐️#bookspinbingo
I rarely listen to audiobooks, but the wonderful @DebbieGrillo recommended listening to this one at our last bookclub. She wasn‘t wrong! This book is so great in audio format. I would have enjoyed this book either way but listening to it brought all the feels. I laughed , I cried…. This book is simple and layered all at the same time. It is the most joyful book I have “read” in a long time! 4/5 ☺️
1/23 oh boy did I love this book. Not only was it magical & wonderful & queer but it was also one of a small number of books that I in some way connect to as the parent of a child with complex needs. A child who is beautiful & clever and funny but also challenging and violent. These books have a special place in my heart for showing how multifaceted people are and love is. 5⭐️ Also when Klune wrote his thanks I was in hospital with a 3 day old 😍
It wasn't exactly my cup of tea but still it was an enjoyable read.
A new favourite. The hype is all deserved. A perfect balance between recognizing the myriad harms done by prejudice, and allowing a sweet love story to unfold among an adorable found family, and the strength to act for change that can come from that love.
I have had ENOUGH of my children today. So I‘ve told my hubby I need 10 minutes alone and I‘m spending it with these children instead. Because sprites, wyverns and Antichrist‘s are much nicer to be with then my kids right now!!
I got healing by this story, by every detail written and also cried out a lot while reading this one. Every line every conversation made me sobbing, this book brought me on a full journey plein of emotions from suprise to joy to sadness to heart breaking and end with happiness fullfilled my heart. This book to me was a warm hug I'm always looking for, such a pleasure to finally read this one.
“It‘s the little things. Little treasures we find without knowing their origin. And they come when we least expect them. It‘s beautiful, when you think about it.”
I LOVED this book and I normally don‘t care for fantasy! Under The Whispering Door is getting moved up!

#TopRead2022
I had so many great reads in 2022! So many psychological thrillers!!
Razorblade Tears was also top on my list!!
Half way through and I'm loving this, seem like a at-least-4-stars review

@Lizpixie here are the titles I have chosen for you for #trappedonanisland. The top 3 titles would work for prompts in the #ispybingo if you're participating. 😉
Happy Reading! 📚
This will be my final physical book of 2022. I‘m very much hoping to get it finished for #booked2022 #hopepunk by tonight! So far I‘m absolutely in love with it and I think it will make my top books of the year list!
This is probably my most loaned/gifted/recommended book of the year!
But I read 2 other stellar books in July:
Unfamiliar Fishes by Sarah Vowell
The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

My pick for January has been very popular on Litsy since it came out in 2020 and I‘m often late to the party on books and in real life. Lol. I love this book. The story and characters are wonderful. I know it‘s one I will reread again.
A lovely and descriptive novel about people who are different and the discrimination they face. Our world would be a much better place if everyone read this book! It also makes me want to break a rule or two. Sometimes I can get caught up with following rules and regulations and not enjoy life as I should.
Read this for #hopepunk for #booked2022 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was heartfelt and adorable and all the characters popped off the page for me. Teared up a few times as well.
This marks the completion of #booked2022 for me. Onto next year's challenge!
@Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage
Okay but this book was sooooo goood. I loved everything about this and CHAUNCEY stop. He was so cute. 😭😭😭 The audiobook is the way to go to hear the funny and sweet character voices.
Although, I immediately ordered a hard cover so I can reread it and tab all my favorite quotes. (There's a lot)
A 7/5 star read. One of the top 2 I've read all year. !
