Sugar Run: A Novel | Mesha Maren

Another one that I powered through recently. Again, another tough subject due to LGBTQ relationships, a crime, and the survival of a unit with kids and trying to find a place and a sense of belonging. There was some positive notes to this, but it felt rushed, disjointed and sadly disappointing. I would have #DNF‘ed it, but something forced me to keep going. 3⭐️😕 #recentlyread #nospoilers

A book that I was able to finish recently. It was interesting in some of its personal parallels. A boy that took an exam to come to the US from Russia as an exchange student, due to his brilliance with languages. A wrongful accusation. A struggle for the truth. And a struggle for understanding. Poignant, emotionally charged, and well written. It will stay with me for some time. 4.5/5 #recentlyread #nospoilers

Exceptionally late review, and probably an #unpopular opinion, but I bought this to continue the series and although I was still impressed, it felt a little rushed, disjointed and just not quite there for me. Perhaps it's the ending, perhaps it's something else. But for me it's 3.5 ⭐. #recentlyread #nospoilers #YAfiction #YAFantasy 👸

Borrowed this 2 weeks ago, and it sat. 😮 July 29th e-mail that it is due back August 1st, on hold and cannot be renewed. 🤔 326 pages later.... 🤯 What did I just read? How does he come up with this? How is it so plausible? And, wow. ❤️ #recentlyread #nospoilers #dystopian #scifi #crazygood

#uglylocationchallenge (graffiti wall in town within a few blocks of where I work). Also, this series is intense. There is trigger warnings of uncomfortable topics, but the two main characters are a blast to read about, and you can't help but admire the mastery of the unsub. Also, hello cliffhanger. #recentlyread #nospoilers #mysteryfiction #unsub #profiling #serialkiller #toughread #seriesfiction 😮⚠️🔞🤔🖤

So... This was one of those "hold on, what's the hype, and then BLAM" gorgeous epic scifi creations that are so near and dear to my heart. Case in point: 200+ pages that flew by in one night. And then my heart melted. #recentlyread #nospoilers #sciencefiction #Incredible #pleaseread ??❤️

This was a fascinating story. It was interesting to read about New York and the buckaneer culture when it was alive and thriving. The ruthlessness of the murder and the gleeful circus-like treatment of the final punishment was very skillfully, almost journalistically, described. #recentlyread #nospoilers #crimefiction #blameLitsy #blameMrBook #LITSYloveslibraries ❤️😎

I made the mistake of picking up this book before Oryx and Crake, not realizing it was part of a trilogy. Also, the passages written by Adam One I just couldn't stomach. I felt like I was glimpsing an alternate reality, which made me uncomfortable, because in a strange way it is possible. Otherwise, the story was engaging and fascinating. Toby and Ren make for interesting narrators. #recentlyread #nospoilers #sciencefiction #dystopian #matwood

I am a huge fan of Greek mythology. And the story of the Odyssey is one of my favorites. That being said, it was fascinating to read about Odysseus and some of the other characters from a completely fresh, new and interesting perspective. She makes classical literature fun. She makes adventure stories relatable, poignant and memorable. I will definitely pick up anything she writes. #recentlyread #nospoilers #mythology #CIRCE #yessss ❤️😊🎉

This book was another fascinating installment from this wonderful series. As the story has progressed, more and more interesting supporting characters have been added, and it is a testament to the authors talent that the storyline remains interesting, the historical facts remain on point and the reader (or at least me, anyway) cares more and more for the twins (while having mixed feelings for the Flamel). #recentlyread #nospoilers #YAFANTASY
