Four short stories from the world of TJ Klune‘s Tales of Verania series. I haven‘t read it, but I sure want to after reading this. This is definitely for adults. There is plenty of swearing and it gets a bit spicy in places. If you‘ve read anything by Sarah J. Maas, Rebecca Yarros, or Alexis Hall you‘ll be fine with this. But, given their track record, even given a chance, WILL they learn anything? Of all the chances they have has thus far, HAVE they learned anything? Part of me wants to tell Lucy to have at it! If the “anti-Christ” can want to change people‘s minds so they will be more accepting of others, that‘s probably pointing at a problem with people never learning from their own pasts than a need to be given a chance to learn something new. Just saying.

This is my biggest pick of the year. Hands down. This book is SO poignant and even more beautiful. I laughed, a lot. I cried happy tears, a lot. I‘m not a crier, so that‘s really saying something. I inhaled this book. I couldn‘t stop reading. I couldn‘t stop listening. Read this book with some tissues and an understanding that anyone who can see or hear you are going to think you‘re crazy (and that‘s okay)! It‘s absolutely worth it.

There were parts I sort of spaced out on, ironically enough. I have long since heard about mindfulness in other places, so it felt like an inferior and unnecessary rehash. This book seriously made me love Simu Liu even more than I already did. This made me laugh in multiple places. The acknowledgments made me cry, only partly because he was pretty much crying. This was a real rollercoaster. Highly recommend.

My high school mascot was the colonels, and I feel this so hard! Every foreign language teacher would try to teach us the word for colonel in whatever language. We also talked about how the English version made no sense! I cannot imagine trying to learn this word as someone from a completely different language group.

I think I loved this collection even more than Legends & Lore. I didn‘t know any of these stories, and I greatly enjoyed all of these. Both of these books include the absolutely lovely narration of Alan Kelly. Highly recommend!

I love Irish folk tales, so this was right up my alley. I only knew the story of the salmon of knowledge before listening to this. It was fun hearing different stories. I highly recommend this collection to anyone interested in Irish folklore and mythology.
