This book was SO good! I stayed up till 4 am to finish it. I cant remember the last time I did that. When I finished I was shocked at the time, I had no idea how long I had been reading. Oops. There were so many surprises and it was so suspenseful I couldn't put it down. I can't give detais because I'd hate to spoil anything. I'll be going to the library today forRuth Ware's other books!

Bookworm1987 This is the only book of hers I havent read. 9h
Bookworm1987 Loved all her other books though so i'm sure i'll enjoy this one. 9h

Day 31 - #Cabin #WomanInCabin10 #RuthWare #LetsTravelAugust

I found this book to be a quite a page-turner. I did, however, find a lot of the story to be unbelievable but it did make for a good fiction story. I think the characters were a little under-developed and hard to identify with but the plot did hold my attention. I would, however, recommend this book to those who like psychological thrillers. 3.5 stars

OriginalCyn620 I pretty much felt the same! 👍🏻 3w

98% of this book was great. I really enjoyed the plot with its twists and turns but the end left something to be desired. A bit anticlimactic but still an entertaining read. I still recommend if you want a pretty quick easy read.

I think the twist came early in this one, and last little bit on the ending was a little confusing. Worth a read. #46 #2019

I liked this one so much better than In A Dark, Dark Wood. I would give it like 4.5 stars, it kept me guessing what was going on but then I felt the ending was very rushed.

It wasn't half bad, and I hadn't expected the twist when it came, but it certainly wasn't as “thriller“ as I had expected. I found Lo to not be a very enjoyable/likeable character. There was SUCH a heavy focus on her diagnosis and the believablility of her story because of her mental health condition that it drove me nuts. I feel like the author kind of used it as a crutch. And overall, she was a bit too nosy for my taste. Overall, decent, though.

jb72 Yeah I wasn‘t thrilled with this book either. I felt like the MC could‘ve and should‘ve known better about many things in the book (like taking meds and drinking). 1mo
LogiKitty @jb72 agreed! Which is funny because she rationalizes it and tries to make a good argument for why it's fine for her (since she's done it for so long) 1mo

This was such a great book. My first read by Ruth Ware and now I want to read all her books. I would highly recommend this book especially if you like thrillers. She is an excellent writer who makes sure that you will continue to question what you know or what you think you know until the final page.

Meh. I really wanted to like it but it just never came together for me. A journalist invited on a maiden voyage of a cruise ship thinks she sees a woman killed. Her pursuit of the truth creates enemies and more questions than answers. Seemed overwrought...but that could have been the narrator. On the line between a pick and so-so, but since I think my opinion could have been different if I read in print, I'm giving a pick.

MelissaSue81 yeah.. I had many questions at the end of this one. I liked it.. but I wanted more answers.
2mo
Rachel_nyc This one didn‘t quite work for me either. Half the decisions the MC made seemed to be to move the plot along rather than be something the character would actually do. 2mo
cathysaid @MelissaSue81 Given the general direction of the book, I think any “answers“ would have been rather implausible anyway. Huge gaps in many areas and exhausting detail in others. 🙄 2mo
cathysaid @Rachel_nyc Exactly. I think it could have been interesting but the MC and the other major female player simply annoyed me! 2mo
BookNAround I didn‘t like this one. I‘m over the unreliable narrator with a drinking or drug problem which causes others to discount their observations. 1mo

I was definitely entertained, but the more I think about the plot, the more problems I have with it. It started to lose me towards the end.

marleed That happens to me sometimes too! When I finished Little Fires Everywhere I thought I liked it. The more I thought about the author having a slant toward Maya‘s character the more it bugged me. Now I have to remind myself that I did like it upon finishing! 2mo

Booktastic Your answer to #1 made me think of how Dax Shepard is always talking about Misophonia on his podcast - often regarding not eating while they record because of people having such negative reactions to hearing that. In this thriller, the MC has a #WindowSeat to what she thinks is foul play - she witnesses a woman fall overboard. Yet, the MC is very unreliable, and no one believes her story. Is she telling the truth?

This has received mixed ratings on Litsy. I actually liked this one. The opening scene had my heart pumping, and I tend to gravitate toward unconventional main characters. #LilithJuly

That moment when you buy a book by its cover and it turned out to be dissapointing. The way the author writes is not that bad but...lord, does she have misconceptions. About fat people, about having a certain age. And she is so anxious and self-centred. Like the Earth spins around her. She seems to have no hobbies, because she observers everything. Every fucking detail.

And sometimes she is shameless. Like kissing a man's pubes. Cmmon.

All I can say is WOW. I personally don‘t believe Ware introduced this book properly as the beginning was horribly confusing. However after about 100 pages or so I was HOOKED. Wares plot reminded me of Agatha Christie‘s and I truly never saw the ending coming

I wasn't a fan of this one. It started out strong but the pacing of the book seemed off. And I really didn't like the main character.
This was my first book by Ruth Ware. Maybe I'll give her another chance but this isn't a book I would recommend.

This book was just okay for me. I started getting really frustrated with her situation and I was just ready for it to be resolved. I did really like the ending. After reading this and "In a Dark, Dark Wood" it's obvious that Ruth Ware followed a similar story arc. I wouldn't recommend to a friend or family member, but it wasn't a terrible read. Once the story picked up, I finished it in 3 days. But the first 150 pages really dragged.
