Well, Amazon did not deliver the book I wanted today, so I found this in my house. Something has to scratch the book habit itch that I‘ve started in the last few months… Not sure where it came from, but I‘m not mad at it. So far it‘s giving Alice in Londonland. 50 pages in and I‘m intrigued.
Preferring crime novels with some excitement and a reasonable amount of action, both of these attributes were missing from this story. However it was a book I chose to read simply because it was historical fiction in the literal sense having been written 91 years ago.It could be classed as a cosy mystery but without the present day embience and warmth that you come to expect. While it was a good read I do like a more modern style of writing.
#roll100 another absolutely beautiful novel from Elif Shafa - she has such a talent for description and drawing you into the lives of her characters. Heartbreaking that so much of this is based on true events.
Pop icon & Grammy winner Harlow Hayes is arrested for murder. Tabloid journalist Naomi Barnes, who still grieves the death of her sister, is to cover the story. Is Harlow Hayes a cold-blooded killer?
You could tell the fun Kelly and Kristina Mancaruso had writing Rumoured and the deep sisterly bond they share is palpable throughout the book in the MC and her relationship with her sister.

This was a good book to spend a lazy Sunday yesterday reading. It wasn't perfect but it held my interest and I wanted to see how it concluded. I liked that when the main character put together the clues in the end, she didn't act confused or doubt herself and she took decisive action.
Heard Esther on the radio . It was from the Sydney Writers festival , not recent I don‘t think. I didn‘t realise her first book was Hideous Kinky . I saw the movie with Kate Winslett and loved it. This book is about 3 generations of women. I found it difficult at first to keep track of the characters as they had alternating chapters but finally got the hang of it. It all comes together nicely. Loved it.
