I loved this book!!!! It was beautifully written.

I am ashamed to say I had this book on my shelf for a couple years and wasn't super in a hurry to read it, since bible stories aren't my grab, but THIS BOOK. What a wonderful story of the camaraderie and strength of women, of girls who become mothers and midwives and aunts and champions for each other. I loved this perspective of Dinah's story and am so glad I finally read it.

Only three pages in and I found the title. One of my favorite things! Also, I can already tell I'm going to love this book.
My mom recommended this book to me after her book club read it one month. Found it in a thrift store and thought, why not? My mom and don‘t really have the same taste in books so she hardly recommends any to me, but I can see why people like this already. I am more into Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk and Mario Puzo so this style of writing is different for me. So far, a beautifully written story. 🤗
It took me a while to get into it at first, and I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a biblical inspired story. But I thouroughly enjoyed this historical fiction account of the life of Dinah. I love experiencing how women live in different times and/or settings. Would recommend to any woman who likes hisfic. I wouldn't say it was religious necessarily, so don't be put off by the inspiration (if, like me, that's not your thing).
I've had this book for years and haven't read it yet, even though I knew I'd love it.
This line is a great reminder of how much of women's history is oral. A woman's hands were always supposed to be busy doing the "menial" housework, but they were so often family historians, artisans, and experts in medicine.
#MarchIntoThe70s According to the Zohar, the Book of Jewish Mysticism, the Red String protects us from conscious & unconscious stares, the Evil Eye. Red String is wrapped 7 times around the Tomb of Rachel.
Kabbalists believe that by seeking the Light of holy persons, such as Rachel (the Jewish Matriarch)we can use her powerful influence to assist us. Tagged book is a powerful retelling of Dinah, daughter of Jacob & Leah ( Rachel‘s sister).
I don‘t do a lot of retreading, but it had been over a decade since I read this one and it was on my mind. Even better then I remembered.
AMAZING !! Drop everything you are reading currently and read this one ! I love how Anita gave Dinah a more personal story that is not just a tale of woe ( as in Scripture), But a tale of life and love. 💙You know those books that stay with you even after you finish them? A day later and still thinking all about this story.
Day 30! I love The Band's Visit and find it incredibly underrated. The music is beautiful and Omar Sharif is my favorite song. I read the tagged book when I was an English major. I believe it was for Women in Literature. I loved it and my mind went right to this book at the prompt. #MusicalNewYear @Cinfhen @vivastory
I wasn‘t wild about the Red Tent. I think the historical and cultural details were well done (I‘m no expert). It certainly was well written. I liked the plot centering on women. Still, I wasn‘t particularly interested in the biblical tale. Also, life was brutish and short, and not much fun to read about.

I have finished "The Red Tent" this evening. Took a little longer because I had band camp to coach this month, but I finished and very much enjoyed the novel! I will be sending it off in the next day or so!
I was a little nervous to read about a person from the Bible when I do not consider myself a religious person, but this story is so much more than a little blurb from a text. Diamant expertly weaves a story together to depict the life of a women named Dinah, to give us an insight into the women's world of ancient times. Great historical fiction read for those who want to see how a strong woman can get through life's tragedies.
1. My Morning Jacket.
2. My goal was to read 50 books, and I've fallen way behind on my tracking. I may have hit my goal? If not, I'm close!
3. Zero time. 😭
4. Nope. Lots of people around here don't lock their doors.
5. I once walked straight into Forest Whitaker in a movie theatre lobby because I was reading (the tagged book) and walking.
This book is riveting and I enjoyed it immensely. It speaks of strength and courage beyond reckoning. I would recommend this book to all women everywhere! If you are a woman you need to read this book!

Ok #GroupO this is my pick for #LMPBC . I'm sending along the T-Rex Journal with it for notes. I'm sorry but I just can't bring myself to write in a book lol. Hope we all like it!

I put off reading this book for YEARS. I actively did not buy, borrow, or bring it home. A few weeks ago there was a lone copy at the used bookstore. I felt MAYBE I should just listen to the book. So I paid for it, let it sit in my pile until last weekend. I SHOULD NOT have shied away from this book. I laughed loudly, cried softly. Learning & loving right along with Dinah. This is a book that will stick with me forever.
Here‘s my very ambitious TBR for #readathon tomorrow. A couple of these are already in progress, but I‘m so excited to finally be reading the tagged book! I got it at a library sale last year and am finally ready for it.. I think 😉 #historicalfiction #AprilBookishMadness

Wonderful day in NY, got to meet a new Litten @CoffeeK8 reconnected with a friend @DivineDiana and got a chance to listen to two literary goddesses discuss their writing; Anita Diamant & Alice Hoffman🙌🏻💗 #BestDayEver 😊
If you follow the stories of the bible and do not enjoy any creative liberties be taken with said stories, this is not the book for you. If you can remember this is a book of fiction loosely written around the story of Dinah, you may
Overall, the author wrote a very compelling story that did keep the reader wanting to keep reading it. She took a big risk by telling a story of fiction surrounding the story of Dinah.
I hated every assigned read in school purely because I'm stubborn and hate being told what to read. So for #riotgrams day 19, my #favoriteschoolread is a book I got to select myself. I wrote a personal narrative paper as a high school junior using this book for my English class. It was already one of my favorites, and it remains one to this day.
