“Let us love for a little while, for a year or so, you and me. That‘s a form of divine drunkenness that we can all try.”

Haven‘t read a short story since taking English in college several years ago ... gotta say, I kind of missed this format! Quick enough to finish in an afternoon, but still leaves you thinking. F. Scott Fitzgerald is always a 💎

I just finished this one today and it was absolutely fantastic. Fitzgerald manages maintain a “Gatsby-like” essence in this book as his description of needless extravagance and material excess is nothing short of mesmerizing. It was like reading a mixture of Gastby, The Most Dangerous Game, and Oceans 11. Such a fun, short read! Only 115 pages!

Ms.Bursey I heard it was super good !! I definitely have to check it out now 8mo
DrSpalding I am proud of your additional readings! I truly enjoyed the Great Gatsby. 8mo

Pickpick

A tiny cheat for #192019 - Howl was published in 1956 ... but the graphic novel didn‘t happen until 2010 (don‘t quote me). Still, I‘m glad I read it in this format - it‘s exquisite - a perfect companion to the poem.

GatheringBooks oooh looks nice! graphic novels are perfect for #24in48 10mo
Sweettartlaura @GatheringBooks They really are - and I picked some winners this time 🙌🏻 10mo

Mehso-so

This was a lot more philosophical and sexual than I thought it would be. I listened to it on audiobook and I feel that did it a disservice as many of the passages are ones that need to be studied and thought over. I‘ll probably come back to it again sometime, or else look up an analysis on it.

I first heard about this book 6-7 years ago, but only just few months ago I finally got my own copy of it. For years, I checked libraries and bookstores in search of this book, but no one had a clue what was I talking about. It became a personal quest to find it. And now when it's time for me to read it, I'am equally excited and scared that it won't fullfill my expectations. #makemereadit #bookaweek #modernclassic 📚📓🎬📓

ReadingSusan Gorgeous cover. But also shocking the libraries and bookstores didn‘t know what it was. That‘s 🍌!! 1y
zezeki @ReadingSusan I live in Croatia, and the book wasn't as popular back then as it has become recently. I'm not even sure that there was a Croatian translation of it at that time. 1y
tammysue So gorgeous! 1y
zezeki @Tanisha_A @CoffeeNBooks @kellyann28 It's a good filter that I've found, I have to admit. It added a bit drama to it. 😁 1y

I'll Never Be Young Again | Daphne Du Maurier

Not feeling the usual love for du Maurier :/.
I don't like the male protagonist at all. He's controlling and selfish. I like the theme of an almost Beat plot but am struggling to enthuse.
