So I‘m a sucker for a good cover...and I loved this cover...plus I got it for free from Goodreads...BUT I just couldn‘t get through the book. The writing was just really amateurish.

Hmm.... an old lady in an asylum with an interesting past and her psychiatrist trying to find out more details. This book really dragged on for me until about 1/4 to the end. Apparently there is a movie also, maybe I‘ll check it out.

I read this at my son‘s recommendation, who never reads but had to read this for school. This was my first time reading it and it really was a worthwhile read.

Three years ago I got lasik. This week they told me I have to start wearing reading glasses. Now I remember how much I hate wearing glasses! 😀

rretzler Ugh, yes. I‘ve worn contacts for 30+ years and am now at the point where I can either wear my multi-focal contacts so I can mostly see distance and sorta see my phone, but wear glasses for reading and computer (80% of my time) OR not wear contacts and wear glasses to see my computer, drive and just walk around basically. Either way, I end up wearing glasses most of the time 🙁 2mo

An Improbable Pairing | Gary Dickson
post image
Mehso-so

1960s, young man from America travels to Europe to go to graduate school. Sees beautiful woman on boat and is introduced via a mutual acquaintance. After they part from the trip, he constantly thinks of her and ends up meeting with her again as they start a love affair. This book was fair. The plot was decent but the details of the rooms they were in or the close they were wearing was a bit too much for me.

Ugh...I have to bail on this one. I so enjoyed The Devil in the White City but this one is way too boring for me with the he wrote this and she wrote that 🙄

cathysaid I really enjoyed this one, but I did have to skip/skim a few pages for the sake of my relationship with Larson. 😳 4mo
Zelma I felt the same way about this one. I tried it on audio and had to bail when it literally became a list of cutlery and dishes at one point. 4mo

Now I want to check out Boat Street! Romantic mystery set in Seattle on a houseboat on Boat Street going back and forth between Ada‘s life in the present to the previous boat‘s resident, Penny, in the past. Ada has suffered some serious hardships and is still in mourning while Penny has been missing for decades. An easy, enjoyable read.
