Whence Jane first heard of this book, she said, “How droll!” After review, she found her heart touched by the longing of those below-stairs. Upon further consideration, she now wonders if, perhaps, Ms. Baker owes her some money.

Caroline2 😆 I bailed on this one! What a wasted opportunity!!! 🙄 2y

The thrift store in my neighborhood had a “Books 3 for $1” sale last week. I found two . . .

JamieArc I really loved Shopgirl. I think Steve Martin writes beautifully. 2y

This is why we bring contingency books on vacation. A book budgeted for three days takes one because you just can‘t quit turning pages . . .

Started the day with these three in progress. Ended the day with these three finished. #readinglife

Jane says, “Back to the library,” recalling that wit and comedy are siblings, but not twins.

The flap copy tells me this image is from an 1858 Currier and Ives print. But I prefer to think it‘s a picture of Tom O‘Kane, our firefighter with a heart of gold.

Read this for interesting, formal poetry in which the forms do not overpower the themes and narratives.

Normally, I have borrowing privileges at three libraries. Today, after two months and 13 days, I finally got access to one of them again. Online requests and curbside pickup at the smallest of the three? Still paradise. I made the most of it and chose a 676 page novel. ❤️💙💚

Last year, I read McCullough‘s John Adams biography, then, took the DVDs of the HBO series out of the library to watch with my parents. So when they saw another McCullough book at a tag sale, they remembered how much I liked his work and picked it up for me. I started it today.

Two from this past winter. Separate shops, different days, both a total #thriftSCORE. Chabon is one of my favorite living authors, and I had read library copies of both these, but now I have beautiful hardcover copes as keepers.
