I enjoyed this ode to female friendship and empowerment. Sloane leads a life in which she allows herself to be drained, what will she make of her own thirst? I can‘t say that much about this story will stick with me, but it was perfect for spooky szn. The audio was impressive! 3.5 ⭐️ 🎧
For October and #HauntedShelf #BlackCatCrew I read 23 books. My favorites were Cackle, Carrie, The Lighthouse Witches, So Thirsty, Evil In Me & So Witches We Became 🐈⬛
#BookSpin was Suicide Forest which I dnfed and for #ReadOrDonate I plan to donate but for #DoubleSpin I read The Halloween Tree and will be keeping it.
Got home late from a long day at work and just remembered its #HHS24 opening day 😆 Thank you @AmyG for putting together this amazing swap for me… I love it. Thank you @wanderinglynn for hosting.
This was a low pick for me. I didn't always understand why Sloane and Naomi were best friends. And I wanted more interaction with the vampire group and not Noami and Sloane off by themselves. But I do like these types of wandering vampires and Sloane's own inner fight on who she wants to be. It was a fast read and interesting violent world.
A super fun Halloween read. This isn‘t the life of the vampires you know. This is a thrilling experience from start to finish where the main characters have to figure out their path and the sacrifice that comes with the one you love. Definitely a pick!
There were literally too many things going on in this one for me.
#UnpopularOpinion : I had to bail on this about halfway through. Not because of the lite horror…I was fine with that. I could not stand Naomi. She grated on me, and maybe that‘s because I am more of a Sloane and am not a free spirit. But, I decided to end listening to this when Naomi did one more reckless thing.
I can see why there are raves about this book and the discussion of the bond of female friendship. It‘s just not for me.
I loved this book. It's about two lifelong friends, Sloane and Naomi who go on a spa trip and meet some new friends who age really well, have no reflection and drink blood 🖤🧛🏻♂️🖤

I wouldn‘t usually relax into #HyggeHour with a horror book but I find this author more about the black humor than scares & I want to start it for #HauntedShelf
This coconut cream mini bundt cake looked prettier before I dropped it🤷🏻♀️but I‘m looking forward to trying it with coconut chai. I slept a lot today & am feeling better though still snorty 🤧& I wish I had tomorrow off.

I wanted to give this a pick, but it‘s a close So-so. This story of two best friends who have a far too wild girls night has a lot of possibility. However, it‘s a light horror that can‘t quite decide what it wants to be. I wish it focused more on the female friendship-that is when it‘s strongest. The characters just aren‘t quite fully developed but it was a quick easy read. 3⭐️
I picked this back up, and at first, it was slow going. I read it with a friend, which got me through. Once the action started, I went full steam ahead and finished it that day. I like the themes and the oddly matched cast of characters.
I LOVED this!!! I was so surprised by how much I was invested in the story and the friendship at the heart of it. And there are vampires!! What more could you ask for? While the horror aspect really drew my attention the personal struggles of the main character had such a good message by the end that I forgot I was even reading a “scary story”. Highly recommend!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 #skeletoncrew #hauntedshelf
I could not put this down. I loved so much about this. I loved the strong female characters and the fact that this really centered on friendship. I generally love a good vampire story and this was so good. It was kinda creepy, a little gory, but also fun. The women were relatable. They were just like you and me. And the ending was just so good. If not 5 stars, close enough to give it 5 for me. Loved this one.
Up next. This one looks like fun.

A lot of this really spoke to me and it was so readable - I easily could have devoured more pages of this story. I would have liked if the romance was more developed and less insta-lovey, but on the other hand, it wasn‘t really about the romance - it was more about Sloane‘s friendship with Naomi, and even more importantly, her relationship with herself. This book caresses your throat; Rachel Harrison once again leaves her mark.
Rachel Harrison is quickly becoming one of my auto-buy authors. And So Thirsty did not let me down. She took a classic vampire story and turned it into something completely new. I don‘t know how she makes her books horrifying, cozy, and empowering all at the same time but I‘m here for it.

Hi Team #Flerken 👻
1. The tagged! I read the author‘s Black Sheep recently & really enjoyed the dark humor so hoping So Thirsty is the same!

My #Roll100 picks for October:
#99: Any subscription book: So Thirsty from Aardvark
#27: Any #BOTM: The Vampires of El Norte
#47: Any Kindle Unlimited: Chaos at the Lazy Bones Bookshop (also one of my #SeasonalCozies picks)
All will work for #HauntedShelf Go team #Flerken ! 🎃
My third book by this author and all have been very firmly in the horror-lite category, with a little bit of camp and a lot of dark humor. I liked this one more than the others. Sloane and BFF Naomi go on a girls‘ trip for Sloane‘s birthday when things escalate and they are turned to vampires. Most of the story involves Sloane learning to lean-in to life in practically every way, with Naomi‘s help. I liked her growth into a more confident Sloane.
3.5⭐Light Pick
⬗ While it was an interesting enough take on vampires; it was also forgettable. I keep thinking that I‘ll like this authors books because I loved Such Sharp Teeth but unfortunately all the others haven‘t really impressed me much.
⬗ At least it was narrated by my fav narrator, Brittany Pressley
Sunlight severs me from sleep.

Thrilled to be bringing in fall with a new Rachel Harrison. I really enjoy her quirky horrors.
Not horror but actually kinda funny. Had some gore and one spicy 🌶️ scene. I loved the main character and her mental struggle. Second book of this author for me and I like her writing!
I absolutely adore Rachel Harrison! 🥰 This is the fourth book I have read by her, and it's just as incredible as the others! Is anyone else a fan of her books? I've heard her writing described as 'feminist horror' and I think that is incredibly accurate! ❤️ #bookndinner
So….who‘s in for an October read-a-long for So Thirsty? #sothirstyreadalong
Low pressure. We‘ll have almost all month to read the book. Throughout the month I may post something about the book but the last week of the month I‘ll post questions or prompts about the book. After that we can all post our final thoughts/takeaways/likes/dislikes.
I‘ve never hosted a read-a-long so help me out if I‘m wrong.
Anyone is welcome to join.

If you liked the movie Thelma and Louise and you don't mind blood, I think you'll like this. This is what would happen if Thelma and Louise were vampires. It is adventurous, there are car chases and things explode. Good times and sisterhood.
So happy my @AardvarkBookClub box came out of one stop mail purgatory! (NGL, I kinda hate they‘re using that service now…😒) But I‘m very excited for these and our Fall/Halloween #SoThirstyReadalong! I think I‘m going to start with Red River Road first, though. #aardvark

I decided on the tagged book plus a sci-fi one I had my eye on last time.
And the covers look beautiful next to each other. 😂😂😂
Murderbot and Ghost Ship have really gotten me into sci- fi and sci-fi horror these days.
What did you get?
September #aardvarkbookclub books are up! I went with three. I definitely was getting So Thirsty. Bonus - it's signed by the author! Great picks this month.
