Im on a bad run: 2 bails in a row😩 30 pages in, I‘m wondering why the author seems to hate all of his characters. I Googled and it seems Condon liked to “rage” at politics, authority, military. This book is supposed to be satire. Fair enough. For me, it‘s a weird kind of satire, not being any colours of the “amusing” spectrum and it‘s full of obnoxious characters. It‘s verbose and dull. It spawned 2 films, which I haven‘t seen🤷🏻Bailed on p. 81

Much to my disappointment, I‘m not enjoying this at all. I can see how it would be funny, but it‘s not working for me. Anyway, I wanted creepy, not funny.

This was one of the free books I got through Stuff Your Kindle day and I figured it was going to be mpreg which isn't my thing.

Ok, first off when you have an abused and scared person in your care you do not have sex with them. Fated mates bollocks be damned.

I wasn't terribly inclined to like this book but the writing was terrible, the plot nonsensical, and it was just awful

DNF🛑 True crime books are normally really interesting for me. With this one it definitely had its moments of being interesting. I just was not a fan of the layout. It‘s starts pretty much at the beginning with the murder. Then he is arrested not even halfway through. I stopped reading a little after the arrest because I didn‘t really see anymore point to continue reading. #HauntedShelves #TeamFlurken

I got halfway before completely losing interest 🫥 Maybe it‘s a case of “wrong book at the wrong time” but maybe not based on others reviews? Idk, too many other books on my Mt. TBR to tackle #HailtheBail 🚀⛰️📚📚📚

I can not take ANYMORE. I would have loved this when I was 14 and in my Twilight era. Now? It's tripe.

I couldn't finish it. Took too long to get to when stuff started getting scary.

This is a “because of me not the book” bail. I‘m just not in the right mindset to get into the story and time it is set in.

I tried but I just don't get the hype with this one. Not for me. DNF @ 20%.

Maybe this one is tedious because the audiobook is narrated by the author (something I don't usually prefer), or just because it feels so much like Flamethrowers in tone, and I'm not in the mood. Or maybe I'm just poised for spooky season and have no patience for anything else right now. Either way, I'm comfortable setting this one aside.
