The two books in the author‘s Part of Your World Series are #WithPhysician as 3 of the 4 main characters in them are doctors. 🩺 💉💊🩹❤️
#HyggeHourReadathon
Tonight‘s #HyggeHour is being spent on my couch with Heidi for #ChildrensClassicRead2024 along with some dessert Cadbury rainbow mini eggs. 😋
My mood is mellow and sad the weekend is over & it‘s back to work tomorrow. Hopefully my work week is a bit less busy than last week. 🙏🏼
#ReadAway2024 #TravelingStars
My first read for #TravelingStars2024 Mahalo @BookwormAHN ! 💜 This book is like going through a buffet with a small scoop of everything-it doesn‘t go deep into practice but is a good overview. I found several ideas in it that I will try & I appreciate the creativity.
@inthegreensandblues I mailed it (with lots of tabs & notes) plus some #Ostara goodies, to you on Saturday morning. It should be to you by 3/21.✨
#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024
A follow up to What Moves the Dead & second in the Sworn Soldier series (which I hope means more books). I love the mix of creepy gothic vibes & dark humor that Kingfisher infuses these novellas with. Alex Easton is a great character & I love Angus, their batman & Miss Potter too. In this book the trio is reunited at Easton‘s family‘s hunting lodge. The blend of fantasy, folklore & horror in these books is superb!
#ItTakesAllKinds
I have read & enjoyed several of this author‘s books over the years (pictured) but the tagged book with #ExitInTitle is still sitting in my #TBR stack.
When all your library holds come in at once! Today‘s #bookhaul includes the tagged book for #SheSaid & Emma of 83rd Street for #Pemberlittens #JaneAdjacent (not a fan of the audiobook narration so going for print) & I have catching up to do for both. Others for #SeriesLove2024 & the graphic novel is for a reading challenge prompt.
The book🐔🐔are worried that with the other 2 I have checked out & not read yet, I won‘t get to all of them.🤷🏻♀️
#ReadAwAy2024
The 3rd book from my #AuldLangSpine list from @Itchyfeetreader (I‘m trying to read at least one per month) is another WOW! This is a collection of 5 short stories & a 6th that‘s a bit longer, more of a novella. All are about belonging, or not & the black experience & while some hit harder than others, I appreciated all of them. I listened to it on audio & I recommend it that way as the readers knock the narration out of the park ⬇️
Saturday morning vibes. It was a very long work week so today I am slowly running errands & took a breather for a dirty chai latte & a savory crepe at my local coffee shop while starting this book from my #Roll100 March books. (And I grabbed this card that came yesterday from my mailbox for the #NaturalitsyCardSwapSpring. Thanks @jenniferw88 🤗)
#ItTakesAllKinds
Some childhood favorites with #TitleWith?or! Or in the case of the tagged book, both an ! & a ? ❓❗️⁉️
#ItTakesAllKinds
A list of 10 of the most #controversial books of all time for today‘s prompt 🚫📚
https://thelistwire.usatoday.com/lists/10-of-the-most-controversial-books-of-all...
Finished on Sunday for #NancyDrewBR I am giving this one a very soft pick, rounded up solely for nostalgia. I like that we have George & Bess now, even if their intro lacked (as did the mention of Ned that just dropped in). The mysteries lacked a bit & the problematic racism, cultural appropriation & fat shaming that appear in the 60s version are not great. Still, I love Nancy & these books with the good & bad, are a throwback to childhood days.⬇️
While I really consider my first post on July 5, 2016 as my true Litsyversary, I actually signed up 8 years ago today on 3/15/16, so I‘ll take the reason to go ahead & celebrate! 🎉📚🎉
It‘s been 8 years of great books & even better friends, not to mention the ginormous TBR. 📚📚📚📚📚
Thank you to everyone who has made these years so special & fun! 🤗 I love you all! And yay 🎉 to @KarenUK my Litsyversary day/year buddy! 😉
#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024
This book I just finished this week fits today‘s #ItTakesAllKinds prompt #WithLawyer as one of the MCs., Adrian, is a lawyer. It also includes an elderly chihuahua, a baby & the other MC, Vanessa, an influencer/vlog star. With this book, I‘ve now finished both Abby Jimenez‘s series & I‘m a bit sad because these are such sweet, heartfelt rom-com books but with some depth & poignancy. She makes me both chuckle & cry.💛
My #NaturalitsyCardSwapSpring cards were mailed out yesterday. Crazy work weeks so it‘s a little later than planned, but I had a meeting near the district post office by the airport which will shave a day off from the post office by my house.🤷🏻♀️ I just received my first few in & will post about those soon!
Happy Spring! 💚🍀🪼🐂🐙🌱🌸🌷
Thank you @dabbe for the #TLT tag! 🤗
Hard to narrow it to three, but…
1️⃣ The tagged book-love & grief in the life of a teenage girl in 1987. If you haven‘t read it, you must. 💙
2️⃣ Little Women -it‘s a classic & my first bildungsroman love. 💚
3️⃣ Never Let Me Go-I find people either love or really dislike this one, but it‘s love for me. Bleak, dystopian coming of age.🩶
Who else wants to share their three? Consider yourself tagged! 🤗
Thanks @Eggs for the #WondrousWednesday tag!🤗
1️⃣ The many things I learned from HB, the author of this book & one of my all-time leaders/mentors would take too much space but 3 are 1) Lead with your values & don‘t work for a company if your values don‘t match. 2) Put people over profits—a true leader serves people. 3) Build relationships & “trust banks” first.
2️⃣ Talent Development & Training
3️⃣ Independently wealthy bookstore owner! 😉
#ItTakesAllKinds
I love a book #WithMap so I kept picking this one up at my local indie bookstore last weekend. I was very tempted to buy it but I maintained my willpower.🙅🏻♀️📚 It‘s full of maps of the places authors have created & essays on what inspired them & maps in general. 🗺️ 💙
#ItTakesAllKinds
The tagged book is one #WithTherapist or a kind of therapist. The MC (Nora) is a bookseller & bibliotherapist who recommends specific books & book stacks to help her customers get through their issues. 📚
The author‘s website has the lists of book Nora recommends in this book https://www.elleryadamsmysteries.com/downloads/BibliotherapyBookTitlesfromTheSec...
& in the series https://www.elleryadamsmysteries.com/bookrx.html
#ItTakesAllKinds #LoveTriangle
TBH, I missed the 🔻on the prompt when I looked this morning (in my defense it was the butt crack before dawn & I was at the airport) & I started pulling Love-titled cookbooks so I just went with it! 🤷🏻♀️ Here‘s a 🔻of 3 cookbooks I own & love. ❤️🔻❤️ About to take off back to Oahu after a looong day in Kona.
#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon #Hygge
My #HyggeHour is working on my #NaturalitsyCardSwapSpring cards while listening to the first chapters of the tagged book for #JaneAdjacent with the #PemberLittens & My Monticello which is one of my #AuldLangSpine titles.
I meant to have the cards out earlier but work life got in the way. I‘m going to Kona all day tomorrow, so my new goals is mailing them all out by Tuesday.
A small #bookhaul from my local bookshop‘s 6 years in business yesterday. I told myself I could buy one book & I kept picking this one up, plus it was 30% off. It‘s about stories of “generosity” in nature & interactions that benefit the natural world. It‘s a gorgeous book & looks fascinating. I also got their tote because…it‘s grey 🩶 & a shaka 🤙🏼😊sticker.
#ReadAway2024
I ended up finishing this one last night & overall I enjoyed it even though it had a stronger start than finish. A highlight for me is that it‘s set in La'ie on the north shore of Oahu so lots of recognition of beaches & places & (although it‘s been 23 years) that feeling of being a new resident of Hawai‘i. The characters, especially the kids, were likable & while the ending felt rushed and a bit too neatly tied, it‘s still a pick.
#ItTakesAllKinds
If someone asks me #AboutMarriage I always hear it in my head as “mawwiage” & I have Peter Cook as The Clergyman in The Princess Bride to thank for that… 💍🤷🏻♀️
“Mawwiage. Mawwiage is wot bwings us together today. Mawwiage, that blessed awangement, that dweam wifin a dweam. And wuv, tru wuv, will fowow you foweva. So tweasure your wuv.” — The Clergyman
#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024
This one was a dark, twisty YA thriller. Great if you are a Criminal Minds fan like me. Cassie is 17 & gifted with the natural ability of reading people & she is offered the opportunity to move to Quantico, VA to work with 4 other teens in a secret FBI program set up to solve cold cases. Cassie hopes to learn more about her mother‘s murder & when it seems that case is linked to an active serial killer case her FBI ⬇️
#ItTakesAllKinds
There‘s a part of this rom-com novel where the MCs are separated by distance & COVID & communicate through emails & other electronic communication & a #LongDistanceLove begins to form. 💕
Saturday morning errands: bookstore, gas station, grocery store... Stopped by my new neighborhood coffee shop to read for a bit. Even as an introvert, I appreciate friendly service & the barista remembered my name from last week, impressive! This time I tried their chai latte with oatmilk, made “dirty” with espresso. They made a mistake & added 4 shots!😱She offered to remake but I hate waste. I guess you could call this a “filthy” chai latte!😆⬇️
#ItTakesAllKinds
Honestly, I feel like my book shelves need some serious love (& dusting) before a #Shelfie is taken & I‘m working all day & too busy to do it so, here‘s some shelfies from my local bookstore (tagged). They celebrate 6 years in business this Saturday & I‘m hoping to head over there for the gathering & sale. 🌈📚🌺
Thanks @Eggs for the #TLT #ThreeListThursday tag! 🤗
Hard to narrow it down to 3 but:
1️⃣ The tagged book is set in Kauai & I love the combo of memoir, science/plants & history. 🌺
2️⃣ The View From the Cheap Seats-Neil Gaiman essays, many about writing & books—what‘s not to love? ✍️🖤
3️⃣ I‘ll Be Gone in the Dark: Amazing true crime (I had to read it in daylight) but the whole story around Michelle McNamara & the Golden State Killer, wow! 😱
#ItTakesAllKinds
The #OnceUponABookClub box for February that I received yesterday has this book about the Vietnam #War
I have avoided Kristin Hannah books & many war books because I have to be in the *right* mood for sad stories & that‘s been harder lately. But hey, the #OUABC box includes 4 mystery gifts to open while reading so I may have to dip in soon.😉
Thanks @Eggs for the #WondrousWednesday tag!
1️⃣ Current read (tagged) is set in a “group home” set up by the FBI in Quantico, Virginia where the MC is in a program where gifted teens help solve cold cases.😱
2️⃣ I‘d love to visit any of the settings (fictional or the real areas) in Jenny Colgan‘s books. Places in the Cornish Isles, UK, Scotland, Highland Islands, etc where there are small towns & puffins! Her books always make me feel cozy!🤗
#ItTakesAllKinds
The latest #TrueCrime book in my TBR, I‘ve been waiting on the library e-book hold for a while now & it‘s still 16 weeks out. ??♀️
(I borrowed the background from a New Yorker article about the book‘s subject, art thief Stéphane Breitwieser) ?️
Thanks @Eggs for the #Two4Tuesday tag! 🤗
1️⃣ I honestly don‘t want a roommate but I guess I‘ll say Fitzwilliam Darcy in Pride and Prejudice so I could enjoy the grounds & library of Pemberley. 1️⃣
2️⃣ The boarding house in this book sounded absolutely charming & the group of roommates were fun too.
#ItTakesAllKinds #F&NFwithSameTopic
After reading the tagged book , a fictionalized account of the Women‘s Air Raid Defense & their work in WWII in Hawaii, I had to find & read Shuffleboard Pilots, non-fiction about the WARD. #FandNFwithSameTopic
#ItTakesAllKinds
I inherited some of these books #InspiredByTVorFilm from my older sister (still dating myself) & I remember thinking they were pretty groovy! 😉☮️🌻🧡
Thank you @TheSpineView for the #MotivationalMonday tag! 🥺
1️⃣ Does survive the week seem defeatist? It‘s a tough work week for me.😬I bought cute local cards this weekend for #SpringCardSwap & want to get them out.
2️⃣ I have 2-the tagged book & Somewhere Beyond the Sea (follow up to The House in the Cerulean Sea) are both out in Sept!
3️⃣ Mystery as I feel I can work in lots of sub genres-historical, thriller, cozy, etc.
Want to join in?
#HyggeHourReadathon #Hygge
My #Naturalitsy #HyggeHour tonight is on the couch with blankets (blankets are underneath as it‘s 72 degrees F.) getting into the latest Nancy Drew for #NancyDrewBR while eating some Cadbury mini eggs. My favorite Easter candy.😋🐣
Mood is mellow, a bit tired & sad it‘s Monday already tomorrow.
#ReadAway2024
A pick overall for my first #Roll100 (# 79) of March. I loved the first half, felt the second half got bogged down with more tangents than it needed, but I did like the way it all resolved. (Not giving much detail on plot as I think it‘s best to just jump in.) I loved all the “lone women” characters & the representation. While I‘m not normally a western fan, add a horror element & guess I‘m in.🤷🏻♀️ A quick & nail-biting read.
Yesterday‘s smallish #LibraryBookHaul 📚 I went to pick up my holds on the tagged book so I can read the follow-up to What Moves the Dead & Relish, a reread for my virtual foodie book club & grabbed the latest (book 5) for #NancyDrewBR & saw Tales of Korea that I thought would be fun for #FoodandLit
The book🐔🐔approve!
Thank you @TheSpineView for this #SundayFunday tag
Today, I‘m reading at least 3 of these 4 books. Continuing Lone Women, trying to catch up in The Golden Notebook & listening to the tagged book as I do some housework. I‘m planning on reading Nancy Drew tonight for #NancyDrewBR during #HyggeHour.
Anyone else want to share what you are reading? 🍀
#ItTakesAllKinds
A #Mythical Medusa retelling in my TBR, part of my #AuldLangSpine list from @Itchyfeetreader Hoping to get to it in the next month or so.🐍
#ItTakesAllKinds
I don‘t have a #FaveBookmark I have so many that I love & I rotate using them and try to fit them to the book I‘m reading. Here are three newish ones I‘m using that I 💙 The celestial one my friend gave me for Christmas (you can‘t tell here but it‘s 3-D). The pink one my director brought back from a paper store in Italy for me-it‘s so delicate & pretty. The sea creatures I recently bought at a local bookstore.
Out running errands all morning so I decided to try a new neighborhood coffee shop for an iced latte with oatmilk . The barista made their Kai Breakfast Turnover sound so good I ended up having one for brunch/lunch. Scrambled eggs, cheese & Portuguese sausage inside a flaky turnover crust. Really ono. Also really good (so far) is the tagged book, one of my March #Roll100 picks. ☕️🥞 📖 💚
My March TBR is aggressive & as usual, I‘m not planning to get to all of it. I‘m still unsure on this month‘s #SundayBuddyRead The Golden Notebook as I‘m only through the intro & not loving it but I‘m going to try for more this weekend. This month I‘m joining in: #ChloeGongReadAlong #JaneAdjacent #NancyDrewBR #ChildrensClassicRead2024 #Naturalitsy #SheSaid #SeasonalCozies #FoodAndLit #Roll100 & a reread of Relish for my virtual foodie book club.⬇️
My recap of my reading in February. I finished 19 books! Included are my buddy reads for #SundayBuddyRead #Pemberlittens #JaneAdjacent #SheSaid #NancyDrewBR #ChildrensClassicRead2024 #Roll100 (all 3), #SeasonalCozies an #AuldLangSpine book & several #SeriesLove2024 books.
No bad books-I enjoyed it all & favorites were The Huntress, Hidden Pictures, You Are Your Best Thing, The Boy Who Cried Bear, Dangerous Alliance & the Lady Holmes series.📚🩵
#ItTakesAllKinds
It‘s been a while since I read this book about a couple driving a “pet”alligator from West Virginia “home” to Florida, but it made for a unique #RoadTrip 🐊🚙
I feel pretty good about my #FabulousFebruary #20In4 #readathon results. My goals were to finish my buddy reads/challenge books for February as well as finish as many of my in-process books as possible & I did get 7 books completed & made progress on the 3 at the bottom which I should finish up this weekend.
Thanks @Andrew65 for hosting! 🤗
My overall February reading recap is coming later 📚📚📚📚📚📚

#SeriesLove2024
Second book in the Haven‘s Rock series (spinoff of the author‘s Rockton series) & a solid entry. The town is getting off the ground but of course things are not settling down. There are big changes for Casey & Dalton & danger lurking when the youngest resident disappears into the fiorest after Seeing a “bear man.” I liked the twists & turns the story took & hate to wait a ⬇️
#ReadAway2024 #FabulousFebruary #20in4
I finished my 3rd book for the #Roll100 challenge (#44) On my #BOTM stack, I‘m glad I finally got to it. It‘s a lighter pick for me. I loved the setting of The Cloisters. I was in NYC in 2008 & we spent the day there (my first & only time seeing it) & I loved how atmospheric it was & thought the author captured that well. The arts, antiquities & academic aspects were interesting as was the tarot card ⬇️
My #BOTM box for March! I was torn between Annie Bot & Listen for the Lie but since BOTM gave me a credit as my February books are either on a VERY slow barge to Hawaii or lost 🥺I used it & got both. I also added the tagged book (Yay, Simone! 🎉) as it‘s July‘s #SundayBuddyRead pick. My freebie for the 2024 Lolly is Shark Heart as I own/ have read all but it & the Lisa Jewell & it sounded more intriguing. Yikes! 4 more books to the pile! 🤦🏻♀️
