I enjoyed this, but I may have trouble articulating why.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This book is a powerful example of how storytelling can be both transportive and informative - shedding light on the historical and ongoing impacts of systemic racism, offering education and humanization. It was brutal to read at times, but also impactful and important. The ending had me completely hooked. Days later, I‘m still haunted by this brilliant ghost story. #Aardvark #AardvarkBookClub

I have never read a Chuck Tingle before even though all his books sound so interesting (I am not a big fan of any body horror) but I was seduced by this gorgeous special edition and the intriguing premise of the book, that I cracked for my September #aardvarkbookclub pick.
I also checked out some reviews and trigger warnings. I know what scene to skip over and was advised that this one is lighter on the body horror than his others. 🤞

Sace I chose that one too. I‘ve never read him either. 2w

I didn't like this as much as I did the other books that I've read by Ashley Winstead. Maybe it's because I am not a big fan of Twilight. This book was a bit melodramatic for my taste. Some parts held my attention, but the plot was just too much for me.

I thought this was excellent. The author takes Mexican folklore and turns it into a mystery about missing girls. There's a lot of Spanish which might be my only caution if you don't speak Spanish. It slowed my pace some but others might find it difficult.

This book gave me so much anxiety! All Ember does is lie. She just does things without really thinking it through. I read about 80% and had to take a break because she did this thing that I knew was going to bite her in the butt. Finished it up and am glad I did. It was a nice lesson for her to learn but still.
