Davor Short books are your friends in this situation 😁 4w
larah17 70 books is incredible!! 😎 Well done! As above, you can always grab some short books or middle grades to get back ahead 😁 4w
SilversReviews Not that far behind...but that‘s why I set mine LOW!! 😊 You can catch up. 4w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @julesG, yes - I‘ve got a bunch of library books which are popular enough to have a shortened due date - I‘m suffering from having too many options!‘ (edited) 4w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Hestapleton, hopefully 😅 I need a reading vacation! 4w
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Birdsong28, thank you! Everyone is so kind with their pep talks ☺️ 4w

I ask potential GR friends to tell me how they know me. Lately, it‘s been all kinds of stuff like this. Yeah. No. Not going there.

Kappadeemom Anyone that uses “beloved” and doesn‘t know me is a creeper in my opinion 4w
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Kappadeemom Even my husband would get a laugh and shove if he called me that! 4w
MaleficentBookDragon @BarbaraTheBibliophage I know. Right there with you. Plus the #manpanion's pet name for me is Weezie (as in weasal). He's so romantic.😜 4w
See All 23 Comments
BarbaraTheBibliophage @MaleficentBookDragon Awwww. That‘s preeeecious! 🤣 4w
Susanita Yeah I‘ve gotten a few requests there that were a little...sketchy. 4w
Birdsong28 How creepy!!! I got one saying about how he wants to meet people to have friends and maybe intercourse 😡😠 so I reported it to Goodreads and he got taken down. 📚📖 4w
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Birdsong28 Ewww. Glad you reported him. 4w
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Susanita And that‘s putting it nicely! 4w
LibrarianRyan Yuck. 4w
Prairiegirl_reading I don‘t use goodreads as a social site. Just for tracking. Thank goodness! Super creepy!!! 4w
jillrhudy The heck? 😑 4w
TheDaysGoBy I just got a friend request on goodreads, but the person had like no books or anything tied to their account. Don‘t know why some people think everyone will just blindly friend people on various social media sites 4w
MaleficentBookDragon @TheDaysGoBy I got one like that the other day too. No books. 4w
MicheleinPhilly I got one the other day from a girl that had nothing but a URL in her profile. And that URL was along the lines of sexy-pictures-of-me.com. 🙄 Like, this isn‘t a dating OR porno site, sweets. 4w
Crazeedi I'm very careful who I friend on goodreads or anywhere . 4w
Crazeedi @Prairiegirl_reading same with me. I just track books 4w
BarbaraTheBibliophage @TheDaysGoBy @MalificentBookDragon Really, they must think we are dumb. Not. 4w
BarbaraTheBibliophage @MicheleinPhilly Ugh. Ridiculous. It‘s everywhere. 4w
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Prairiegirl_reading That‘s why I ask “how do I know you?” Because sometimes I don‘t want to know you. :-p 4w
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Crazeedi We all should be. 4w
MicheleinPhilly Yeah, I had to lock down so many aspects of my IG account cause I was getting some weird ass messages from random dudes. I‘m so confused. When did IG become Tinder? Also, I‘m a big ass homo. 😉 4w
BarbaraTheBibliophage @MicheleinPhilly Seriously. So annoying. I used to have a locked down IG, but I use it to promote my book blog now. So I‘m forever blocking people—all creeper guys. 4w

At this pace I am on track for possibly beating my best year of 222 books read! I couldn‘t be happier with the material I am reading, as well as the pace. And joining BookTube has been a great way to engage with other readers for buddy reads. It‘s been lovely to read some intimidating books with other people, analyzing it together as we go.

I hope your reading years are going well, also!

DivineDiana Fantastic achievement! 👏🏻📚👏🏻 1mo

I definitely had to kick it in gear to finish June at 50%, but I did because I‘m ridiculous and weird about my GR challenge progress. 😂

mom2bugnbee 200! Wow! 👀 1mo
Lovesbooks87 My goal for the year is 200 too! 1mo
Amiable I‘m weird about it, too. That‘s why a few years ago I dropped my yearly goal down drastically (to 52). I found I was rushing through books and reaching past the chunksters that I love and grabbing for the shorter ones, just to reach an arbitrary self-imposed goal! I finally realized that I was the one putting that pressure on myself—and so I was the one who could remove it, too. 😀 (edited) 1mo

rather_be_reading wow!! great job so far! 1mo
sprainedbrain @Amiable I don‘t stress about it, and read what I want, but I love the fun of planning my reading and tracking my stats. It‘s *almost* as fun as acquiring and reading the books. 😂 1mo
AmyG An amazing #. I bow to you. 1mo
cariashley Wow, well done!! I‘m perpetually 3 books behind this year😞 (edited) 1mo
Ashley_Nicoletto Every year I secretly hope I get 300 and I never even get close. 🤣🤣 1mo
brit91 Great job!!😀😎📚 1mo
Eyelit I‘m at 50% myself and also need to kick it into gear... thank goodness for the readathon next weekend 😂 1mo
sprainedbrain @Eyelit Readathons help me so much! I need to get my stack ready. 😊 1mo
Liz_M @Amiable That is a good attitude to take! ☺ 1mo
Liz_M Well done! I'm so envious of the amount of reading you can fit in. ☺ 1mo

Since I've spent all day on cleaning up my Goodreads, I added my profile link in my tagline. Just be patient with me, I'm currently going through the books there, to place them correctly and add as needed. 🙄🤯👩‍💻🤦‍♀️

Not to brag, but I seriously underestimated how much reading time super early retirement, ARCs and access to audiobooks would contribute to my Goodreads Challenge. I am certain I can reach my goal before the end of June.

BeaG Audiobooks have been my life lately. 2mo

LeahBergen Whoa! That‘s awesome! 👏🏻👏🏻 2mo
BarbaraBB Super early retirement intrigues me. At what age did you stop working? 2mo
Cathythoughts Well done Julia 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 2mo
julesG @BarbaraBB I was forced to stop working full-time three years ago, at age 36. Meanwhile I have stopped working altogether. Due to health reasons, I have multiple sclerosis. As much as I "enjoy" not having to work, the financial situation worries me. And I often miss being part of a team, meeting colleagues every day. Guess that's why I'm so active on Litsy. 2mo
BarbaraBB I am so sorry to hear you have MS and were forced to give up work. Early retirement then doesn‘t sound so attractive anymore. I hope Litsy and the many books you read will give you lot of diversion (is that the correct word?) from your worries ❤️😘🙏 2mo
Velvetfur Sorry to hear about the MS Julia 🙁 But I would also like to congratulate you on your reading goal and the fact that you're smashing it 👊📚 2mo
julesG @BarbaraBB thank you! (distraction might be better) I remember being utterly shocked when my neurologist suggested I apply for early retirement about 2 years ago. I wanted to work, my kids were old enough to get along without me for a few hours and settled in school. However every time I attempted some form of regular 9-5 work, even reduced hours, my health trew lemons at me. Then started the long and rocky road to getting retirement. And, 👇 2mo
Megabooks Great job! 2mo
julesG As if right now, it's not permanent. I'll have to reapply for continuation next year. 😖😬 Somehow the health insurance companies and retirement agencies still think a chronic disease might be cured within a few months. 2mo
julesG @Velvetfur Thank you! 2mo
Susannah Oh dear, @julesG. I‘m so sorry you have to battle bureaucracies as well as your illness. That‘s just appalling.... I am very impressed by your speedy reading! I discovered audiobooks in the last few years and know I wouldn‘t read half as much without them. I love that I can engage with books even when I‘m taking care of other things (house cleaning, commutes, etc). Congratulations! 🎉💐 2mo
BarbaraBB Distraction. Of course. And too battle against health insurance companies must be challenging. Wishing you all the best with your health and your books! 2mo
julesG @Susannah Would be boring if they didn't put up all the red tape, wouldn't it? Thank you! There are craft and cooking books among those 147 read books. I review those quite often. 2mo
Deifio Wow, congrats on so many books read! What do you craft? Sorry to hear about the MS. Hope the bureaucracy isn't too bad (not like in Asterix und Obelix) 😉 2mo
jenniferw88 So sorry to hear about the MS. I would suggest coming to the UK, but the NHS isn't perfect (though it's helped me a lot - it would say that MS won't be cured in the next few months!) and Brexit problems it probably isn't a good idea! 2mo
julesG @Deifio Took me two years to eventually get the funding for a help (comes in twice a week to do cleaning, etc), because bureaucracy - that was definitely Asterix like, being sent from one office to the next and back to square one. I dabble in a lot of crafts, fibre arts (knitting, crochet, weaving, embroidery,...), painting, DIY, jewellery making, wood working,... I have always liked working with my hands and love trying out new things. 2mo
julesG @jenniferw88 Without kids, I would have moved to the UK years ago. Definitely think the NHS is similar to what I get here in Germany. Kids and Brexit though, I'd better stay here for a little longer. Although both my kids said they'd come with me to the UK, their father/my ex objects. My youngest is 9.5 years old, so I might move in 9 years. They'll hopefully have sorted Brexit out by then. 😜 2mo
Freespirit Wow amazing reading year @julesG Sorry to hear about your battles with health and insurance companies. ❤️❤️ 2mo
julesG @Freespirit Thanks! Let's just say, I'm a chronic pain in the lower extremities of my case workers. 😉 2mo
Freespirit @julesG Good on you👍🏻😍 2mo
jenniferw88 @julesG 🤞 Brexit is sorted! The thing that annoys me about the NHS is that you would think transplant recipients (like me) get free prescriptions wouldn't you, but no, i get free prescriptions because of my diabetes! Makes no sense to me whatsoever - surely transplant medication is more important?! 2mo
julesG @jenniferw88 Who gets which medication free of charge is definitely not to be understood. Same here. - - - Brexit is sorted? I should watch/read the news more often. These days I only check the weather forecast, couldn't handle the drama. 2mo
jenniferw88 @julesG meant fingers crossed Brexit is sorted in 9 years' time lol! Still got to get our new PM... I don't want either but Boris will be worst! 2mo
julesG @jenniferw88 Now I get it. It seems like the choice between plague and cholera (as a German aphorism goes), re PM. That said, no matter who'll make it, no-deal Brexit sounds settled. See, drama drama drama. Can we please go back to the time before Trump in the White House and before Brexit was even an idea? Enough of this Twilight Zone. 2mo
youneverarrived Fab 👏 👏 2mo
Birdsong28 Congratulations!! I am on book 44/45 so I will be also completing mine soon. 📚📖 2mo
Amiable @julesG Amen to the suggestion that we get out of this Twilight Zone of Trump and Brexit! As an American, I am barely hanging onto my sanity. Holding on until 2020 when hopefully our national nightmare will come to an end. 2mo
