My darling boyfriend and sometimes ocean captain asked me why I was photographing an ugly boat. ?? The boat may be "ugly", but I like the name! I'm always looking forward to the next chapter! #boatsoflitsy #harbor #alaska #boats #teachersoflitsy
I've been recovering from surgery this week and have actually felt too tired mostly to even read. In between naps I've finally started watching A Discovery of Witches, which has been on my watch list for ages! I haven't read the books, although @Kimberlone has read the first. So far a bit dull, but Matthew Goode is enough to keep me watching till it picks up 😍 Should I read the series? #witches #adaptations #surgery #recovery
I'm loving my reread of Red Rising. It is so gorydamn thrilling. Plus Dillon is reading Iron Gold right now, so I can talk his ear off about it all. It has been insanely hot here in Alaska (according to Alaskans). We have been seeking some cool air where ever we can get it- today on Dolly Varden Lake. #teacheroflitsy #YA #summervacation #alaska #heatwave #dogsoflitsy #atleastimnotinafrysuit
Today I am headed home from a massive road trip. Dillon and I drove over 3,000 miles, from Alaska to North Dakota and Minnesota. I'll post a picture of the sexy 1982 brown truck we drove for context some time 😂. Moby Dick has been my constant companion throughout! Hopefully the plane home will be some good Dick time too.

69/419 or 16% done with my #dickjourney . Currently Dillon and I are driving through Alberta in route from AK to ND. We've already driven 2070 miles! Moby Dick is a good read for the trip because: A. I have to finish it by fall to teach it somehow, and B. Dillon has read it before and thus is entertained by my reading sections aloud dramatically! #roadtrip #Canada #antitranscendentalism #teachersoflitsy
"Thought he, it's a wicked world in all meridians; I'll die a pagan."
Dillon is getting the "Jumbo White" (his choice of a boat name) ready for the summer, which is the perfect background for restarting my #dickjourney , as @Kimberlone calls it. Wish me luck. I'm 12 of 136 chapters down.

Finally finding a little reading time. I'm in Homer AK to help the handsomest man I know time a track meet. It is dreary and rainy, and I'm happy I could go inside for a tick.
Books keep me sane at the DMV. This is the second day I've sat here for hours. 🤦♀️
I saved this exciting package from @hermyknee for a post Christmas surprise! In addition to the book, Liz sent delicious smelling coffee, a book mark, sweet coffee cup, and literary pillow case! Thank you!! #bookmail #postchristmaschristmas
@Kimberlone and my nephew already tearing through his Christmas gift from his Aunt Kimberly. Next will be my gift Airborn by Kenneth Oppel.
The metaphor and unpacking of this particular line is endless! I've been working on "The Raven" with my American Lit classes. Updated my quote board in honor! This is my favorite part of the year. Almost time for my absolute favorite #transcendentalism ! #romanticism #americanliterature #teachersoflitsy
Finally working on my November book club pick! I'm hosting in a few weeks! @907Margaret already has given great feedback! I am also working on my Greek mythology unit with my sophomore classes, so I'm digging the vibes all around. #teachersoflitsy @Kimberlone I know it's taken me sooo long to start!
Cherry is funny, honest, & really took me on a journey with a surprisingly likeable junky. The narrative felt like it was going somewhere, to some kind of climax, or rock bottom, but the result was meh. There didn't feel to be any resolution, just circular tapering off to meet the opening scene of Emily shoving ice down his pants to bring him back to life. But that scene was the beginning; and there was no life to hold on to at the end. #heroin
Not only did this sandwich place in Oakland have bomb sandwiches, they clearly love The Outsiders as much as I do! From day one of @Kimberlone and my trip to San Fran for our mom's bday! #quotesinunusualplaces #ponyboy #oakland
Some of you may remember my horror at realizing my copy of Into the Wilderness was missing 30 pages. What to do with such a book? 🔥 Well it's been sitting in my kindling pile for months! Tonight we had a power outage and in honor of #bannedbookweek I figured I'd snap a shot of the burn. Don't burn books y'all, except of course in times like these. Don't worry I own the ebook now 😉
I updated my quote finally. I am falling in love and the gooeyness is seaping into all aspects of life. This is a small section of my gallery wall behind my desk. Kudos to all the talented students who have allowed me to keep their literary interpretations over the past 3 years! #teachersoflitsy #poetry #love
I'm in army phase of this story. This book is so real, and unreal at the same time. Like he is realistic and almost reasonable, but insane, and that's kind of the appeal. #armymedic #addict #fuckedupbooksaboutfuckeduppeople
Enjoying the last bit of summer in the hammock before Alaska gets chilly! Just got this book in the mail. I heard an interview on NPR a few weeks ago, and what can I say Terri Gross got me intrigued! #readingoutside #iraqveterans #authorisinprison #bankrobber
Thank you @DebbieGrillo for the lovely box (can't wait to see what's inside!!), it was delivered ages ago while I was gone this summer, but I have neglected the litsy posting, sorry! #TCPS #teachersoflitsy
It may be hard to see, but please share my horror in discovering that there are 30 missing pages in my paperback! I was reading in a tent in Glennallen at the time of this horror and was so thankful to be in cell service to download the ebook right away! #readinghorrorstory #wtf #missingpages #thatpartwasimportant #printingmistakes
Despite being confused that the directions were primarily written lower 48 to Ak while we were travelling the opposite direction, @Murphytall and I managed our way from home on the Kenai Peninsula to Skagway and back! The Milepost is an Alaskan institution and we enjoyed flipping through and doing things old school! Pull out map included! #travel #ALCAN #Alaska #Canada #driving
@Murphytall and I hiked the 33 mile Chilkoot trail this week! We stayed 5 night on the historic trail, leaving lots of time for reading! Along for the miles were Canery Row and the first half of Into the Wilderness (sorry @Kimberlone ). Megan lugged the weighty House of Spirits on the trail! This is at Happy Camp, the morning after we summited 🏔 #hiking #backpacking #nature #alaska #canada #chilkoot
