Bit of a fantasy week this week, I‘m in the middle of both of these at the minute.
Bit behind target for #bfcr2 this week which I think is a reflection of the busy week I‘ve had, there‘s been so little time for runs or even walks outside of work hours and social events this week.
Bring on week 3!

A rare night at the theatre to see a stage adaptation of one of my favourite books.
So well done, I got a bit choked up at the end. The cast and puppetry were fantastic.
I suspect this production will have life after its brief stint in Sheffield so if you get chance to catch a future production, I‘d recommend it.

Just me and my kindle having a well deserved early night tonight. Sleep has been somewhat limited this week as my little boy is going through a “wake mummy up in the middle of the night.....every night” type of spell. 🤦🏼‍♀️😴
Anyway, this week‘s #bfcr2 goal was to beat last week‘s step count on the journey to get to 100,000 in one week....last week was 55,000, this week was......68,082! Yay!!

Taking an idea from @Cinfhen here are my #top6reads so far this year. The Winter King was a bit of a departure for me as I‘ve not read a lot of proper romance books but I was hooked and am definitely exploring the genre more.

Well, my goal for #bfcr2 was 100,000 steps per week. I was short in week 1, with steps totalling 55,000ish. I thought about revising this but decided, nah, let‘s just try each week to achieve it and see how I go.
Well day 1 of week 2 included a tough, mixed terrain 15 mile run that I‘d signed up for. After walking to the start line too I‘ve managed to clock up 35,000 so far today so o think that‘s a pretty good start to this week! @wanderinglynn

Quick bit of reading done in my lunch break before getting back to the grind!
I‘m reading the tagged book for my IRL book club. Not very far in so not sure what to make of it so far.
I‘m a little behind on my #bookfitnesschallenge this week. I‘m not certain I‘m going to hit my target of 100,000 steps despite having been out for a run twice. I think it‘s my sedentary office job that makes it hard. I may revise for next week.
@wanderinglynn

wanderinglynn You are making progress—that‘s what matters. 🙌🏻 One day, one step at a time. Office jobs are hard. I have the same challenge. And you have the right attitude—adapt your goal if it‘s not workings. 👍🏻 3w
LibrarianJen After my last office job I vowed never again! I need to be moving. I would walk the complex on my breaks and at lunch. That helped, but then I decided to just eat lunch at my desk while working and take off an extra half hour at the end of the day. Despite my shitty school employee pay, I don't think I could go back to a desk job. 3w

Here comes #bookfitnesschallenge round 2!
A few things got in the way of round 1 for me but I‘m feeling refreshed and ready for round 2.
This time I‘ve aimed for 100,000 steps per week instead of a total for running miles, though I‘m going to include those running steps in my count. I might change this as we go, depending on what happens.
I‘m also aiming for 4 books.

Well, first week of #bookfitnesschallenge done!

I met my fitness target of 10 miles this week, yay! I actually had to tag an extra 0.7 mile run on last night to get there!! 😂

Miles for week: 10.1 out of 10 target
Books for challenge: 1 out of 6 total

@wanderinglynn

My hold on this book came in at just the right time. I‘ve been listening to loads of Fleetwood Mac recently and just rewatched Almost Famous for the first time in years so it was a good fit!
I really enjoyed this book. Daisy, despite having her issues, was her own woman who did what she wanted. I also found Billy and Camilla‘s relationship interesting with what they were willing to do and accept from each other.
Continued in comments.

LoveToReadLiveToRead One thing I‘ve found is that books told is this interview style (like Sleeping Giants), or even in the form of letters (like The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society) is that I feel somewhat removed from the characters in comparison with stories told in traditional prose. That might just be me and it doesn‘t mean I don‘t enjoy the books. This and the other two I mentioned have all been picks from me but it‘s certainly something I‘ve noticed 2mo

Latest read for my real life book club.
The coming of age story of a summer romance between Elio and the American student Oliver who comes to stay with Elio and his family in Italy in the early 80s.
I liked but didn‘t love this book. The writing was beautiful but sometimes Elio‘s melodramatic teenage ways were a bit much.
I loved the setting, it was perfect for the story and liked the bittersweet ending.

Not that my TBR needs any encouragement.....it grows like a weed.....but tell me your favourite book, old or new, that you read this year! 📚
I think mine was the tagged book. I loved Cyril ‘not a real‘ Avery and his life story. ❤️

nudibranch Hands down it was "In the Distance" by Hernan Diaz, for me. It's a book about a Scandinavian boy who gets separated from his brother when they attempt to board a boat to America, and follows as he spends the rest of his life walking all over America looking for him. It comes off as magical realism sometimes...the incredible part is that it isn't, at all. 7mo

Just about to start this on audiobook. I was lucky that my library had it to download....no waiting!
Looking forward to this one.

Yesterday, whilst going about my day to day business, I thought I‘d just take a look at all the places I hoard books. In addition to the actual bookshelves in my house, I seem to squirrel away books in the following:
*bedside table (top left)
*sidetable in lounge (bottom right)
*bottom drawer of desk at work (top right)
*door pocket of my car (bottom left)
Not pictured, my handbag which currently has 2 books in it! I‘ll never be without a book!

Library haul! Love it when your reservations all come in at once!
The Deal of a Lifetime is the Christmas pick for my book club.
Everything Under I‘ve been waiting for since seeing the author Daisy Johnson talk at a book event in October.
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle because I keep seeing it everywhere & it sounds fab! I love anything with a Groundhog Day/time travel type of vibe.
Now to get them all read before they need to go back!

Pickpick

This a lovely little book with sooooo many relatable cartoons (I had a hard time picking one out for this post). It‘d make a great gift for any book lover in your life! Or you know, for yourself!

I‘ve found myself completely hooked on this book. It wasn‘t even on my radar but hubby bought it for me after he‘d bought a book I‘d already read for my birthday so swapped it for this one.

I‘ve got a growing sense of dread about the mess Bram is getting himself into......

SilversReviews It was very good....I gasped at the ending. 😊 8mo

jenniferw88 Hi, does Jack have any of the old bear books by jane hissey? I would like to include a little something for him for Christmas in your next #whodunituk parcel. 8mo
LoveToReadLiveToRead @jenniferw88 aw, that‘s so nice of you! No, he doesn‘t have any of those. PS it‘s Adam but don‘t worry, he gets Jack a lot, think it‘s because of our surname! 😁 8mo
jenniferw88 @LoveToReadLiveToRead oops, sorry! Will get Adam a small something! 😊 8mo

Let Me Lie | Clare Mackintosh

Oooo, a colleague put me onto this series where a different crime fiction author takes novelist Simon Toyne through a true crime that inspired them. Simon then tries to solve the case. The first episode was about a double murder in Ireland and was presented by Claire Mackintosh.
