What a ride, literally. This is the dystopian thriller I‘ve been waiting for! Everything seems so plausible in this book where 8 passengers of completely self-driven cars get caught inside them and are told they are being driven into collision with each other. A hacker is telling so and involves the government. All of this is to be followed worldwide. So many twists, good characters and witty dialogue. Read it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My second read by John Marrs and I loved it almost as much as the The One. Driverless cars creep me out anyway, but the idea that one could be hijacked when I‘m a passenger is downright terrifying. The chapters are fast-paced and short, and there are great twists throughout. I thought about this book anytime I wasn‘t reading it. It‘s just a lot of fun to read.
I‘m on hold for another Marrs book from my library. I can hardly wait. #rushathon
#WeeklyForecast 34/23
Just started Honeybees and Distant Thunder and it is very promising. Next will be The Passengers, a dystopian/SF book and a favorite of @Dreesreads who I follow on Instagram since she is unfortunately no longer active on Litsy (I keep hoping she‘ll return though!). And another #booker23 read, which @squirrelbrain and @TheKidUpstairs didn‘t like at all so I have low expectations.
Currently listening to this one and I‘m delighted that John Marrs included a nod to The Ones, one of his previous books which I LOVED. #rushathon
His short chapters and cliffhanger-y chapter endings make for fun reading and listening 💯
Hi, it‘s me, I‘m the problem. Currently reading 4 of these 5 books 🤣
I feel like it‘s going to be a big reading weekend!
A very fun thriller, a loose follow up to The One (not essential to the read first but I would recommend). In a not distant future UK where self driving cars are becoming common place, a group of unrelated strangers are trapped and riding towards death. Though I guessed the twist, it was still a fun, dark ride (pun intended). 4⭐️ #roll100 read done! #bookspinbingo
Excellent book that deals with themes of AI (is it really all its cracked up to be); politics (who decides who is worth saving); social media/reality tv (are others people lives entertainment). Only thing I did not enjoy was Libby's intense love of Jude after meeting once and talking/kissing at a bar - the story would work with their meeting/liking each other and more intense feelings developing later -

🎧📚 Did you read The One? There are a few callbacks in this book.
I don‘t want to spoil the story. There‘s a reason why this 3 year old book has 10 people waiting for me to finish it on Libby. I‘m going right into his 2020 release! I like the author‘s style!!
Libby is called to jury duty and the thrill begins. Multiple people are locked in their self driving cars and as the story progresses their secrets are revealed.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
8 autonomous cars have been hacked w the hacker promising The Passengers won't survive the morning. It's terrifying in its plausibility. It's a large cast but I found them interesting &easy to keep track of.I'm already a bit suspicious of technology so this book added fuel to that fire but kept me utterly entertained the whole time. I enjoyed the nods to his previous book The One & I'm determined to keep my Level 1 car for the foreseeable future!
This book provides edge-of-your-seat tension. Everyone, even the victims, has something to hide. I liked the ending and found the book to be well-written. As a TW, there are a few graphic scenes, but no gore fests. I didn't find them to be extreme, but others might.
For eight people, their self-driving cars are about to take complete control. Their doors will lock, their destination will change, and all will receive a message that they will soon die. So far, this book has kept me glued to my Kindle, waiting to see what happens next.
#LMPBC Fantastic Pick! What a fabulous book! There were so many twists and turns in this book that I didn't expect or see coming, everytime I tried to predict what would happen I would be wrong and I loved that! It kept me at the edge of my seat! Excellent read for a book club pick!
Both books that are in my possession will be shipped out this week. Hopefully tomorrow!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. By the same author as The One which I looooved! This is definitely an author to watch for. It will make you rethink your idea of autonomous cars lol! What an exciting read!!!
I thought The One was edge of your seat, but THIS was insane! @RainyDayReading you were right, I flew through it! Thanks for the rec ♥️
Note about this book - I‘m already skeptical of potential self-driving cars, and after reading this, even more so. And just the idea that technology could become so advanced and invasive - scares me 😟

This was all sorts of crazy and fun! I thoroughly enjoyed it! @suvata @DGRachel @rsteve388 #lmpbc
Downloaded the audiobook of The Passengers tonight (you're right, @DGRachel - it's excellent!) so I could listen while I made hats for a couple of camo-loving guys I know. Really enjoying this book! @suvata @rsteve388
( @LittleMouse5708 They're not done yet but one orange stripe for Justin, lots of orange for the little dude 😊)
That was terrifying and unputdownable. Now I understand why people go off the grid. Holy ****.
I‘ll say no more because it‘s a #lmpbc book, but if you want an edge-of-your-seat techno-thriller, look no further. Marrs has a gift.
Finally finished I will be sending it out tomorrow!

GREAT SCI-FI THRILLER
Artificial intelligence meets completely autonomous self-driving cars with devastating death toll. Government intrigue at it‘s scariest.

I really, really want to ready The Passengers by John Marrs. But, if you‘ve already read it or don‘t want to, no worries, I can come up several alternatives. Let me know.
Currently enjoying! 👻 🎃 🍁

This book was SO good. I couldn‘t put it down!! Such a great thriller that I honestly hadn‘t heard of before.
This one is already on its way!

4 🤯🤯🤯🤯 This novel gave me nightmares. Not bad scary, good scary. There's quite a few triggers in this one. But the thrill ride was awesome. I enjoyed reading and making notes in this one. I'm not going to divulge too much because the best part was reading this without knowing anything about the book. #BookSpinBingo #LMPBC #ROUND12 #GROUPF @TheAromaofBooks @Alfrazier21 @Reynosa8701 @magyklyXdelish
I had a lot of fun with this one. The suspense was great even from the beginning. My only complaint was towards the end it did slow down a bit but I still really liked it.
Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the #LMPBC crew thinks. I mailed this one out yesterday 🤗
16 this month for #BookSpinBingo
5/5 stars! I was enthralled with this book within the first chapter! Nice short chapters and I cared about the characters so much that sometimes I was seriously mad at the book! I had to take a half day break half way threw the book though because I feel like it was a very heavy read. I cried multiple times during this book. There are spoilers for his book The One in this book. So make sure to read The One first!
The Passengers is a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat techno-thriller set in the near future where autonomous vehicles are mandatory on British roads. The government claims that these vehicles are the safest possible option and cannot be hacked, but since this is a thriller, that is obviously not the case. I think some of the intensity fizzled out towards the end and I was left with a couple unanswered questions, but overall, I really enjoy it! 4⭐️
One of the books on my Kindle TBR list.

"When people are part of a mob, they stop being individuals, their inhibitions disappear, they don't follow their normal moral compass..."
This book raises interesting topics, such
as: the harm and benefits of modern technologies, the behavior of people in a crowd, the impact of social networks on people's lives. But most of all, it's a Thriller! The suspense of the story increases with each page! ??
I recently read The One and knew I had to read this book. I loved the fast paced and thrilling ride it took us on. I loved the characters and the story. John Marrs is quickly becoming a must read author for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I had surgery on my foot last week so I haven‘t been keeping up with my reviews. Here‘s the short short version...
Lumberjanes vol 3-The art changed and it lost some magic for me. 3⭐️
What I Carry- surprise 4⭐️. YA book about aging out of foster care. Really liked this!
Book Woman- 4⭐️ great historical fiction about the blue people of KY and pack horse librarians.
Passengers-4⭐️ great thriller! Great potential for a book club. Lots to discuss
Really enjoyed this one! About driverless cars in society and what could go wrong. A number of surprises throughout and good ending. Recommend for a good, easy and enjoyable read!!
The passengers by John Marrs was an awesome read. It's about these smart cars that get hijacked and our told that they will all be dead within 2 hours. I loved reading about the different characters and the secrets they held. I loved reading about the choices people have to make on deciding who lives and who should die. What a fun read.
Action-packed and thought-provoking, I enjoyed this one!
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I joined a book club and am insecure about my ability to analyze fiction, so before I try to do it on the book club pick, I'm practicing on my current read, The Passengers. My method is to summarize each chapter as I go along on my tablet. I'll also make any additional notes. It takes a lot of time to do this, but I think I'll retain much more of the text this way. By the way, I'm enjoying this book. It's an easy read, just what I need now!
The Passengers was an interesting insight into the future of technology and A.I. In placing so much of our freedom in the hands of A.I. and technology, are we giving up more than we realize? I love that the story is told from multiple perspectives making this one of the most fast-paced books I've ever read. It was simultaneously action packed and thought provoking.

The Passengers was excellent. It showed some disgusting sides of humanity. Marrs seems to specialize in psychopaths. But definitely thrilling read. Some of my initial guesses proved to be correct in the end. I misread a couple of circumstances. The editing could have been better. There were a few spelling errors, grammatical errors and inconsistencies that should have been caught by a decent editor which irks me.
