My husband and I are supposed to be watching the most recent episode of The Outsider right now, but he fell asleep while we got the kids to bed (as always... 😒). So I downloaded this as part of my “Finish Series I‘ve Already Started” goal of 2020. I really didn‘t think I had read this yet, but the beginning seems very familiar. Maybe there was a teaser at the end of book 3?
I told myself I was going to be really productive and #audioclean while the kids were at daycare today... but it‘s way more fun to #audiocrochet
I‘m giving myself 20 minutes before I make myself get up and vacuum...
Early morning coffee shop date with myself :)
I'm hoping I get more invested in this book soon... I really think thrillers just aren't my thing.
I didn‘t love this quite as much as The Long Way To a Small, Angry Planet, but it still had many of the same things going for it - a loveable cast of quirky characters trying to find their own way in the universe.
I had a couple somewhat difficult weeks at work and I dont know if my principal noticed this, or was just excited about what I've had going on lately - but this was a nice boost to end my week. She also sent out a nice email to all the teachers about some of the cool programs I've got going on and encouraging them to use the library. This is the first "Saturday Shout Out" she's done all year - maybe something new shes doing... ?♀️
I really did not anticipate how popular this whole community puzzle was going to be - but I‘ve had groups of kids so excited about it and they‘ve almost got it completed already! These are kids who come to the library from study hall and usually just play games on their iPads. Now they‘re asking what puzzle I‘m going to bring in next!
I really liked this middle grade novels about humans searching for a place to live after they have destroyed Earth. They discover a planet that invites them in as refugees, only to arrive and find the government has changed its mind and they have no where else to go. It draws a lot of parallels to current events, in a way that is accessible to middle grade readers.
Snow day!!!!! 🌨🌨❄❄
I dont usually gravitate towards thrillers, but this is for my book club. I'm a few chapters in and definitely intrigued.
Finished this while enjoying and #audiowalk after work today. It looks gross out, but there was sun! These books have so much teen angst and drama, and I enjoyed every minute of it.
I absolutely loved the artwork and coloring in this - gorgeous! Unfortunately the story was all over the place and the main character annoyed the crap out of me... I‘d love to frame some of the pages and hang them on my wall though! I‘ll get this in the mail Friday

One child woke up from her nap with a high fever today, the other woke up with a gushing nose bleed. The only thing this day has going for it is some good #bookmail
My plan while the kids took their naps was to start my next book... that's not exactly what happened. Woke up to this gem on my phone, so at least my husband is around to catch my more glamorous moments! 🤣
I loved this book so much! And really, I read it at the perfect time. We're in the middle of a snowstorm and last night I swear I couldn't tell if I was cold because our house is old and drafty, or because I was just so into the story. I'm really looking forward to the companion novels.
Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus was one of my top 5 books of 2018- I loved it so much that I read it to both of my 6th grade book clubs and have convinced probably a dozen students since then to read it. The sequel didn‘t quite live up to my expectations, although it was still very good. I laughed and I cried, but never had that “OMG This is the best book ever” feeling.
Our school is hosting a regional robotics tournament today and the practice field is in the library - which means the library is closed. There‘s things I definitely should be doing, but I‘ll probably be found right here for most of the day...

I finally finished a book - it feels like I haven't had any time for reading this year! I didnt love this as much as I hoped, but I did enjoy it. Lada is a great character and I really liked the setting. I sometimes found myself losing track of secondary characters and getting a little bogged down in the political intrigue though
Starting the border on this blanket that‘s consumed my life for the past month... didn‘t get it done by Christmas, but I‘m almost there. Naturally all my audiobook holds came in at once, so I‘ve got to decide which to start tonight. #audiocrochet
My first book of the new year and I am loving it!
Veronica and Stoker travel to a small British island to investigate the 3 year old mystery of a woman who disappeared on her wedding night. It was a solid mystery - I guessed some, but not all of the plot twists. There was *finally* some progress towards a romantic relationship between Stoker and Veronica, which made me very happy. I really, really love this series!
For Christmas in 2012, a friend gifted me this notebook. Starting in January 2013, I wrote the title and author of every book I‘ve read. December 2019 filled the last page and I am getting ready to start a new reading log. I don‘t know why, but this feels like a significant accomplishment...
I didn‘t hate it, I just didn‘t really like it either. I can see how people would have a lot of fun with this series, I just think it isn‘t my sense of humor. I‘m going to pass it along without reading volume 2. @LibrarianRyan @aCleverDuck @rachelm I‘m hoping to make it to the post office this afternoon but if not today, definitely Thursday. #lmpbc
Finally get a moment to relax with a book and my favorite foot rest. Then I hear a little voice over the baby monitor... Some day she will sleep through the night, right?!
And my husband‘s Christmas book haul... because we all know that one of the perks of marriage is that your spouse‘s books are also your books! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My mom got him the Witcher books and I got him the Star Wars
I finished this yesterday while the kids napped off their Christmas morning excitement. I actually listened to most of it and thought the audiobook was really well done. I wasn‘t completely blown away by the story, but I really liked Alex and Darlington. I‘ll pick up the second book when it comes out.
Yesterday was chaos in the library... like I literally had a fistfight between two teenage boys and over the course of the day had to kick 6 students out. I never kick students out of the library... Christmas break seriously cannot come soon enough.
I‘m hoping for a calm, quiet day today - and maybe a little time to read!
