The Lord of the Rings, reread after 10 years. Savored this book over the month of January and didn‘t want it to end. It was a much more emotional read for me this time, all around.

I joked to a friend that Jacinda Ardern definitely deserves Second Breakfast for her accomplishments & humility (a rarity in politics), although on reflection I'm thinking Elevenses would be better as brunch > breakfast/lunch...🤔
Many years ago my son and I read this together alternating between by the fireside and being wrapped up in blankets outside on winter nights.
My “big book” for 2023 with my mom is Tolkien‘s trilogy, which I‘ve never read. I loved The Hobbit, which we read together a few years ago. It‘s such a cultural touchstone and I‘m late, but finally coming to the party, by way of this decrepit set my library gave away.
Today‘s gift 🎁 Woot! Doing a reread in January ❄️

Today it‘s National Christmas Movie Marathon Day. So for today‘s Daily Challenge post any combination of your Favourite Christmas Movie, your favourite book to movie or the book(s) that should be made into movies.
For me it still takes a lot to beat It‘s A Wonderful Life 😢😭, loved the Lord of the Rings Films, and think the Ben Hope Series by Scott Mariani would be great films.
*starts humming Rudolph the red nose reindeer*
Not me immediately hitting YouTube to watch Aragon make his entrance at Helm‘s Deep
For the obvious reason 😍 I had an elf-crush back then 😅

10. Either!
#thisorthat I love these!

We're on a short break to North Yorkshire, and staying in the shadow of Ingleborough, a hill which puts me in mind of Weathertop from the Lord of the Rings movies.
Co-incidentally, the person who stayed here before us has left their A****n account active, so (🤫 don't tell Jeff) I've just binged The Rings of Power! Once I stopped trying to align it with the actual history of Middle-earth, I began to enjoy it as pastiche rather than adaptation.
You all are welcome here!
I felt like Hobbit Day was the perfect time to pull this out. 🧝🏾♂️🤓🥰📚
Thanks for the tag @wanderinglynn 😺
1- Fantasy or horror
2- Absolutely

When you watch The Rings of Power, you have to play your new card game.

Feeling exhausted after my first week back at school and my coivd booster yesterday. On the bright side, I finally don‘t have a migraine, so I can maybe pick up my library holds today and walk the dog. Starting slow with the Fellowship audiobook and some Stardew Valley. I‘ve just made it to Bree and I‘m really enjoying the hobbit antics, especially all of his friends being on to Frodo‘s plan because of his sadboy comments everywhere they went 😂
Has anyone been watching Rings of Power? I find myself not overly curious… but haven‘t ruled out watching it one day.
Rewatching the first two episodes of The Rings of Power while eating stew, bread, and cheese! This is the best combination ever! 💕📚💕
Have you watched any of the show yet? I'm really loving it so far!
I will soon have these cuties to add to my Build-a-Bear collection. 😍💛
Thanks for the tag @inthegreensandblues
I'm not sure how many times I've read Tolkien's books, at least 10 or 11. I've Watership Down, Ninth House, Dark Matter and Interview with the Vampire twice and I'm slowly working through my third or fourth reading of Harry Potter 🧡

#Trilogy
My favorite trilogy. I am hoping the Rings of Power will be good. Is anyone planning on watching?
One of my favourite parts about spending ~608 minutes in a movie theatre to watch a trilogy that I‘ve seen multiple times is knowing that we were all repressing the urge to whisper to the person next to us “you know he broke some toes when he kicked that helmet?” & instead just settled on laughing simultaneously at what was meant to be a moment of anguish when Aragon thinks Merry & Pippin are dead.
♥️ that for us. Keeping it normal since 2002.
Remastered in 4K? Ok then, twist my arm 😜
When you are a complete book nerd and you move, obviously things like this are a priority! I love our new sign. It‘s the perfect way to christen our woods behind our home. 🍃 📚 🍂
1) I do! The tagged volume & the Powell's Indispensable slipcase editions are among my favorite decorative objects.
2) Aside from responsibilities? Litsy & BookTube.

Still working on LOTR, but work came first. 🤣🤣🤣 Anyways, one of my fave lines. So amazing.
Don‘t mind if I do!
It‘s been a long time since I‘ve been excited to sit in the dark for an extended period of time with strangers and an even longer time since I‘ve seen the original and not extended edition versions of the LOTR films.
Soooooo, this is really more of a comfort read. I‘ve never actually bought the books, I just kept getting them from the library. Now I have the complete set in one book. Wish me luck. 🥰
