Cold Days: A Novel of the Dresden Files | Jim Butcher

HARRY DRESDEN LIVES!!! After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad. Because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness. After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long. And now, her word is his command, no matter what she wants him to do, no matter where she wants him to go, and no matter who she wants him to kill. Guess which Mab wants first? Of course, it won’t be an ordinary, everyday assassination. Mab wants her newest minion to pull off the impossible: kill an immortal. No problem there, right? And to make matters worse, there exists a growing threat to an unfathomable source of magic that could land Harry in the sort of trouble that will make death look like a holiday. Beset by enemies new and old, Harry must gather his friends and allies, prevent the annihilation of countless innocents, and find a way out of his eternal subservience before his newfound powers claim the only thing he has left to call his own…His soul.

With regard to the current weather in Chicago... I don't want to point any fingers, but we all know about Harry Dresden's "dealings" with the Winter Court. Just sayin'...

I won't go into any more details to avoid spoilers ?

Stay safe, everyone!

maich @Katerina did you get my package? I sent it in December. Hope it didn't lost. 🤔 5mo

#31bookpics #autumnal Nothing says autumn like rereading The Dresden Files, a task I undertake every few years. I read them all last year, so they‘re enjoying a break this year.

#readingresolutions #mustreread I love this series with my entire heart. It‘s far from perfect, but I love the characters & the story & the world.

ShelleyBooksie Ditto. Hands down my favourite fantasy series. I love Dresd3n. 10mo
RestlessFickleBookHoarder Weird question - are those written in the first person? 10mo

Rudis @RestlessFickleBookHoarder Yes, they‘re written in first person - we see things from Harry‘s POV. And not a weird question at all! 😊 10mo
RestlessFickleBookHoarder I'm wondering if that's why I disliked the first book so much. I'm not even sure I finished it. My husband loves them and he thought I would too. He says maybe I should just skip the first book. He says the first is the worst and maybe I'd like the second better. 10mo
RestlessFickleBookHoarder I asked about POV because I honestly couldn't remember anything about the book except for my distaste for it 😂 10mo
Rudis @RestlessFickleBookHoarder that‘s fair! 😂 The first book is easily the worst in the series - you can jump into book three and start with that, honestly. It‘s where a lot of the overarching plot of the series starts. 10mo
RestlessFickleBookHoarder I may give it another try....someday. 😁 10mo

Have I mentioned how much I love Harry Dresden....this guy is a freak'n wizard, with attitude, who has faced quite a few baddies...baddies as bad as they come, with a fairy godmother in tow and everything, he us tall dark and handsome and he is sooo socially akward and this is so relatable!!!!! 😀😀😀😀

#readingresolutions #foolish I feel like “foolish” is often a pretty good descriptor for Dresden!

#readingresolutions #favourite author I knew I‘d never narrow it to just one, so how about Top Five? Tamara Pierce, Terry Pratchett, Seanen McGuire, Charles de Lint & Jim Butcher.

Yeah_I_Read Every Heart a Doorway is excellent!!! Great series ❤️ 1y

I know I say this almost every other book, but I really loved this one. It's not my favourite in the series, but it's one with a lot of changes to the status quo & finding out some truths, oh and Santa Claus.

JazzFeathers This is one of those series l keep thinking l want to read... though l'm not very good with series. How many books are there, now? A you reading a book a day? 😱 2y
Rudis @JazzFeathers There are fifteen in the main series, plus one anthology. It's a really good series, although it can be hard to get into. And yes, I am! 😊Mostly cause I've had the late shift at work. 2y

Whoa. There was a lot going on in this one. How is it no one is making these books into movies? This would be such an awesome movie. 🎥

Dolly That's pretty cool how the color pattern worked out.❤️ 2y
sarielizbeth It's called color pooling, it takes some practice to get it to work, but once it does it's pretty awesome! @Dolly 2y

Woah the drama in this book was unreal. I love how crazy fun these stories are. This series is fantastic urban fantasy. On to the next and then I'll be all caught up 😕. Love this series.

As always, Marsters is a brilliant narrator. Another great installment in the series, even if Butcher does keep ripping my heart out and poking at it.

I'm really enjoying this series. When I'm at work I listen to audiobooks and the narrator for this series, James Marsters, is great.
