I enjoyed it. Something different. Can definitely see the influence to new work such as “Tanis“ and “You should have left“

@mushroom_Miu we are doing a book reading we have set goals to read the book thank you @paperwitchs for your suggestion #bookdisscusion #spookstopics #intresting
I had heard many great things about this book over the years and was eagerly expecting to be blown away, but wasn‘t. Don‘t get me wrong—I admire what Danielewski does with form and style, and how he uses format to mirror the events and atmosphere of the story. The horror part fell flat for me BECAUSE of the format. I felt that the format held me at arm‘s length from the action and I never got to experience it with the characters. That‘s just me!
Bookspin card for May!
I've been struggling to concentrate on reading these last few weeks - first with the excitement of holidays and now with the anticlimax of being back from holidays and exhausted. Fingers crossed I'll be able to immerse myself in imaginary worlds again pretty soon 🤞
Bookspin & doublespin this month are both #pop22 titles and #roll100 included Voodoo Histories which is the book that I've had the longest on my TBR...
"Ever see yourself doing something in the past and no matter how many times you remember it you still want to scream stop, somehow redirect the action, reorder the present? I feel that way now, watching myself tugged stupidly along by inertia, my own inquisitiveness ... "
Finally tackling this big boy. So excited, and a bit intimidated that it‘ll go right over my head #tbr #2022 #bigbook #chunksterchallenge
What did I just read?! It was creepy and I enjoyed it but also it was hard to get through.
Took a little while to get through this one. This was a strange novel, a little aggravating at times, but was definitely an interesting read. Some of it was pretty creepy. I preferred the parts about the house and the Navidson family.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The book was insane, and you feel insane reading it. The more you engage with the book, the more insane you get, and the book knows that. That‘s what the book wants.
Trippy haunted house story...Of course I liked it! You don't have to read the footnotes to enjoy the book, but they definitely add to the story.

Currently reading House of Leaves. I started it back in September and kept setting it aside for the holiday books. Now I‘m working on finishing it and finally on the last quarter of it. It‘s a chunkster and not like anything I‘ve ever read. Also still reading The Shadow Over Innsmouth in the Kindle Lovecraft collection.

Thanks for the tag @MoonWitch94
✨ My goals are to read 70 books for GR Challenge, catch up on reviews, read more of the books I already own, and work on series I haven‘t finished yet.
✨ Mindful
✨ Yes, it‘s definitely interesting.

I really honest to God found this book wonderful. If you are looking for an dark, weird, rule-bending novel that is somehow still fairly accessible, I would recommend this book. The world building, with its faux footnotes referencing authors, films, books, & magazines both real & imagined is truly immersive. I may not have thought I was looking for a book that combined Pynchon, DFW, “The Ring” and “The Blair Witch Project”, but it turns out I was!
My #WeeklyForecast for all of December. Ambitious. But I do have some time off coming up. The top row is all books I'm committed to: #doublespin (@TheAromaofBooks) #OokBOokClub (@JulesG) #IRLBookClub #NYRBBookClub (@vivastory) #ARC #bookspin.
The second row is mostly #LibraryLottery but I'd also like to try and fit in a couple for #cloakanddaggerchristmas (@merelybookish) and some #inprogress.
We'll see where things end up I guess!
@Cinfhen
#GratefulHarvest #Leaves People love this book, hate it , or are just plain confused by it! Still on my TBR , wondering when I will eventually dive in.
Thank you so much @Mitch for this package! The leaves fit right in with my fall bookshelf decor I'm putting the zombies right on my outer french doors as soon as I locate the tape! So excited for House of Leaves! I've flipped through and I can't wait for it. I haven't heard of the other books but they all sound perfect for me! I'm hiding the skittles (nom nom nom) but the toddler already laid claim to the adorable bat bag 🤣 such a great gift!!

Wow! So proud of myself, after 2 failed attempts, I finally finished ! So happy. The book was amazing, well worth the wait!
The best way to describe this book is tedious. Not necessarily in a bad way though. I‘m glad I read it and I‘m even more glad that I chose to start it while I was stuck in the hospital with no distractions. I‘m not sure I would have made it through if I had my attention anywhere else. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ok littens wish me luck! This will be my third attempt to read this book! Normally I don‘t give books this many chances but I cannot give up on this one for some reason.
I haven‘t read this one yet, but I‘ve heard it‘s quite #disturbing. I need to be mentally prepared for it. On my #TBR

House of Leaves has over the years become something of a cult classic. Creepy and very Stephen Kingish in my opinion.
The book‘s epitaph is: This is not for you. And maybe it isn‘t. Maybe it‘s a warning. Maybe it‘s a challenge. It‘s a love story. It‘s a horror story. It‘s a sad story. It‘s all true. It‘s all those things. I felt so many emotions reading this book. The biggest emotion was satisfaction. Because I finished. Right? But no. Like the labyrinth at its center, this book is never done with you. 203/1,001 #1001Books
Finally adding this beast to shelves. However, I have this weird desire to go camping with people and read this book together. Anyone down to see how much we can get done in two weeks? No… Oh well, I guess I‘m on my own.😱
I know that a lot of people found this book terrifying but I wasn‘t one of them. I appreciate what Danielewski did with style and format, and it was very clever, but it also served to keep me, the reader, at a distance from the story. I was never allowed to become immersed in the story, to experience the events with the characters. I was disappointed since I had heard how scary this book was, but the format prevented the development of it for me.
I‘m loving the book so far and am enjoying the format. The only thing that is bugging me is that the narrator keeps saying “would of” instead of “would have!” Obviously this was a deliberate stylistic choice by the author, but he says it so OFTEN!! It‘s driving me crazy!! 😡
This has been on my tbr shelf FOREVER! I‘m so excited to be starting it today. 👏🤞
My little nerd heart went a little crazy when my boyfriend gave me my birthday present early. A bookcase!
On Christmas eve 2018 we lost everything in an apartment fire, including the bookcases I had just gotten to house my extensive book collection. Replacing books has taken much longer than I thought it would, but I am so happy.
Also, who displays their book of the months by their date instead of alphabetically?

1. Blindness by Jose Saramago. Not only was it an excellent story, but it was a unique and challenging read in its formatting.
2. House of Leaves, though it was probably intentional by the author.
Everything I‘ve read about this book has me extremely intrigued. I don‘t know when I‘ll start this one but flipping through it is just wow. Very unique
DNFing this book/putting it down for now, its a dark and depressing book and it‘s doing my mental health no good
Recording my first House of Leaves #podcast episode now. I was supposed to record yesterday on its 21st anniversary, but I had inexplicable and never-before technical difficulties; My computer simply could not hear my voice. (“Pick up please mom hello?”) Which seems appropriate for this novel of high strangeness. Here we go for the 1st ep, entitled “Bone-Chimes and Primitive Spiders”, available this evening, if no further high strangeness occurs.
I have been wanting to tackle this chunk of a novel for awhile. It has finally arrived in the mail & after a book bail, I felt this may be the perfect time to dive in. I am a bit intimidated by this work of art, yet so eager to start it.
One particular rabbit hole I often go down is the What Culture Horror YouTube channel. Here‘s their list of must read horror. Comment below if you agree or disagree. I‘ve read two off the list and didn‘t like them. A few others on my #TBR.
Spoiler- No Grady Hendrix so boooooo.

I had misplaced my copy. I recently found it...fat with torn-up papers marking pages...So. Intermingled with episodes on other topics, for the rest of this year I am going to do a deep-dive on this book & its accompanying album, Haunted, by Mark's sister, Poe. There will be geeky analysis and reaction podcasting. I'll podcast as I go & do psychology/history/parapsychology/physics geek-dives 😉 like I did with Stephen King's Eclipse series (ep 19).
I give up. I‘m not enjoying the story and I‘m always confused as to what the hell is actually going on.
The hubby bought me this beast. I‘ve no idea when I‘ll get around to it but I‘m so excited 🤩
😬😬 a hundred pages in and it is definitely making me feel things!
Now that's a first, had to use 2 bookmarks to keep track of my reading! A real labyrinth of a book, loved it!
This was definitely a weird book. Several times I thought I wasn‘t going to finish it but then something would happen and I had to read on. Wasn‘t that scary but definitely an odd book for sure!
