A fascinating walk through the golden age of comics in America during World War II. The book follows two cousins as they create the character “The Escapist”. A fascinating story, though a bit slow a times.

This one took me forever to read, but man, it was so worth the time investment. Just a really incredible story about two cousins who get famous in the comic book industry during the Golden Age, but it‘s also so much more than that.

Hopefully I can get back on track with life now. (Also major apologies to @Mynameisacolour for taking forever to write you back. I promise I haven‘t forgotten you!!)

If you like magic, New York City, the 1940s, or comic books, then you need to read this one. The story follows the lives of two friends and comic book co-creators. Chabon's characters are eccentric, flawed, and lovable.

I read this book a couple years ago and loved it. Set against the Golden Age of comic books, the story spans through the years and the world, which is changing fast around the two cousins. If you like historical novels, superhero comics, and interesting and nuanced characters, this is a real fun book to read.

I wrote this in a comment on another review & realized I ought to just post it. I loved this book. Loved it. When my aunt was dying of pancreatic cancer, she and my mom buddy-read it, and when they were done my aunt made the decision not to try to read anything else because (she said) she didn‘t want to die halfway through a book & she was satisfied with AAK&K being the last book she would ever read.

There were times I thought maybe this could‘ve been told in fewer words, but no, it‘s really just right. I alternated between print and audio, and truly had trouble putting it down. Chabon‘s writing is just so damned good. It‘s very intricate yet readable. I got lost in his world of comic books, Jewish lore, magic, and war. #pulitzer #chunkster

In the pre-holiday craziness I forgot to post a photo of my amazing #secretsantagoespostal goodies. Thank you so much @britt_brooke this is wonderful! The book selection is spot on and the goodies are great. My husband already cracked into my gum. The pouch is so pretty. I love everything. Thanks again!

britt_brooke So happy you like everything! I had a lot of fun shopping for you. Happy holidays! 2y
