I had some issues with this book and when I saw that Tucker Max was the ghostwriter, I understood why. His voice really came through in certain parts. I really wish she had picked someone else to ghostwrite... Her stories are interesting, funny, and sometimes tragic. Unfortunately, they just have a Tucker Max feel.

alanacristin Ohh. I'm curious what the Tucker Max feel is? I listened to this as an audiobook, and she just sounded like she was naturally telling her story as she would at a performance. I've never watched her stand up though so maybe it felt off here. 7mo

I put this book on hold and then was surprised when it arrived pretty quickly. Turns out I accidentally put the large print version on hold, but I might keep this trick in mind for other popular books!

I‘m a climate scientist, so I read a lot of books about climate change and weather. This is a book of essays about various historical disasters and how humans respond to them. Then, the author looks at climate change and how our resilience to past catastrophes can shape how we respond to climate change. It is a fast read, incredibly well-written, and leaves me with a sense of hope. All of you should read this!

SeeJulieRead Also, I would recommend this book for everyone - not just scientists! 1y
EricaReads Sounds great! Any other recommendations? I‘m a science teacher and love to read science non-fiction. Haven‘t read many climate science books though! 1y
