My lovely, clever, marvelous #Littens . I recently started rewatching Bones. And I‘ve realized I haven‘t read any of the books that the show is based on.
Are they any good? Should I give them a try?

I enjoyed this first book in a series. It‘s set in Canada and the French was a little challenging to muddle through. It is also set in the 1990s, so interesting to see how the characters handle being cut off from each other when they leave their homes & how dependent the are on their answering machines.
This is a interesting story about a coroner in Canada that is on a case that turns dangerous. I‘m not sure how I feel about the character‘s commentary about the details about her surroundings.
Blew through this one in a day. It‘s definitely a far cry from one of my favorite television shows - Bones. However if you look at it as it‘s own thing it was fine. 3 ⭐️
Temperance Brennan of the books is a middle aged, recovering alcoholic with a daughter in college. She‘s not the most socially adept person, but she lacks the awkward charm of her alter ego on Bones. The humour and relationships I loved in Bones were completely lacking in the novel. The whole book is rather dry and if it hadn‘t been so short, I might have given up on it.
To be fair, it is a first novel of a series, so maybe the books get better.
Finally decided to start the Bones series... quite different from the TV series huh? I guess we'll just have to see how this continues to play out.

1. Sometimes I can guess at least part of the twist, but rarely all
2. Reich‘s Temperance Brennon, Patterson‘s Alex Cross,& I get frustrated the dysfunction, but Cornwell‘s Scarpetta
3. Tropes: none-well, my IRL book club tends to read WW2 books about ordinary people doing extraordinary things & I like those.
4. My family. Also, today my grandson starts Kindergarten & my granddaughter starts Preschool.( hope they stay safe)

Being a first book there were certainly some growing pains present. The pacing and plotting felt off. The animosity between Claudel and Brennan felt super forced. That being said, it held my attention throughout. the action largely exist in the last thirty or so pages. Tempe was seriously frustrating in this one. Going off all half-cocked, rushing headlong into dangerous situations with zero planning.
Well nice to know some things never change. Tempe has been a moron since book one. Good to know.
📚Review- Deja Dead- Kathy Reichs📚
After leaving her rocky marriage in North Carolina, Dr. Temperance Brennan goes to Quebec to help identify bones.
When bones of women begin to be discovered dismembered and in trash bags, Temperance is quick to see a possible pattern. No one wants to believe her and she starts doing her own investigation.
Can she prove there‘s a pattern? The killer is getting closer and he can almost touch her.
1st book if the Bones series, alot of details are different than the show. I like the show still
I tried, I really did but just couldn't get into this. I dont particularly like Temperance and unusually the level of detail put me off. Despite having a scientific background myself, think I'd prefer more focus of characters than the science, it was all very dry.

I started out with some twilight zone (the new one. Pretty good, yet still feels a bit retro?) and have moved onto Bones.
I still haven‘t seen all the episodes of Bones, and still need to read the books. I think I have 3 on my shelves.
But for now the season 3 finale is on TV. I was so shocked by this episode and it still upsets me to this day :(
Started another series. Why do I do this to myself? 🤦🏻♀️
Slow beginning but hooked me after I got used to all the French and forensic speak.
Its #CrimeADay time. My little one is asleep. Now it's me time. Let's play with some bones. Haha that sounds bad.

📚LET'S PROMOTE READING AND OUR LOVE OF BOOKS!📚
I accepted this challenge from a friend to post the covers of books that I love for 10 days. No explanation. No criticism or reviews. Just the covers. Each day, I am going to ask a friend to take up the challenge (only if you want to).
Day 1

Book 1 in the Tempe Brennan series and I've got to say it was fantastic 🙂 Such an entertaining read, I can't wait to read the next one.
#murder2020 (book 10) #MountTBR (book 2)
Finally started the Temperance Brennan series 😊
TV show, Bones, is based upon this series. Tempe Brennan, Quebec‘s director of forensic anthropology, is in search of a serial killer which has killed her best friend and has her daughter in mortal danger. A slow beginning but fascinating look of working in a coroner‘s office. Harrowing plot and characters. Impeccable writing and suspenseful. Looking forward to book 2 and recommended to those who love gripping thrillers.

Gotta play catch up on #chillingphotochallenge and help earn #scarathlon points for #teamslaughter ! Day 25 #death is front in center in my current read.
@Clwojick
It's been a really rough weekend for reading. I've been trying to read between these, the first for myself, the second a read through with my youngest. But we've had company and laundry and cooking and cleaning etc. I'm gonna have to do one of these #24b4monday readathons when it's my kid's weekend with their dad! Hopefully I can get a couple more hours in before falling asleep!
#teamslaughter @Clwojick
I'm a bit late but I'm taking a lunch break and this #alphabetbookishquiz looked like fun. 🤗
Great idea @RealLifeReading 📚💜

1) had to Google: Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden - one of the songs from 1998 that I actually liked
2) Aries (very fitting)
3) Kathy Reichs - loved Tempe Brennan, her books made me read English books and pursue my love of science
4) @Moony
Playing catchup on things I‘ve missed. Thanks @LokiDokey for the tag!
1. Falling in love, meet cutes, rescues even though I‘m married I‘ll always be a hopeless romantic
2. A hostess at a local restaurant - Wecks
3. The Shadow of the Wind
4. I honestly don‘t read this genre and it‘s one of the few that I don‘t. But I do remember liking the Temperance Brennen books.
5. Anyone who hasn‘t done this yet!
I kept trying and trying to get into this one and ended up only being able to read one or two pages each time before I had to put it down. I really wanted to read this series because I enjoy the television show loosely based off of it, but I just couldn‘t get into it. It‘s pretty rare that I bail on a book, but this one was just not holding my interest.
I really enjoyed the forensics and investigation details in this book. It was super creepy at times. Overall, I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
OMG @whippoorwill815 you outdid yourself. Thank you so SO much for everything! It was all wrapped and packaged so beautifully too. I think I‘m most impressed that a coffee mug made it all the way here without a scratch. All three books look amazing, especially the one Bones is based on! I can‘t wait to use this excuse to dive into two new series now. 😍

To fans of Kathy Reichs, she is taking a sabbatical. I wish her rest & good health.
She posted an announcement on her website: https://kathyreichs.com/dear-readers/
I finally tried the Temperance Brennan series as I've not read the books or watched 'Bones' the tv series loosely based on the author & character. My niece said my personality reminded her of the MC & while I don't know that I see it, I'll take it.😆I liked the story, the Montreal setting & the forensic details which are right up my alley. It was narrated by Amy Irving who did an excellent job & was a quick 5-hour listen. I'm on hold for book 2.👍
I actually like this better than the television show. But isn't that what we always say about the book? 😉 #thebookisbetter
Lots of blood, guts, and creepiness for my #audiowalk this morning.
#LittensDressedInBlood
Sooooo not technically a "read" (although I have a few Kathy Reichs novels) but when I'm feeling especially like an #insomniac I like to curl up with a familiar tv show and I'm currently rewatching Bones when I'm trying to sleep.
Typically a book will keep me up instead of lulling me to slumber... but maybe I need to pick up a thick historical anthology??? ?
#autumnreads #insomniacreads
I usually don't find too many books set in places I've visited, but I love these books and I love Montreal!! Most people hate it, but I think it's beautiful.
