In the year since Temperance Brennan left behind a shaky marriage in North Carolina, work has often preempted her weekend plans to explore Quebec. When a female corpse is discovered meticulously dismembered and stashed in trash bags, Temperance detects an alarming patternand she plunges into a harrowing search for a killer. But her investigation is about to place those closest to herher best friend and her own daughterin mortal danger A genius at building suspense (Daily News, New York), Kathy Reichss Temperance Brennan books are ripe with intricate settings and memorable characters (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

Indulge me please as I share a major feat: I was really unwilling to shell out cash for a new copy of this, as the other Temperance books I have looked boring and were just eventually donated, mainly bec I wanted to read the 1st book. Finally, after more than a year, I found this at a 2nd hand bookshop! I bought the pre-series though (book consisting of stories and novella that showed how Temperance came to be) & greatly enjoyed that.

1) had to Google: Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden - one of the songs from 1998 that I actually liked
2) Aries (very fitting)
3) Kathy Reichs - loved Tempe Brennan, her books made me read English books and pursue my love of science
4) @Moony

Playing catchup on things I‘ve missed. Thanks @LokiDokey for the tag!
1. Falling in love, meet cutes, rescues even though I‘m married I‘ll always be a hopeless romantic
2. A hostess at a local restaurant - Wecks
3. The Shadow of the Wind
4. I honestly don‘t read this genre and it‘s one of the few that I don‘t. But I do remember liking the Temperance Brennen books.
5. Anyone who hasn‘t done this yet!

Eggs Thanks for joining in 🌸💗 5mo

LibrarianJen @LokiDokey it was a summer job right after high school at the one in Rio Rancho. It wasn‘t bad, but the balloonists were always assholes. “We need a table for 15 like now” I‘m sorry that will be a 45 minute wait. “Can‘t you make exceptions?” No! Bailedbailed

I kept trying and trying to get into this one and ended up only being able to read one or two pages each time before I had to put it down. I really wanted to read this series because I enjoy the television show loosely based off of it, but I just couldn‘t get into it. It‘s pretty rare that I bail on a book, but this one was just not holding my interest.

OMG @whippoorwill815 you outdid yourself. Thank you so SO much for everything! It was all wrapped and packaged so beautifully too. I think I‘m most impressed that a coffee mug made it all the way here without a scratch. All three books look amazing, especially the one Bones is based on! I can‘t wait to use this excuse to dive into two new series now. 😍

I finally tried the Temperance Brennan series as I've not read the books or watched 'Bones' the tv series loosely based on the author & character. My niece said my personality reminded her of the MC & while I don't know that I see it, I'll take it.😆I liked the story, the Montreal setting & the forensic details which are right up my alley. It was narrated by Amy Irving who did an excellent job & was a quick 5-hour listen. I'm on hold for book 2.👍

DebinHawaii Although I just realized that my library Overdrive carries the abridged editions & the unabridged is 16 hours. Now I wonder what all I missed! 😬🤔😆 1y
Godmotherx5 I read it so long ago, I can‘t even pretend to tell you. I started reading Kathy Reich‘s when she only had four books. My guess is you did not miss much because I think it‘s the second book that goes into more detail about her personal life. 1y

Sooooo not technically a "read" (although I have a few Kathy Reichs novels) but when I'm feeling especially like an #insomniac I like to curl up with a familiar tv show and I'm currently rewatching Bones when I'm trying to sleep.

Typically a book will keep me up instead of lulling me to slumber... but maybe I need to pick up a thick historical anthology??? ?

Mystery on the opposite end of the spectrum now. More science heavy and along the lines of a police procedural, Kathy Reichs keels you reading with interesting anthropological facts and good action. I started reading these after watching the tv show and am so glad I did.

The TV show Bones is based off of Reichs' books (although they are very different). The MC is a forensic anthropologist who deals a lot with the effects of nature. The Body Farm and Bodies of Evidence look at forensic evidence, much of which has to do with nature.

Okay, it took me a few days to decide on mine... Mostly because I was torn on if I am more like Merida or Belle, but when you have red, curly hair and even kids sometimes call you "Brave", I guess it is a sign, right? Bones and I have a love for books, learning, and the truth. Anthropology was also my major, so how can she not be one of my choices? And of course, Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice, wit, books, & love for all things ridiculous. ?

Alfoster Love these choices! 3y

BooksTeasAndBookishThings @QueenOfWands @emmanoble there are just too many great fields!!! I think Bio-cultural or forensics would have been might ultimate choice, or maybe linguistics, but... I still love learning all that I can for any of them. 3y
BooksTeasAndBookishThings @Kenziejo I never watched until someone told me they are based on an actual Anthropologist, then I saw they were based on works by Kathy Reichs and I got the books and could not stop reading or watching! So sad this season will be the last, but over a decade of great shows... Can't complain 😊 3y

emmanoble I know! I especially love to read about sub-fields that aren't my own. I work in archaeology (at least for now) but am wanting to switch to something less physically demanding..working in a lab sounds amazing! 3y

After being such a huge fan of Bones for years, I decided to start reading the series and I'm so glad I did! While the story doesn't follow the exact same plot as the show, the tv series stuck to the core of the book series (Dr. Brennan being a forensic anthropologist) and that's all that matters to me. I recommend this for anyone that loves crime series and the tv show Bones! 😊
