Does someone know why I can‘t see my followers in my notifications? It is so strange because I actually do have followers but they don‘t show in notifications. Any ideas? Xx

wanderinglynn I think that notification may fall off after a while. Mine currently says “older than a week” then has “[x person] and 107 others follow your blog.” But that‘s all it says. I have to go into followers to see the complete list. 3w

I loved the book so much, I don‘t think there are enough words to explain. I finished it in two sittings and then reread it, but this time slowly, enjoying the style and mystery of the book. I was blown away by how brilliantly written this book is.

Many thanks to Readers First and Hot Key Books for providing me with ARC of this book.

The book opens with typical high-school drama. In addition, we can supplement money and rich, spoiled kids.Yeah, sounds like typical YA drama. But we are expecting dystopian Sci-Fi, aren‘t we? I enjoyed the book although it‘s not what I expected.

This is a debut novel by the author and it is absolutely stunning. It is a story about love, friendship, family, and time-traveling, of course. What are the possibilities in front of you if you go back in time with a chance to alter the future? I had everything I want from a book – I laugh, I cry, got mad and annoyed. Liked it so much!

I hate to write negative reviews.. But ‘I Owe you One‘ kind of disappointed me.
The story was so naive and stereotyped. A girl idealizes her childhood love and thinks she still loves him. Then, she meets a handsome stranger and fells in love with him. Then, they are together out of blue, then, they are not, and at the end they are back together.

The author provides us with a great spectrum of emotion – love, hate, fear, sadness and happiness. Characters are so true and alive, everybody can step in their shoes. But there is magic. You can feel it soaked into the whole book

I finished it wast night in one sitting. I haven‘t read Romance books since I was in high school, so the book brought me back to my teenage years. 😁
Liked the plot and the story author tells. But I have such a strange feeling that I have read something similar before. I felt a deja vu from the moment Ben leaves the box with his script in front of Fallon‘s door. Like I read this book before, or maybe I read a passage from it. I can‘t remember. :(

Hi, there! Hope your weekend is going well.
I have a question: as I‘m not a native English speaker, I‘m looking for improving my English and my vocabulary, in particular.
I‘m open for offers and suggestions, and I‘ll be so grateful for the help!
P.S. I am living in English-speaking country, use English in my everyday life - chatting, reading mails and etc. Also I‘m reading in English a lot. Mark new words, but still feel like I‘m not good enough.

tpixie Your English in this post is perfect! I would have never guessed English is not your first language!! 🥳🥳🥳 4mo
Captivatedbybooks Have you thought about reading kid chapter books? Like Charlottes Web? That would be good exorcise 4mo
Hope_a @tpixie Thank you so much, dear. ❤️ I have the feeling that I am using the same words all over again. Trying to keep a treasure dictionary handy, so I can check for synonyms and not repeating myself. Also I read a lot of book bloggers and they use such a word, oh my god. Some time I have to check every second word. But somehow it sounds more profound, and makes me want to go up to their level of expression. 4mo
See All 19 Comments
Hope_a @Captivatedbybooks I am thinking of reread Harry Potter series. I‘ve read the books hundreds of times but in my mother tongue. A friend told me that Rowling built up such a great vocabulary through the books that makes them so helpful when you want to improve. 4mo
tpixie @Hope_a I've heard we speak at a third grade level, and so to build your vocabulary, you need to read. Sounds like you're off to a great start!! ( Maybe enroll in a word a day in a dictionary app and write one sentence using it- even if not in your blog!). 4mo

Hope_a @dreadamara Yeah, I did but I‘m easily distracted. I failed listening audiobooks even on my language. (Shame! 😅) 4mo
melissanorr Maybe try reading and listening to the same book. I know a colleague of mine who listens to a chapter of an audiobook (or has her tablet "read" an ebook to her with the accessibility software) and then reads the same chapter in print. Hope_a @Slajaunie Yup, I‘m watching the news (especially now with this hot Brexit topic). I don‘t have a problem with understanding. I‘m working with native-speakers from different parts of the country and they all have different accents. danimgill For adding to your vocabulary you could always try flashcard type games! I used freerice.com when I was in school to study for the SAT vocabulary section, the site donates rice to a charity organization for every correct vocabulary answer you give. But I‘m sure there are tons of newer apps/games for vocab out there now 😊 Your English is awesome by the way! 4mo
BookFrog There are different accents as well as local slang. Try crossword puzzles. 4mo

Stealing some moments while studying. Yeah, I made an excuse that I‘m taking a break from lessons because my eyes hurt😅
I managed to reach page 180 in this 3 hours and a half of #24in48 I‘ll be so proud if I finish the book today and continue with ‘Next Year in Havana‘ tomorrow. Obviously I am not going to read full 24 hours but at least I‘ll have 2 books less than before in my TBR pile!

The Immortalists | Chloe Benjamin

“Life isn‘t just about defying death”, Raj says, his voice coming through the speakers on either side of the television. “It‘s also about defying yourself, about insisting on transformation. As long as you can transform, my friends, you cannot die.

#24in48 is in just 5 hours away (I‘m in Eastern European Time and here will start at 7am) I chose my books. I really hope I will be able to read them all and also read the full 24h, but.. Does reading for exams count? 😅
And because titles are in Bulgarian here are the originals form left to right:
1. Willful Child-Steven Erikson
2. The Immortalists-Chloe Benjamin
3. Next Year in Havana-Chanel Cleeton
4. Into the Water-Paula Hawkins
Happy reading!

Scarlett_ohara You are so brave to do the challenge in the official time zone. I'm just doing it in my own because there's no way I'm waking up at 6AM on a Saturday, even for reading 😊 5mo
Hope_a @Scarlett_ohara xa, thanks, but I‘ll stay late to study anyway. Probably will be craving for sleep around 10am and actually go to bed for quick nap. 5mo

I couldn‘t resist. Want so bad to show you this beautiful Bulgarian cover of ‘Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure‘

Also this book is my third book for #LitsyAtoZ reading challenge, placed under letter ‘M‘
#m #letterM @BookishMarginalia

SmartSassery I'm interested to know how you like it. 5mo
Hope_a @SmartSassery This book was forbidden for a really long time, even its author was on the edge of loosing his life and was sent to prison because of it. I was curious to read this book and to see what is this fuss about. Obviously the book has a long history of researches and a whole movement because of it. Standing alone, the plot is not something to hype about. Because nowadays we are used to books like ‘50 Shades of Gray‘ and sex scenes, 5mo
Hope_a @SmartSassery described so vividly is not something that will amuse us. But then, in the time when Cleland lived was completely different. Probably this is the one I loved the most - underline notes. They explained a lot. The story, plot, symbolism and you can understand why actually this book is written and what it meant back then. You can google it and read a lot of publications about the story and its symbolism. It‘s really interesting. 5mo
SmartSassery Thank you so much. Now I'm really looking forward to finding and reading this one! 😍 ❤️ 5mo

Pickpick

I‘ve just finished Cleland‘s book and it left me with mixed feelings. It is said to be a masterpiece and also it was forbidden in UK and US till end of XX century.
Really liked my Bulgarian editions (not only because its stunning cover) because it has really helpful notes under line which makes you understand the book in its deepest.

4/5 ⭐️

On this day, Poe was born!

https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/19-979-video

Open here I flung the shutter, when, with many a flirt and flutter,
In there stepped a stately Raven of the saintly days of yore;
Not the least obeisance made he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of lord or lady, perched above my chamber door—
Perched upon a bust of Pallas just above my chamber door—
Perched, and sat, and nothing more

BookFrog Love Poe! 5mo
Hope_a @Slajaunie Me too! 5mo
