I was really on the fence about this one. On one hand, I really loved the plot. But on the other hand, the ending felt rushed and it disturbed me that the characters were so cool with killing someone that they laughed afterwards. With a gamma cloud heading towards Earth, the rich people of New York are not panicked. When Sky finds a group of people who can travel to a future New York, after the cloud, everything kind of blows up. ⬇️

Zoe-h ⬆️I‘m not sure about what themes it was sending about the upper and lower classes. 3⭐️? 3y

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the sci-fi soo much!! This book could have been LONGER, I loved it that much. I wanted more out of this book, he could have really dived into everything 10x more and it wouldn't have been too much. The only down fall was a lot of things were left unanswered and I felt like the ending was rushed, like I said, should have been longer to really get the depth of this book. Loved it! 4/5 stars (:

This took a while to get going but ended up being an excellent and different book. Don‘t think here has been a Matthew Reilly book I haven‘t ended up enjoying a lot. With its end of the world scenario possibly not the best one to read when we are in the middle of a major pandemic 🤣 Loved the time travel aspect and how you saw what happened. Very clever! Some great suspense and tension too.

I liked it very much. One of the main reasons I decided to read it was the fact that it was a mix between Mad Max and Gossip Girl (a series I'm really into).

Some of the elements that have attracted me the most are: the character of Skye, who brings the vision of Manhattan's high society, but from a critical point of view; time travel; the vision of a post-apocalyptic New York and the reason for the end of the world, which I find very original.

Litsy tags the AUS edition of this book from 2019. I am posting the US edition which is out soon.

I love this cover. There is just something about Lady Liberty's decapitated head that screams for me to read this book. The Australian cover is also good but I don't think it grabs as much as this.

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm Calls back to the good ol‘ Planet of the Apes. 😍 Is the story anything similar? Obviously not with chimps and such...😅 4y
LibrarianRyan @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I think the difference is Planet of the apes (original I haven't seen the new ones) was in the future. In this they are living through the apocalypse according to the blurb. 4y
RamsFan1963 @LibrarianRyan Is this the same Matthew Reilly that wrote Ice Station and Area 7? If so I definitely need to add this to my TBR list. I love his books!! 4y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm The original is where it‘s at! ❤️ The new ones...😬😖😅 Interesting, I might check this out. 👍 4y
LibrarianRyan @RamsFan1963 according to Goodreads, yes. 4y

I just finished this, really good. Twins Skye and Red start at a fancy school in NY. It involves another end of the world, missing girls and time travel. All in all a good read! #books

Many thanks to Readers First and Hot Key Books for providing me with ARC of this book.

The book opens with typical high-school drama. In addition, we can supplement money and rich, spoiled kids.Yeah, sounds like typical YA drama. But we are expecting dystopian Sci-Fi, aren‘t we? I enjoyed the book although it‘s not what I expected.

This was a great concept, time travel is always something I enjoy when written well. I liked the maps and diagrams, overall I enjoyed the book however the ending felt rushed after a fast paced build up, it stopped too suddenly for me.

Thanks to #netgalley for a free e-copy in exchange for a honest review.

Hope_a I received it yesterday from readers first and so far I‘m enjoying it. 5y
