This book was such a disappointment. I loved Behind Her Eyes and this one was just predictable and ridiculous. It did keep me reading but I‘d guessed everything before it happened.

On a brighter note, this is my new baby Revan! My boyfriend found him at work living in a dumpster. He seems to be about eight weeks old and he‘s settling into his new home well. 🐱 📚

Karisa Oh! What a cute cat! 😻 1mo

General consensus among my GR friends was right—this was not great. I read it in basically a day so it held my attention, & I like an unreliable narrator. But this was reeeeally slow for the first third, then got so convoluted & bogged down w/unsubtle hints & ostensible red herrings that...weren‘t. Reveal was pretty trite & there were some corny TV cop show lines. But I loved Behind Her Eyes, so I‘m willing to try one more from her, maybe 😬2/5 ⭐️

Megabooks I was undecided about this, and you‘re making me glad I haven‘t read it yet. 1mo
alisonrose @Megabooks it‘s not terrible, and I did see some really positive reviews on GR! But it‘s just so slow and meandering and then didn‘t pay off for me. Have you read Behind Her Eyes? 1mo
Megabooks I did like Behind Her Eyes. That twist was crazy! 1mo
alisonrose @Megabooks Yeah I loved the twist! I know a lot of people haaaaaated it though, and it seems like people like one book or the other but not both 1mo

A lot of my friends on Goodreads—including people who loved and people who hated her previous book—really detested this, LOL. But I loved Behind Her Eyes so I‘m willing to give it a chance!

A great follow up to her last book! Just when I thought I had Ava and Lisa's story figured out I was so so wrong. A few things I found predictablex but I loved it otherwise. Def. recommend!

It's been a loooooooong time since a book made me cry. And for that I recommend it. If I can be emotionally compromised by an authors words then they deserve a solid review! It's a bit predictable but worth the read. There are some twists that you won't see coming that add suspense and mystery. The end will rip your heart out. 😭 #charrot

I am quite the fan of Sarah Pinborough, and while I LOVED Behind Her Eyes, I had to take a step back and acknowledge not all books can leave me with my mouth hanging open.

And this was a solid book!

Lisa is certainly an overprotective mother who just wants what is best for her daughter, Ava. But what secrets is Lisa hiding from earlier in her life?

And what if those secrets can‘t be buried in the past?

Predictable ending but great writing!

This was a pretty solid thriller told from multiple POVs, which I personally love. It had me hooked from the start and it was a quick read. I did feel like the end was a bit rushed or forced, so was slightly let down by that. But overall, a pick!

I just couldn‘t get behind this one. The subject matter of her past was too much for me, I almost put it down when they finally got to the scene of retelling what happened. The storytelling was all over the place which ultimately made for a quicker read, but I wasn‘t really a fan. However, did love the line about not waiting for a man to save the day. Marilyn was the only redeeming character in the book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5/5)

This book was twisted. The suspense and mystery was well done and when I got to the main plot of the book, I found it hard to put down. However, the book itself took awhile to get into, and it took 100 pages to get to the plot that is described on the book jacket. The ending left some loose ends and felt rushed, and I wish the epilogue could have been longer. Overall this was a solid book, but I‘m not sure I will read it again.

Loved the alternating narrators and plot twist. I have to admit that it wasn‘t who I thought it was at the end. My ending would‘ve been really bananas. Solid read for me. The twist and writing had me quickly turning pages.

I confess that I am always reading 3 or 4 books at once. And there is always a thriller in the mix. I enjoyed Sarah Pinborough‘s latest thriller much more than her first. I‘m finding that my favorite (and scariest) thrillers are those that have believable elements which is probably why Pinborough‘s first, Behind Her Eyes, was such a miss for me. This one was much more in my wheelhouse!

RadicalReader Props for reading 3-4 books at a time I love zoning out on one book and getting through each one. With three or four I would be so confused 5mo
TheLudicReader Behind Her Eyes irritated me, but I'd be willing to give her another shot. 5mo
jenniferajanes @Bklover Maybe this will help you decide on the book? 5mo
Bklover Yes, thank you! It sounds like we had the same reaction to the first book. I did a bit of eye rolling at the end of Behind Her Eyes. 5mo
Linda906 @TheLudicReader @Bklover I had the same reaction to Behind Her Eyes! I was loving it and very invested...until the end. It was just too much for me. But I know that many people loved it. That‘s why reading is so fantastic - something for everyone! 5mo

Sarah Pinsborough's last book was pretty controversial, but I loved what she did with it. This one is a little more traditional psychological suspense, but I think she's one of the only people doing interesting things in the genre. There are some great surprises in this story!

I couldn‘t put this thriller down - finished it in one day. A childhood friendship sheltering two very different characters from their realities devolves into a heinous crime. The fractured story that follows includes secrets spanning years, multiple identities, and deception. While at times a little predictable, I couldn‘t wait to see what the next page held. Solid, easy read thriller.

The subject matter made it a bit difficult to read. Also, the story line is a bit far fetched. I enjoyed the fast pacing of the story though; I was never bored. Sorry, this one did not live up to " Behind her Eyes".
