I am looking for some good Noir and or paranormal noir. Any suggestions?

So I am not big into doing these because of my anxiety. I will not be tagging anyone else because I don‘t want others to go through what I do. (Yes tagging people in things like this can cause anxiety) I am not calling anyone out I am glad people think of me as a fav litten it helps manage the anxiety
2. See tagged book— love it by the way
3. Yes so I try not to read them before I read the book
4. I love covers they can draw me in
This photo is of my co-worker/friend. When I told her this show was a book she said she has to get it and read it. We call two different stores, but I found it on the Walmart app. My hours are earlier than hers so she texted me when she got home. It was too good of a picture not to share here. She is a Litsy natural I am still trying to talk her into getting the app. Also, comment if you can find the cat 🐱.
This was so-so for me. Just as it was getting good it ended. The build up takes forever for a little tiny bang. It is like a bottle rocket. It felt like I was reading a TV show but then the writer has written for Doctor Who. There was some hype about this book but I feel it was just meh. Maybe too short? I feel let down.
I want to give a big hello and welcome to my friend and the best librarian @Shel.f so glad you are here!
Had to read this for book club. It is utter crap! Garbled rantings and fantasy of a 13 year old boy. I had high hopes but like most sci-fi from this time the heavy handed symbolism and lesson teaching was a total turn off. Why can‘t more sci go be like Star Trek you know discovering new thing, meeting new people, and adventure. Hitchhiker‘s Guide style that‘s what I want. I need to go wash the taste of this out of my mouth!
I am a member of a library book club where we alternate between Sci-go, Urban fantasy, and fantasy. So far I have hated all of the Sci-fi books they pick because they are all dystopian and all super misogynistic. I think it is because they were all written in the sci-fi peak of the 1960s. Do any of you know newer sci-fi that is not dystopian and is not misogynistic?(more)
I need some help finding an author who writes books like Anne Bishop‘s Black Jewel ones. I like dark romantic fantasy but some of the authors focus on the romance and let the plot dangle. Anyone have any suggestion? The photo is of my handsome boy Han Solo
@ElizaMarie look what I got today! Thank You so much it brightened my month! It‘s been really hard for the last 4 weeks so this was nice. I will be reading it as soon as I can. I will also start writing more since things are starting to settle down
Today I say my final goodbye to the woman who introduced me to the magic of the library. My beautiful and amazing Aunt Jane. She introduced me to many things and taught me to ride a bike. she spent countless hours with my cousins and me. Taking us on day trips and just doing things with us. My heart is breaking so much. My family doest want anything said on social media, but they don‘t read so it‘s safe to share with my Litsy family
Congratulations and thank you @RamsFan1963
I got into Litsy because I was waiting in line to meet Mercedes Lackey and I got to talking to a few Littens and they talked about how great Litsy is. It was in August of 2018. Thanks again @GondorGirl and @jpmcwisemorgan and @knittedgnome
So I am the first person at the library to read this. Thanks to the Best Librarian! She knows I am going through a rough time right now, and knew this would be a good pick me up. Bless her and keep her and her family happy and healthy.
Now nothing will get done and all other books will have to wait.
My favorite place is Kaeleer from the Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop. Why? Because of the kindred! And magic and stuff, bust mostly the Kindred.
Thank you @GondorGirl for the cool give away #GiGiBookBox
#completetheseries congratulations @Mitch on your milestone. My favorite series is actually The Black Jewels by Anne Bishop but I have read all the books at least twice. My other favorite series is The Others by Anne Bishop. Her new book comes out on March 5 it‘s called Wild Country. I love her writing style and the twist she puts on monsters.
This book started off strong, but around the 45-50% mark it slowed to a crawl. The scenes started to repeat over and over again. At first they would seem like different scenes but in the end they were the same. Unfortunately, this made me skim the last 50 pages. I think the end would have been really good if it hadn‘t taken so long to get there. I have little intreat in reading the second book.
This book is never going to end. I am not saying this because it has a lot of pages I am saying this because omg the story just won‘t end! There have been several places to end it but it just keeps going, and going, and going. This is not a good thing as it is now dragging so badly I have to force myself to keep reading. It‘s sad because the book started out strong but the repetition is starting to get to me.
I am like the hyenas in the Lion King getting all shivery and giggly as I read this book. Oooohhh 🥰
I know I am ridiculous, but I don‘t care 🤗.
So here is my best friend and the love of my life! He is a rescue dog with a dubious past. He may have stolen a star ship, and there was definitely some theft from garbage cans. This is Han Solo we call him Solo. He owns my heart and most of the bed ❤️
Valentine‘s date with this guy😱. I need a break from YA for a little bit. I read about this book in Save the Cat Writes a Novel and I can‘t stop thinking about it. BTW Save the Cat Writes a Novel is a wonderful book. Let‘s see if this can keep my attention. Also, don‘t you all just love my car‘s seat cover! 😜
Congratulations @Crazeedi 🎉 ! I love Litsy. The first book I remember reading is Sideways Stories from Wayside School. I got to share it with my now teenage stepson. He loved it as much as I did when I was a kid. Thanks for this giveaway it gave me a fun trip down memory lane. #20kgiveaway
This book is pretty good. I wish there was something less than pick but more than so so. The pacing of this book is a little off as I found it to be very interesting then it would start to drag. At times it felt like two different stories shoved together. But it was a pleasant and easy read. If you‘re looking to be entertained this is a good book for that.
Yay my #JustABookSwap arrived! I giggled when I opened it and saw the tagged book. So excited @madamereadsalot1 you picked great! Thank you so much. Is your user name the same on good reads? Just asking so@I could send a friends request. Can‘t wait to start this one, sadly I will prolly have to wait until the weekend. At least I can say my weekend is booked 😝
@TheBookKeepers thank you for hosting.
Yay book mail! Thank you @ElizaMarie I have not read this book but I can‘t wait to! Also, the note pads and book are so cute. I really needed this pick-me up! You rock 🤗
Nope, I should have just passed. The best part of this book was between pages 50-150 everything else was just Alice in Wonderland. Btw I hate Alice in wonderland so this was not a good book for me. There was way too much going on. There were hints of clockwork, dark fairy tales, getting stuck in fairy world. Too much! Also, the description were way over the top and there was too much of it! Please leave some to the imagination.
Well I was enjoying this book. Key word here is “was”. This book started off really slow and then got good and just when I was think yay it‘s going to get better it got super slow and boring. Note to all authors out there please do not take a paragraph to describe things and do not spend pages and pages using flowery descriptive words it really takes away from reading. I am sure there are books omg there where RBI‘s is good but not this one.
Update: I am now lost in this book. It got really good really fast. Who else has read this book or is reading it?
Also, I love the quote. . it reminds be of a song I hear on my favorite radio station which plays music for the 60s thru 90s.
So, I have the flu, even though I got my shot. *sigh* Yep, that‘s the kind of luck I have. But all is not lost because I have a bag of library books 📚 yay! So I am going to start this one. Hope it‘s good.
YES!!! This was awesome. It is Jane Eyre in space and it is great. I loved it. I think it is a pretty accurate retelling. It is missing things but what it adds in the third act makes up for anything left out. Some things have been changed to give it a freshness that Jane Eyre really needed. I very much recommend this book. Good job to Alexa Donne for creating a work that is beautiful and engaging.
#HelpMeFindNewBooksGiveaway @Amabear thank you for the giveaway. I don‘t have much space to tell you why Fahrenheit 451 is my favorite dystopian novel so I might have to go into the comments. To me most dystopian books have settings that are completely unbelievable. They seem so far-fetched to me that I can‘t imagine a future like that. However, Fahrenheit 451 felt almost like we are living in it today. I couldn‘t put it down. Continue in comments
I got this book for free on kindle a long time ago, but I didn‘t like it. I don‘t understand the hype. Maybe the movie is better, but I won‘t be watching it. I am glad others enjoyed it though 😊
Ok I wanted to wait and talk about this book when I was done with it, but I couldn‘t wait! I love it 🥰! The chapter I am on ended with the best line, but I can‘t share it because it would be a spoiler. I love Alexa Donne she has a YouTube channel I watch all the time. I love her writing and her fashion. Thanks Alexa Donne for taking Jane Eyre to space!
Thanks for the giveaway @LazyDays ! I love Litsy and I have been here almost a year now. #LitsyLove19
I love reading because I can live another life or 10. I get to learn new and interesting things. I learned how to put my hair in a bun because of Tuck Everlasting the book not the movie!
Yay! Congratulations @SamanthaMarie 🍾 and what a cool give away.#samanthamariegets3333
My favorite number is 7 because you can write it with a little flag in it. It seems dumb but I like when you can make letters and numbers fancy without knowing calligraphy!
Thanks for the giveaway!
@ElizaMarie I am@getting ready to send out some Holiday pen pal packages. Would you mind emailing me at marilyncjackson@gmail I must have accidentally deleted your email and I wanted to check something before I mailed yours.
