Forget the love triangle! Caleana + Nehemia = #KindredSpirits
A low pick. Finished last night, for the #kindredspirits discussion today. I'm glad to have read this - and reread The Story Girl - but I didn't love them. While some of the exploits were enjoyable, the charm and balance found in other Montgomery books was missing. I was annoyed by both Felicity and TSG and liked an the other kids better. Hated all the Cecily Will Die Young foreshadowing. But that scene with the Governor's wife was classic 🤣
I loved this reread. My adult mind picked up on plot elements ten year old me glossed over. I found myself loving Marilla in this novel. She became more of a person to me. Her sense of humor is dry and wry- which always makes me laugh. I love how Montgomery really developed her as a character in this novel vs. the first one.
The seasonal themes were lovely to read as well. A favorite series.

Kathleen Kelly‘s mom advised to read this with a box of Kleenex. Which I never understood until my reread of this as an adult. I cried. I cried quite a bit actually. Part nostalgia and part realizing Anne‘s predicament as a neglected orphan, escaping along with Anne in her imaginations. And then falling in love with Montgomery‘s gorgeous writing all over again. It‘s definitely one of my #bestof2021 📚

Have we really come to the last book of our #kindredspirits readalong? What a joy it's been to revisit some and experience others for the first time. Not sure I want to give up a regular fix of LMM, so thinking I might reread some others after this. I remember loving Emily and Jane just as much as (if not more) than Anne ...
Things I enjoyed about this GN: the depiction and aging of Anne (and the art in general), that it showed more of the story than it told in words, that the authors did a great job of staying true to Anne‘s evolution from girl to woman.
However, I wish that they had made each novel into a separate graphic novel rather than jamming them all into one.
I still cried when Matthew died. I always cry then. 😭

Audiobook!! So fun! A classic IMHO, Anne embodies a rare and genuine spirit-like visiting a wise and affectionate old friend💕

Short on pages but plenty to dissect ( literally) If bodily fluids and medical procedures make you squeamish be prepared. A doctor & his young assistant are faced with a moral dilemma in this fever like dream. #NetGalley
