You may have noticed that I'm a little behind on my reviews (even though I've kept my usual pace for reading). . . . 🙄

October 2022 reading recap: 10 of 22 books read rated high enough to make the recommended list. https://debbybrauer.org/#october-2022-recap

The Beauty: Poems | Jane Hirshfield

Why Religion, Gut wrenching, yet sublime memoir, was written by Elaine Pagels, best know for her research & writing on the Gnostic Gospels. The Beauty is a collection of poetry which I loved. #October #November #12booksofChristmas

SamAnne I‘m spiritual, not religious, and don‘t consider myself a Christian. I absolutely love Elaine Pagels and her books on the gnostic gospels and this memoir. 1mo
kspenmoll @SamAnne I feel them same. Discovering her all those years ago was like another fascinating unknown world opened up for me. I wonder if she is writing now? 1mo

I read 15 books in #October with 2 5⭐️ in the bunch.

I loved this Christie-esque, closed-door, dysfunctional family murder mystery. So good.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Yes! I loved this one too - each sibling having their own POV chapter really ramped up the tension, I kept waiting for a betrayal. 1mo
Andrew65 Looks a great choice, interesting cover! 1mo
robinb @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Exactly! The siblings were each so well developed. 1mo

#October #12Booksof2012

Tough competition between books from 3 of my favourite series in October for number 1 position but the tagged book just wins it, from a new favourite series. This is book 1 in the DCI Jack Logan Series and I strongly recommend the book and series.

Runners up :
Hidden Scars by Angela Marsons
The Gallery of the Dead by Chris Carter

#12Booksof2022 #October

I was super excited for a new book by Kate Atkinson and I was not disappointed by this sprawling tale of the London underworld in the 1920s.

Andrew65 Always good to read her books. 1mo
Ruthiella I definitely need to get to this in 2023! 1mo

Of course, I would have to pick a Stephen King book as one of my top 2022 books. I just love this author (as he is my favorite :) ) Anyway, this was a bit “different“ from his normal horror-type books, but I really enjoyed this story. it is my #October 2022 pick :)

#ChildrensClassicRead2022 #October

I‘m a little late in posting, but as I continue with our November read, I found a couple King Arthur related books on my bookshelf! King Arthur for Boys I found at a used bookstore in town, and the Book of Merlyn is a book I read as a child/tween. It was to be part of The Once and Future King, but was not in the final printing. ( I also read TOAFK as a child, but cannot find my copy.)

TheBookHippie Oh how fun!!! I admit I looked up others as well as took many movies out of the library !! @UwannaPublishme did movies as well I believe!! I just love it! 3mo
tpixie @TheBookHippie I need to watch some movies! 3mo
UwannaPublishme Yes! It‘s been a King Arthur movie month for me. I‘ve watched 3 so far: with Clive Owen and Kiera Knightly (so-so), with Robert Taylor and Ava Gardner 🙌🏻 and Excalibur with Helen Mirreen, Liam Neeson and Patrick Stewart—my favorite! Let me know if you have more to recommend! 😁❤️🎬 3mo

#October #20in4 #Readathon Check-In: 6 hours.

A BIT short of 20 hours, right? 😁
Well, for me, the #20in4 #readathons are a nudge to me to make more time for reading as on any usual workday - on a 'normal' day? 30 mins daily, if I'm lucky... 🙄
So, 6 hours aren't THAT bad, if you think about it... 😉
