rockpools @Johanna414 It‘s called BorrowBox- might be a UK thing. It‘s got a much better selection of current popular titles, but the more I use it, the more I like Overdrive/Libby! 4y

rockpools It gets worse @julesG ! I‘d already tried ‘turn it off and turn it on again‘ & no reservations, so I thought I‘d return it and re-download. Oh, no, no, no! Returned it fine, but can‘t re-download it for 10 days, because that was how long I was supposed to keep it for. This is why the holds queues are so long - if someone returns sthg early, it doesn‘t shift things along - everyone still has to wait. I may be writing a ‘helpful feedback‘ email! 4y

Well my Litsy account was acting up and then wouldn‘t open at all! I tried logging out and back in. Finally had to uninstall and reinstall! Very frustrating but glad to be back on. It‘s still running a little slow but better than nothing 😅
I don‘t do other social media so I needed my Litsy fix!

I know some of you are using the #kindlitsy masterlist to gift even though you may not read on Kindle, so I wanted to make sure I posted for anyone perusing it. It will be updated as needed.

After a lengthy chat with Amazon, our wonderful Julie confirmed that gifting to or from a country other than your own apparently doesn‘t work. I‘ll be updating to include each person‘s Amazon store so gifters know in advance.

julesG That's a giant load of... You can buy those books here, too. Gifting kindle books isn't an option at all in Germany. You can give someone a gift certificate but not a specific book. 5y

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I even tried logging in to amazon.ca so I could through them, send something to our loan Canada participant, and no luck that way either. All the ebooks come up not available for me to even pick, let alone gift. Sorry @dariazeoli I thought I had found a work around, but nope. 🙁 5y

So I was chatting with a teen acquaintance tonight, and the subject of books they had read for the school year came up. When asked about a certain book, the response by the teen was, "I am not looking forward to that. It's just so basic, you know?"

The book? The Diary of Anne Frank. ????????

Elisa I hate that words like basic, snowflake and MarySue are used so often nowadays. It‘s such an obnoxious put down — I don‘t like providing the trend to look down on people any more ammunition or vocabulary than it already has! I have to admit that hearing someone say that, especially about Anne Frank, would probably make me think a little less of them. (edited) 6y

dariazeoli That is sad. Anne Frank was one of my heroes when I was that age. I had to defend that statement against a classmate who scoffed at the idea. I‘d still defend that statement today. 6y

LikelyLibrarian I was in Amsterdam last summer and mentioned to a few people that this is one of the books all American kids read. The shocking part? None of them had read it 😱 6y

No reading yesterday due to errands, grandbaby, and friends over for dinner/game night. Today has grandbaby in the morning while daddy works and taking daughter back to college in the afternoon. Maybe a couple chapters this evening? 🙏 Dont get me wrong, all of those things are wonderful! I just struggle a little when I don't get time to read and be quiet.

readingjedi Me too! My reading time is essential to my mental and emotional well-being and it is very hard sometimes to find that time with a very lively 3 year old daughter! 6y

AmyG I read one short chapter yesterday as we have friends visiting. All I can think of is when will I get a reading break. So....I feel your pain. 6y

BookNAround I pulled out all of my bookmarks (and I have an appalling number total plus an appalling number of duplicates which I‘m contemplating giving away) to see if I had an extra for you since I knew I had at least one Alice. So, I‘ve had bad abdominal pain for about five or six days now. Guess whose doctor has her coming in to see the vampires? Yep. Doc is worried I might have pancreatitis. Fingers crossed that I don‘t. If I do though... I guess I‘ll have plenty of undisturbed reading time in the hospital.

So I've managed to delete my #litsyatoz email/google doc from my email and can't find it anywhere. Any techy people can help me out? It was on my yahoo email and I've checked all folders and searched. The email was dated 6/30/17 and even on my desktop my deleted mail only goes back a week. Help! I only had 5 more to go😫😲

I have had to count to 10 waaaaaay too many times today. No one wants to listen or cooperate. My mom is taking my son to TN tomorrow for 10 days. So I'm anxious about that and he is so excited he's been bouncing off the walls and wanting to leave now and I know he is excited but enough is enough. And the hubby just isn't helping! So that's my rant for today. I think I'll take my night time medicine and read and ignore everyone else now.
