This was completely terrible. #38 #2019 Has anyone else read this?

jmtrivera I haven't read this, but I usually like Ephron's writing, so that's disappointing! 5d

I really loved this. For the the first quarter of the book I thought I was going to hate it because it was told from the perspective of child and then a preteen. Please give this book a chance, this is a complex family and emotional coming of age story. This needs a much higher rating on litsy. #36 #2019

smolgaysnowbazshipper I second that. 1mo
kricheal @Sweettartlaura @smolgaysnowbazshipper So far nothing that I haven't seen in the news yet but the book has been out awhile so maybe at one point it was the news? Trump is just nuts. I wonder who is the author's source? So far it seems to be(without saying so) Steve Bannon- but why? I still can't believe this guy is in charge of the country. 1mo

Do yourself a favor and do not read this horrible toxic garbage- especially if you have anxiety, PTSD, grief and/or any sort of associated triggers. Disclaimer: I didn't know anything going into this book or know anything about the author. I thought it was it was going to be funny. 🤦‍♀️ The author unfortunately takes himself seriously, I'm curious to see if or how much he's respected in this field. #throwitacrosstheroom

Gezemice Haha, I tried listening to it and bailed after 15 minutes. The author was so full of himself, and sounded like an angry person who couldn‘t care less. Sorry, not someone to get life advice from. 2mo
Megabooks Yikes! Sounds terrible!!! 2mo
kricheal @Gezemice He totally invalidates people's pain. A Man was grieving for a child that he lost. The Man asked for advice from the author about his grief, the author basically(paraphrasing) said he made the choice to have grief.-- wth like that would be something he just turn off. The author wrote the book for his own ego, not to actually help anyone. 2mo

I was on a roll this year...and I've hit my first official slump. I'm just dragging through EVERYTHING I'm currently read right now and it's killing me! I know this seems a tad dramatic but I need some pointers, motivation anything to get me going again!

Jsara5761 I hear you! It‘s been hard for me to get through my slump. But I‘ve found reading a novella or two in my favorite genre gave me the quick win I needed to get rolling again. 😊 (Of hat makes any sense. Lol) 2mo

The story itself was very compelling and would've been a pick for me, however the narration was very distracting to me. There were quite a few mispronounced words that irked me throughout the entire read, for example Reich was pronounced reish(definitely the shh be quiet noise not "ch" throaty noise we associate with Reich). Genghis Khan was pronounced was a soft g instead of a hard g which I've never heard before. #24 #2019

kricheal In my opinion the material is solid but read the book don't listen to the audio. 4mo
KathyWheeler One of our museums hosted a Genghis Khan exhibit that included video — all of the people on those videos pronounced Genghis with a soft g. I‘d never heard that before either, but apparently it‘s a thing. 4mo
kricheal @KathyWheeler Now I'm wondering if I've been saying it wrong my entire life 😂😂 4mo
KathyWheeler @kricheal According to one of those videos, there are several ways to say it. I‘m probably remembering this wrong, but the Chinese, according to the video, say it Gingus with a soft g and and i sound. 4mo

Starting this next on #overdrive #currentlylistening I can't stand O'Reilly BUT I do really like his Killing series. 😬😬

readinginthedark Are they good then? I've been hesitant to read them, 'cause I assumed they'd be pretty biased. 4mo
kricheal @readinginthedark Well I've only read three of them so far and I don't think they're biased.. at least not in the way you'd expect from him. If there are slight leanings here and there I don't even pick up on them.. they seem to be pretty straight forward, however I'm attributing that to the co-author aka real author. I honestly think he's only involved in name only to drive sales.. that's how unlike Bill O'Reilly it IS. 4mo
kricheal @readinginthedark Killing Lincoln is the best one followed closely by Kennedy. 4mo

I only read this because my youngest has been dying for me to watch the musical with him. I'm hoping some singing makes me like this more but after reading this I have no idea why they thought "Hey let's add some song and dance to this depressing train wreck!" #jazzhands I'm pretty sure that's how their musical concept meeting went. #23 #2019

megnews I have tickets to see this in June. Part of a subscription series. I wasn‘t too thrilled about storyline but I‘ve heard some good things. 4mo
kricheal @megnews I've heard great things too, but after reading it I'm not sure why. If you see it before I do, let me know! 4mo
ravenlee I think the play came first, and this is a novelization. Which might make the concept more weird rather than less. 4mo

I may need to get the above book. I started a business Twitter at the beginning of February and I still feel so lost. I can do the basics on there but that's it! My feed looks nonsensical to me. It just looks like a jumble of incoherent thoughts! I don't know how to follow the conversation if that makes sense. Just needed to vent!
