Cussy Mary is a pack horse librarian in the hills of Kentucky during the depression. She also has a rare condition that makes her skin blue and as a result is treated as a “colored” person. Her story and those of her patrons and how much the books meant to them was very moving. I didn‘t know anything about the blue ppl of KY or the pack horse librarian program and both were fascinating. This story brought me to tears. #liveandlearn #booked2020

After finishing (and loving) The Giver of Stars, and seeing so many people comparing that book to this one, I knew I had to pick up a copy!

Day three with awful laryngitis. Miss Harvey is my reading buddy tonight.

Soubhiville I hope it didn‘t come with a sore throat, and that you feel better soon! 3d

Interesting book. I enjoyed the setting, and the characters but found the slow pace somewhat exasperating.

Quiet snowy weekend means lots of audio. Just started this one because I've been neglecting Historical Fiction lately

Middle aged list making duty bound Martha attends to everyone elses needs but her own. After family secrets are brought to light she is encouraged to believe in herself again. Is it too late for her to experience happiness and fun in her life or is her duty in life to always put ithers first. Sweet and lite. Just what i needed. Nothing too earth shattering here but it kept moving forward for me.

Crazeedi This was a good read, I totally enjoyed 6d

I loved this sweet and surprising novel recommended to me by @Amandajoy for @monalyisha's #newyearwhodis

The characters felt fully realized for such a short book and I loved the descriptions of late 80s/early 90s Alaskan childhood. I grew up in roughly the same era in a neighboring Alaskan community so some of the points really resonated: work on the slope, walking up to exit glacier and fashion/trends taking 5 years to reach Alaska (if ever 😂)

Amandajoy So glad you enjoyed it! I thought it was such a simple, lovely little book! 1w
