One of my kinders made this adorable Cat in the Hat drawing for me today ❤️❤️❤️
So I can only add a picture that I take as I am posting. Can‘t post any pics from my phone.
Anyway here is a Cat one of my kids drew for Dr. Seuss week. #teachersoflitsy
Remember the part in The Grinch movie where Max takes his paw and knocks off his red nose? You know, Jim Carey says, "BRILLIANT!!! You reject your own nose...". Anywho, that's almost exactly what happened about .2 seconds after this picture was taken. #milohatesprops #andpictures #andcats #andhats #andheadbands #andbluehair #andbows #andcurrentlyhismomma ??
#literaryluck #lessonsfromseuss Persistence! His children‘s books have been a part of our lives for generations, but I am still amazed when looking through vintage magazines and his recognizable style delights my eyes with his advertising work.He was already known as Dr.Suess when he did this one , but early ones are unsigned as he was just hired as a general illustrator.
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
While The Cat in the Hat does indeed take a solid ten minutes to read (which could be a long time to ask a young child to sit), it is full of fun rhymes and silly illustrations!
For Seuss Day yesterday, my class made their own hats to wear and also created handprint Thing One and Thing Twos.
This is a book that should be in any child‘s library.
For Day 2 (Lessons from Dr. Seuss) of #LiteraryLuck month: The Cat in the Hat is a much better book when read aloud if you give each character their own voice. My kids loved it when I read this book to them. I also could read this one without the risk of injury (there was the time my daughter was doing the motions as I read them in Horns to Toes and accidentally poked me in the eye. My eye hurt for more than 24 hours after that... so much pain!).
#LiteraryLuck Day 2: Here are real #LessonsFromDrSeuss subjected to rigorous research and academic treatise and found to be guilty of racial transgressions, ostensibly. Here is the full link to the actual research article: https://sophia.stkate.edu/rdyl/vol1/iss2/4/ I haven‘t read it myself, but will most definitely include this in my list of reading materials for my course on multicultural children‘s literature and social and emotional learning.
My #lessonsfromDrSeuss is to like cats but don't trust a strange one that shows up at your house. My cats don't wear hats so they're good.
(I honestly don't love Dr. Seuss except for The Grinch. I don't remember reading these books as a kid but I do remember having to read them to kids when I babysat and they weren't my favorite.) #literaryluck
Day 2 - #lessonsfromdrsuess
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?”
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
I meant what I said and I said what I meant.
My daughter volunteered to go to the elementary school today to read to a kindergarten class for Read Across American/Dr. Seuss Day. She's very excited and ready with her headband and even a little gift for the host teacher. Hopefully she gets assigned to her cousin's class.

What are some of your favorite cats and cat related books? They can be adult or YA or children‘s.
#lae3414sp19 The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss is a fiction children‘s book that is wildly popular. This fun-loving book is about two kids doing chores and getting interrupted by a cat in a hat who gets them in to many sticky situations. This book helps to teach kids basic rhyming words while still keeping them entertained. The UDL I would use for this book would be 3.2, highlight patters, critical features, big ideas, and relationships.
The famous book, The Cat In The Hat, by Dr. Seuss is a book that almost every child has read. This F book for all ages and it takes you through Sally and her brother's rainy day adventure. The Cat In The Hat has surprises for the kids, even some special guests! They all make a huge mess and they see their mother coming home. The Cat In The Hat comes in with a cleaning surprise and tidies everything up before she gets inside. #lae3414sp19
1. The Cat in the Hat—my dad would beg me to choose something else because he got so tired of it
2. Playing with my sister @lizziellamacorn
3. Doing the dishes—we didn‘t have a dishwasher
4. I had so many, but probably stuffed animals especially Beanie Babies
5. I still love Dr. Seuss
Day 13 of the 30 Days of Gratitude photo challenge: art. My daughters' creations are my favorite art. They do some really amazing things at school! I have a whole gallery of it in my basement. 😁 (Wish I could share multiple images in one post like IG!) This one was made by my now 10 yr old when she was in 2nd grade. #gratitude30
1. Up 🎈
2. I have the ability...somewhat. I lack the desire. #LazyDriver
3. The Cat in the Hat
4. No plans. BF is going hunting, kids will be out so I'm alone and playing it by ear 👍
#31BookPics Day 8: One of my #OldFavorite which I featured when we had a Throwback reading theme. From a psychoanalytic perspective, the cat is the raging id, while the Fish of course is the Superego that reins everything in with its moral injunctions, reminding the children that the cat should not be in their home in the first place. Now that I am an adult, I enjoyed the young children‘s sense of agency here. My Review https://wp.me/pDlzr-9c9
1) My favorite childhood story and later movie with Dakota Fanning and Mike Myers is still The Cat in the Hat 2) I‘ve never seen Monsters Inc, so Shrek 3) oooppss it‘s already Saturday morning, sorry 4) mustard or peppers of any kind 5) @batsy @Graciouswarriorprincess @Copwithabook Thanks @Kaye for the tag! ❤️ @jesshowbooks #friyayintro
My son discovered the big wide world of Dr. Seuss. In a moment of parenting weakness I promised a fish like the one in The Cat in the Hat in exchange for good behavior. Today, my son cashed in that promise. Meet Po Po. Not sure what I got myself into. I‘m taking bets on how long I can keep this thing alive. Any fish advice, please pass my way. Kids should be supervised around these stretch bookmarks. #thecatinthehat #drseuss
This P book is a classic. I have always loved reading Dr. Seuss books! I plan to use Dr. Seuss in my classroom as much as possible, as there as so many resources out there. I would love to do a DR with this book, as I feel like it would be easily adapted to a staged version. This book would work best with primary grades. #ucflae3414sp18
My coworker was telling me that her polling station had Cat in the Hat-themed I Voted stickers for Dr. Seuss Day. I thought they sounded so cute and was jealous. Well today she brought me one! Wasn‘t that so sweet? I had early voted, but I wore it all day to promote voting to the patrons. Promoting literacy and the democratic process—my two passions—all in one go!
These are the books that say Dr. Seuss to me. My mother thought they were silly and frivolous so was never allowed to read his books as a child. A shame, but she did give me my love of reading - just not these books! #MagicalMarch #DrSeuss
I survived my first Dr. Seuss/Read Across America Day as an elementary school librarian! We had community and parent volunteers coming into the library to read to the kids all day long. It was a whole lot of fun, but I was sure exhausted by the time 3:15 rolled around.
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! The kiddo drew this in school. I'm cracking up at 'barthday'! We have more Seuss books, but they're those ones that aren't by Seuss?
