This book was so good! I liked it better than “Little Women”!
“We all knew what she meant. Heavens, the bird in the covered cage probably knew what she meant.”
“Books have the power to transport us, to allow us to escape to another time and place, just by reading some words on a page or screen. That‘s the closest thing to magic I know.” - Laura Morelli
Does anyone else continue to read something they otherwise wouldn‘t just because it has that wonderful “old book smell”? Tell me I‘m not the only one! 😂
I don‘t generally like contemporary books and certainly not travelogues but, man, can this Nathaniel Philbrick tell a story!
Raising a puppy? Yep, this pretty much sums up puppy life! 😜
I cannot read this book. First chapter and "free" children being taking off the streets of New York to be sold into slavery. I'm in tears at the helplessness and cruelty of it all. Great writing but I'm just unable to go on with it.
Can you tell when a book is bail-worthy after 10 pages? I'm thinking with this one, I can. 🤔
