Another one from the TBR shelf … looks to be a sure gem!

Tkimsal Love this novel! 23h
kbibliophilific @Tkimsal I‘m loving it too! At times a little slower than I‘d like, but really well written ! 23h
Tkimsal @kbibliophilific It‘s a lot about atmosphere and setting. The movie was similar. Hope you enjoy! 23h

This looks like it‘s going to be fabulous. Any feedback from anyone who read is greatly appreciated!

Vansa I just finished John Berendt's book set in Venice and could not love it more, and it's supposed to be his lesser work!! I'm sure this book will be spectacular 2mo
kbibliophilific @Vansa ohhhhh tell me more about what you read…. Never heard of it !!! 2mo
Vansa Called The City of Falling Angels,Berendt writes about Venice from a very..non tourist perspective, and he writes of aspects that interest him,so there's a lot about daily life, quirky locals, the impact of tourism, conservation efforts and the tremendous politicking that happens around that,a fire that destroyed the main opera house and the convolutions around it's rebuilding. He doesn't mean for it to be a history book, but an atmospheric book,(1/n) 2mo
Vansa (2/n)and somehow it really, really works.I hadn't heard of it either!Stumbled across it in a used bookstore I frequent and it sounded really interesting, absolutely loved it!Inspired by your post I'm going to read Midnight in the garden now😀 2mo
kbibliophilific @Vansa and inspired by yours, I will read that one!!! Thank you!!! 2mo

What a beautiful (gloomy) reading day!

Happy Wednesday and happy reading! ☺️

tokorowilliamwallace Currently going through this as well, though it's not a regular genre for me to read. So far, I like parts of it (such as the author's excerpts of his story), but other parts have been triggering, such as the author's behavior of 'testing' our female protagonist... 9mo
kbibliophilific @tokorowilliamwallace I really like it so far but I‘m only 50 pages in so far…. 9mo
tokorowilliamwallace @kbibliophilific I'm 200-something in. I hope it doesn't affect you like it did me. I almost DNF'd it. It's been happening a lot with recent books, 4 I've started since November or December. I guess my sensibilities are more sensitive now. 🤷 9mo
kbibliophilific @tokorowilliamwallace nope it won‘t affect my thoughts … always keep open mind with books - so many I‘ve seen polar opposite reviews and I ended up feeling one way or the other. I love Sandra Brown though so I‘m pretty sure I‘ll like it (edited) 9mo

**Feedback** this book was a nice light read, but set in the UK so process, procedure & titles are very different than in US. The stories/experience was nice to read, but not very comparable to that of a US death care worker.

Early morning read at work during downtime 🤷🏻‍♀️
