ITS MY BIRTHDAY | Liesbet Slegers
post image

It's my birthday, so I'm following the #Litsytradition of #payitforward and doing a giveaway! (Int'l ok) I'll send goodies from boxes, a tote bag and any or all of the books - winner's choice.

Just reply below before 12 am 11/1 (my time) and tell me which dead author you'd want to bring back to life so they could write one last book. Y'know, I like kinda creepy Halloween stuff. 😜

Repost and tag me so more people have a shot! #trickortreatbday

CouronneDhiver That tote is BEAUTIFUL! 🖤 Where did you get it? Also, happy birthday!!!!! 🎁 7y
Wife Happy Birthday! 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹 7y
TheKidUpstairs First of all - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! May it be filled with happiness, good books, and yummy treats 😁 And to answer your question, I'd be interested to read a modern Dickens novel. His novels were such a reflection of his views on the era, I'd like to see what he has to say about the modern world. 7y

IamIamIam Have a great birthday!!!! 7y
athorne Happy birthday! It‘s a tie between Edgar Allan Poe and H. P. Lovecraft for me. I‘d love to see what modern day horrors they‘d come up with! 7y
Cinfhen And I‘d like to bring back Sylvia Plath...she left this world too early😞 7y
bookloo @Cinfhen Great choice. 💜 7y
BookishTrish Happy Birthday! 🎉🍷📚 I LOVE your question. It'll keep me going for days. I'd bring back Virginia Woolf because I'd like to see how the Internet and social media would spark her creativity. It'd be extra amazing if she and Ali Smith co-wrote something together. 7y
Melissa_J Happy Birthday 🎂🎈🎉🎁🎊 7y
Kalalalatja Happy birthday Barbara! Hope you have a great day filled with cake and love 🎂❤️ I would love to bring back Jane Austen. With such a great, last book as Persuasion, I would love to see what Jane would be able to do with more time 👌 7y
InBooksILive Happy birthday! I gotta choose Edgar Allan Poe. I‘d love to see how his work would‘ve changed and gotten even better over the years. 7y
Bookzombie Happy Birthday!!! Hope you have a wonderful day. 🎉🎂🎁🦄🎈 I would like to bring back Ariana Franklin (Diana Norman). Her Mistress of the Art of Death series is so good and I would like more. 7y
batsy Happy birthday! 🎉🎈🎂 Have a wonderful day! This is a great question and @Cinfhen and @bookloo came up with good ones. I'll go with Anne Brontë since I just read one of her books this year and it was fiercely feminist. I'm curious about what more she could have written 📚📚 7y
Aninski Happy birthday!!! And thanks for the amazing giveaway 😁 I‘d bring back Douglas Adams, I can‘t get enough of his work ❤️ 7y
emilyhaldi How fun!! I hope you have an amazing birthday 🎉🎉🎉 If I could bring back one author it would have to be John Kennedy Toole bc this is one of my favorite books and I would have loved to have more from him!! 🙌🏻 7y
bookloo @batsy I haven‘t touched Anne yet! What book of hers resonated with you that way? 😮 7y
batsy @bookloo The Tenant of Wildfell Hall! I loved it 😊 7y

Balibee146 Happy Birthday @BarbaraTheBibliophage ... I'd bring back Iain (M) Banks for either one last Culture novel or one of his family sagas.... Sure he could do good spooky with either. Please can he live on to a Ripe old age afterwards so he can keep enjoying his whiskey and conversation... He seemed such a nice man and he died way too young 😥😥 7y
KVanRead Happy Birthday!! What a great idea! 7y
Simona Happy birthday and enjoy in your day 😘 7y
KVanRead I know you‘re thinking I‘ll say Dickens but I‘ve got to go with Kurt Vonnegut Jr. I feel we really need him right now or even better him reincarnated in a non white male form, lol! 7y
kyraleseberg Happy Birthday!!! 🎉 7y
Andrew65 Happy Birthday 🎂🍰🎊🎉🥂🍾 7y
NovelGirl82 Happy birthday!!! I'm a huge Poe fanatic, so I'd love one more epic poem or story from him!! 7y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Happy Birthday!!!🎂 7y
StacksNShelves Happy Birthday! 🤗 7y
ValerieAndBooks Happy birthday dear Barbara 🎂📚🍰!! I‘d like to bring back Oscar Wilde— for his witty and sharp observations, and for him to see that things have improved for LGBT people (although not 100% better, still more so than in his time). 7y
rockpools 🎉🎂Happy Birthday! Have a wonderful day!📚🎉 7y
Emiller Happy birthday!! 🎉🎂🎈🎁🎊📚 7y
scripturient Happy birthday, Barbara!!! And what an awesome question! It was a tough choice but I would say Terry Pratchett. Funnily enough I‘m not a huge fan of his books myself but I know so many readers who miss him dearly and it would be lovely to actually see him trick Death (also a character in his books) and come back. 😁 7y
DGRachel Happy Birthday! 🎉🎉🎁🎂(Not entering, just sending felicitations) 😊 (edited) 7y
Reviewsbylola Happy birthday!! 🎉🎉🎉 STIEG LARSSON for sure!!! 7y
BookKenz Happy Birthday! 🎉🎊🎉🎊 I hope it's wonderful and filled with lots of reading! I've always loved Poe, so I would have to choose to bring him back. 7y

Christinak Happy Birthday! I would love to read more Ray Bradbury! 7y
Graciouswarriorprincess Happy Birthday!! 7y
Natasha.C.Barnes This is a very good question...id probably bring back Elizabeth Bowen because she was so good at critiquing and capturing what was generally "going on" during various periods of time over the course of her life that I feel like she would write some dynamite book about the state of the world right now, but from a very character-driven place. ❤️❤️❤️ 7y
Rachbb3 Happy birthday!! I hope your day is wonderful. 🎂 7y
Grim_Reader Happy birthday 🍰 7y
LeahBergen Happy Birthday, Barbara - "end of October" birthdays are the best!! ? I'd like to see what Emily Bronte would have produced after Wuthering Heights (and maybe she could finish that rumoured second novel that she had on the go!). Enjoy your day! ?? 7y

merelybookish Happy Birthday! Thanks for sharing the love us!!! Great question! 7y
MayJasper Happy Birthday Barbara ☺ 7y
MayJasper My choice would be Sir Terry Pratchett 7y
OrangeMooseReads That‘s a tough choice. I would want both Kurt Vonnegut especially with the situation our country/world is in now. 7y
Leniverse Happy Birthday! I'd like to bring back Jane Austen so she could finish Sandition and see all the spinoffs P&P have created! Although the shock of modern lifestyles and how popular her books are might just put her right back in her grave. Wait, no, Shakespeare! Not so he could write more but just so he could lay to rest those silly rumours that all his work was really written by Bacon. 🙄 7y
Blueberry Happy birthday♡ 7y
bitterbear Happy birthday!!! 7y
bitterbear I would bring Octavia Butler back... To finish this series. 7y
MicheleinPhilly Happy Birthday, my beautiful friend! I‘m so glad you were born. ☺️😘 7y

slategreyskies I think I‘m fourth in line to say Sylvia Plath. If she had lived today, maybe she would have been able to get the help she needed to keep living and to not feel so desperately alone. 7y

Lreads Happy Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful day! 7y

TricksyTails Happy Birthday!! ♥️🤗☺️🎉🎂 I hope you have a special day with your loved ones with lots of love, laughter, and books! I'd bring Terry Pratchett back. I had a hard time choosing between him and Tolkien. Pratchett makes me laugh a bit more and that's what I need right now. Happiest of birthdays! 7y
coffeenebula Oooh. Octavia E. Butler or Kurt Vonnegut. Happy Birthday, Barbara! 💕 7y
quietlycuriouskate Happy birthday @BarbaraTheBibliophage 🎂 I wanted to choose Virginia Woolf but should respect her decision not to be here 😢 so I'll pick Percy Bysshe Shelley instead. 7y

RebelReader Vita Sackville West 7y
Bibliogeekery Happy Birthday!! 🎉🎉🎉 I would definitely want Octavia Butler brought back for more books! 7y
Chrys So many to choose from. One that you hear less of though would be Jim Harrison. I love his poems and essays, though most are familiar more with his novella Legends of the Fall 7y
BookishTrish Can I change my answer? I had a dream I was following Oscar Wilde on Twitter and he was hilarious 😂 7y
shadowspeak17 Happy birthday! 😃 The first person I thought of was JRR Tolkien, so I‘m going to go with him. 😂👍🏽 7y
andytbarnes I‘ll go Kurt Vonnegut. Hope your birthday was great and full of 📖 . 7y
JPeterson Happy birthday! It's a tough call between Poe and Vonnegut, but we will go with Poe since he is in season. 🖤 7y
