Married for Christmas | Noelle Adams
post image

This book isn't in the Litsy database, but I would have given it a pick. I really enjoyed this cozy, little Christmas read. It was great how our characters maintained their own independence and personal growth while growing their connection together. We got to see our FMC POV in most chapters, but our MMC shared his POV through journal entries. This romance is an age gap romance, a bit of grumpy/sunshine, and forced proximity.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my first time reading a book from Catherine Ryan Hyde. It was a good, but heavy read. I definitely teared up a couple of time, but I feel as though I left the book with hopeful feelings. I plan to read more from this author whenever I am ready for Catherine Ryan Hyde to tug on my heartstrings again.

I really enjoyed Ashley Elston's adult thriller Frist Lie Wins, so I decided to pick up one of her other books. However, this one didn't work for me. I found it really predictable and kind of boring.

However, I think young readers would really enjoy it.

I love everything about this series. The covers, the horror, the light humor sprinkled throughout. As much as Alex Easton deserves be done with strange and scary events, I selflessly hope that they find themselves in more peculiar situations. This installment is a little less scary horror than the other books. It seemed more sci-fi with some scary moments sprinkled in.

The blurb by Ashley Audrain, who wrote The Push, is what really got me to pick this book up. While it did have a creepy kid, physchological thriller feel, it wasn't quite the same. I felt the pacing was a bit slow, and I just never was quite as invested as I wanted to be. Overall, I had an okay time, but I don't think this will be a story I continue to think about.

I do love this cover, though. 😍

DNF - 41%

I really enjoyed the first book, but this one is so very boring. I am 40% in, and nothing is happening. New insta-love romances keep popping up, and I just want to make progress in the storyline. I'm so sad to DNF, but I saw other reviews saying nothing happened until the final 10%, and people were still bored and DNFing 70% in.

Last Light | Claire Kent

Pickpick

This book isn't in the Litsy database yet, but it is set in the same world as the tagged book.

Since Last Light, this series has grown so much and I love it. In this series, romances happen in a post-apocalyptic world where people are trying to survive years after a meteor hit and changed life as we know it. Tower is the first in a new spin-off of this series where the romances are based on fairy tales.

I enjoyed the survivor, dating reality TV show aspect of this book. I almost gave up on this one around the 30-40% mark, but I'm glad I continued on. The FMC, Orie, read really immature for someone who was 23. However, I was happy with her character arc. I'm definitely going to be on the lookout for more books with a reality TV setting.

Thanks to #Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

shortsarahrose If you haven‘t read The Charm Offensive, put it on your list - gay, grumpy/sunshine romance with a “Bachelor” type show setting. I‘m not a huge romance reader, but I was “charmed” by it! 2mo
BookKenz @shortsarahrose Thanks for the rec! That one looks fun! I've heard of it before, but never realized it had a reality TV show setting. Added to TBR! 2mo

I've always enjoyed watching TMNT and reading some of the comics, so I snatched this comic off of netgalley. Some of the stories were interesting, but most of them were too short to be memorable. I did enjoy seeing all of the different art styles, but only using the color green did make it difficult at times to tell the turtles apart easily.

This is the 4th book in the Frankie Elkin series, and I've really enjoyed every single one of them. I ended up giving this one 4 stars. Frankie Elkin is a little lost herself, but she spends her time finding missing people. This time she is looking for a missing Afghan refugee. Lisa Gardner clearly did a lot of research for this book. I love the humor and relationships built in this series. I was so happy to get an ARC of this through #Netgalley

I found this comic scrolling through Kindle Unlimited. Based on the cute cover and a quick skim of the description, I immediately downloaded it to read. I wasn't sure how to rate this because the art is fantastic. I really enjoyed the style. I also think the idea behind the comic is great, a witch taking on freelance work. However, I ended up not liking the episodic cartoon strip style, which made it pretty forgettable for me.

My #MidYearRecap Part 2

Longest - The Dark Forest at 512, Death's End is about to beat it very soon.

Prettiest - I'm just obsessed with the cover art on the Rebel Blue Ranch books.

Made You Cry - Love and Other Words. How this character handled the grief of losing both parents, both at a different time at a young age, was eerily similar to my experiences.

Sequel - Teddy and Gus 🥰😍

Laugh - Dungeon Crawler Carl was so much fun. 😂

Favorite - Slewfoot, but it was a close tie between it and Love and Other Words. ❤️

Worst - Stone Heart. I feel like this book needed to be longer. Everything happened so fast. Very insta-love. Katee Robert might not be for me.

Biggest Surprise - Venom & Lace. A coworker recommended this me. I didn't think I was going to like it, but I had such a fun time.

My most shelved and least shelved books for the year. At this point, I've read Hunger Games so much I could quote most of it because I've taught it in a middle school reading class for years. For the 24-25 school year, I've moved to teach math, and I'm going to miss watching students fall in love with the story.
