Audio read by the author, felt like a novel w/ slam poetry moments. Jack is a struggling musician in NYC 1993, searching for his stolen bass along with his vocalist who stole it. 90s punk scene along w/ the many characters of the EV. There is murder, romance, humor, and the music scene. It‘s an okay book & understand why there are mixed feelings. For the most part it kept my attention.

Premise of a unique retelling is actually a full blown erotica. The cringe, the cringeeee!! Idk how many times I rolled my eyes at “Darling/my lady”. The insta love. Not an accurate depiction of Persephone, personality wise & w/ her maternal relationship. The extra chapters were funny though. She turned Minthe into a mint plant 😂 If you go into this knowing it‘s erotica, it‘s okay.

Wish I read this before Paris Apartment!! Constant game of cat & mouse with the reader on who the victim & culprit are. Multiple POV, creepy atmosphere, characters have depth without over/underwhelming. Fun murder mystery on an island with recognizable characters completely trapped. Really enjoyed this one especially on audio.

Brings me to 2 bingos! Will post my final bingo board in a few.

HOH was fantastic! Dark fantasy fairy tale set in modern London & magical Scottish forest. Gore, horror, secrets, family, fashion, nature. It gave me everything I needed and adore.

E&B it‘s been a long time coming! I enjoyed the story & mystery behind what occurs in the first Ch. It didn‘t need to be 800+ pages. ⬇️

#20 Court of Wings & Ruin Finished!

Besides this being a chunkster, it felt necessary compared to the previous. Last two pages were superrrr corny but they deserve it after everything. Not cool Sarah, you know what you did! Scaring me like that. The battle was emotional, wholesome seeing who aids & powerful. Everything was interwoven so well. Rollercoaster of a ride.

Amren has found a way to wipe Hybern & his army. Humans are winnowed for their own safety. Ianthes fate is finally sealed. Mor reveals a long held secret to Feyre. Elain gets captured by Hybern & a rescue mission ensues. Feyre finds herself in a tough situation & is saved by someone a bit unexpected as per recent events. It‘s coming to the end & idk how to feel 🥺.

#6 Audio - Tales of Beedle the Bard

Finished last night and relistened to The Fountain of Fair Fortune this morning. One of the last books with the Wizarding Worlds I have left to read. Charming fables, I could do w/o Dumbledores explanations but at least it‘s Jude Law.

More mystery w/ paranormal elements compared to horror. This is DARK with lots of triggers (addiction/sexual assault/racism). I did love the insertion of The Shining and visiting the Stanley. Wasn‘t a fan of Debbie storyline think its juxtaposing the big reveal. Interesting read, it felt like a lot was going on but I was going through the trenches to finish.

Hybern attacks Summer Court only the Night Court helps. All high lords come to the meeting even Tamlin who only insults Feyre.🙄 Antitode to counter Faebane is made but heavily questioned. Pieces of what is going on with Elain start to get put together. Some BIG things happen, the battle will begin. More in comments.

Feyre visits the Bone Carver to negotiate, wants the Mirror of Ouroboros in exchange. Mostly about gathering allies from each court for the upcoming war. I‘m in the middle section where a lot of what happens atm will be used/discussed during the major climax if the trend continues from the past two books. Elains state is about the same & Nesta‘s training has begun.

I really enjoyed the combination of horror elements, physics and a love story all wrapped in one. Jason‘s Doppelgänger forcefully trades worlds, he must fight through the multiverses and multiple Jason‘s to get back to his family: the glue keeping him together. The descriptions, writing style and constant questions kept pulling me in deeper. Intense and thought provoking, worth the hype.

Probably one of my least favorites from the entire series which is why it took me ages to finish. Harry & Hermione are SUPER moody. Tensions are high and don‘t get me started on Umbridge. Still a good book in a fantastic series. It‘s the in between for me of transition. Can‘t wait (eventually) for Half Blood which is my second favorite 😍

Out of the six books I read, In My Dreams I Hold a Knife was probably my favorite. Flew through it, couldn't put it down. Wasn't out of this world but a fantastic read. Overall a good month. Hopefully will keep the momentum into December.

Fall of the House of Usher is my favorite short story. Was a bit weary, to my complete surprise I absolutely loved it. It gave me almost the same build up and gothic house vibe Poe did the first time reading. From atmosphere to writing style, everything checked my interests/preferences. Highly recommended & under 200 pages.

Dark Gothic atmosphere, a female MC who‘s a bit more headstrong from the start than usual. It‘s a quick read & the last 1/4 of this really got my horror fever going! Very detail oriented on the house itself. The only thing that felt off was that things happened too quickly. It seemed to jump forward at other times. Besides that I really enjoyed it.

Nothing surprised me. Unreliable narrator, overhyped murder mystery. Might even put this more under the cozy category. I think there are some good themes in here but that‘s about it for me. Luckily event wise it was fast moving.

I enjoyed the pace of this but something just kept taking me away. Idk if I wasn‘t a fan of her consciousness. Enemy to lovers -> witch/witch hunter romance. The magic is always a nice touch and I liked the characters but not one stood above the rest. Decent read, maybe I‘ll pick up book 2 to see if it progresses better.

Mysterious, dark academia, character development intertwined with the layers of the murder night being peeled away page by page. Multiple perspectives & time lines. Not big on romance but found myself begging for this one. Especially since it didn't take over the story. Wasn't too shocking at the reveal but didn't take away from my enjoyment. 14 people hiding in an abandoned & decrepit amusement park for prize money. 2 by 2 they are killed. This had so much promise!!! Presented to me as an adult horror and its WAY more YA especially with the insta-love. The individual stories didn't develop but constantly picked at. At no point did I feel tension or fear. The supernatural element didn't shock me. If anything this has me reconsidering Joyland.
