The Buffalo Hunter Hunter | Stephen Graham Jones

Pickpick

Every year I add the newest Stephen Graham Jones novel to my TBR; every year I fail to read any of his work. This year I'm quite vexed with myself for failing, because the brilliance of his work is exactly what I didn't know I needed.

This was not an easy book to listen to. Jones's characters come alive on the pages in a horrifically real way, that makes you care and hate them with equal measure.

Enchanted_Bibliophile The great thing is, knowing I now have a lot of books that I know will challenge my mind and give me great reading pleasure.

I‘m extremely late for my 2025 year books reviews but this is something I‘m doing to keep a track of what I read this year. Yeap, this is for March 2025😳I really must add to my reading goals/challenges for next year to post my book reviews at the end of each month😂
March 2025 Book#1
I enjoyed this story, the mystery was interesting but with many convenient coincidences🙄😂Always reminding myself that I‘m reading the series as an adult 3.5 ⭐️ ⬇️

Librarybelle Baby steps are good! 1mo
Ruthiella The coincidences in the Nancy Drew books are ridiculous! 😂 1mo

I attempted to read this before, but I just couldn't bring myself to care about the characters.

This time, I decided to get the audiobook, which made it a little easier to listen to and complete the story. However, I'm not a fan.
The narrative felt redundant since we already knew Snow was an evil tyrant. The details of how it happened didn't interest me, and I believe that contributes to my dislike.
The story wasn't bad, it just wasn't needed.

Megabooks Glad you're joining us for the discussion, though! 4mo
Leniverse I'm half way now and I'm not sure if I agree that the flaws of the characters aren't a focus. She's making some extremely questionable decisions in practically every chapter 🤪 And her husband is definitely flawed. 4mo
jenniferw88 @Leniverse yeah - I should probably change that, but I never know how to answer that question! 🤣 4mo

Michelle is such an inspiration!

Hopefull, informative and inspiring.

Not only did she offer a look at the Lady behind Michelle Obama, sharing her hopes, dreams and fears.
But she also encourages and inspire to do more, be more.

What an interesting, engaging story.
I enjoyed the amateur sleuthing and unraveling the mystery.
I do however feel that some relationships were a bit awkward; as in the switch from dislike, distrust and loath to "You're the only one" just didn't quite work.

Delightful, cozy and sweet.
Friendships, fist-loves, and conquering evil in the most unexpected ways.
Baldree has stolen my heart through Viv and here friends, I can't wait for the next book.

3½✨
There's a lot of conflicting reviews about this one. But I quite enjoyed it.
Even with the slow start and Grady being a sulky, self-absorbed man-child.
The suspense and mystery of the Isle of Amberley kept me intrigued. It felt like a character on its own, with the residents being its moving parts.
And the twists.
I did not see it coming... at all.

This was very interesting, but it will make you angry at some of the ways victims and their families have been treated by the UK justice system. It's very up-to-date as well. For example, Wayne Couzens is mentioned. Next post will be triggers, as there are quite a few.

Would work for #52bookclub25 #redheadedcharacter as well, but I ⬇️

jenniferw88 want my character to have a more active role in the story, so I'm not using it for this prompt. 10mo
julesG The book is non-fiction. Why would you use a non-fiction for the red-head prompt? 10mo
jenniferw88 @julesG There's 2 real-life people mentioned in it with red hair! It's a very weak stretch, but if you were worried about the prompt, then you could possibly count it. (I'm hoping to use Demon Copperhead for that one though) 10mo

julesG I'm not worried. I completed the prompt already (with 3 backup books). 10mo
