Today's card is the Hierophant, which focuses on tradition, ceremony, and conformity. I chose Gideon the Ninth, because of the way Harrow is so held captive by the traditions of Ninth House and how Gideon is...well, not. 😁 Their back and forth in this story was so mesmerizing! ❤📖❤

PS - who else is REALLY EXCITED for the third book to come out this fall?! 😍

Well, I couldn‘t stop reading, and now I‘m 30 pages from the end and I *have* to stop and make food or my body will punish me. Also, the cats and dog are hungry.

I haven‘t been this engaged with a book in a long time, which is nice, but damn!

Taking some time this afternoon to read Gideon while I try to avoid another headache. Things are starting to speed up, and I‘m at the point where I‘m hitting a bunch of rapidfire reveals (and internally yelling). I have some guesses about who is responsible for the murders, but still not sure how it will shake out. I‘m hoping for a satisfying resolution regardless.
Meanwhile, Dottie wishes I would stop being boring and take her for a walk.

This book is a lot of fun. I wasn‘t sure that I‘d dig the whole necromancy thing, but I did in the end. Ready for the next one.

Looking forward to making some progress in this chunker after quite a stressful week. The pace is picking up, and it‘s doing a great job of busting my reading slump!

Getting back into Litsy after a very extended leave because of pandemic stuff. Been having a hard time finishing books, but I‘m really enjoying Gideon. I waited a long time because I was worried it would be too scary/gory for me, but it is not too intense at all! It‘s a fun YA with a sassy narrator, a little slow at first but really enjoying the ride.

Also pictured is the pandemic pup we adopted this summer, Dottie. She is a spaz and we love her.

Finally finished this one. I found it a little tough to wrap my head around at first but I'm eager to read the next in the trilogy now. Solid 4⭐️.

Crocodile on the Sandbank was a pleasant discovery for #Foodandlit22 but the end blew it big time. Overall a good listen 3⭐️.

Library hold on Death on the Nile is about to lapse so I'm hustling on that one.
Tempests and Slaughter I may DNF audiobook because I'm just not that into it, even at 63%.

4/5⭐ This book mixes a whole bunch of genres really well. I loved the atmosphere, and the biting dialogue and humor were exquisite. #bookspinbingo

Feeling a bit behind watching everyone post about having completed theirs already. 😭😭

Coming late to this series; so much fun! Socially crippled necromancer and a swordswoman who‘s great at zingers and 2-handed sword fighting but equally inept in emotional expression, what‘s not to like? Followed immediately by Harrow the Ninth so feeling very pumped at the moment!

There‘s nothing wrong with this book. Written beautifully and there‘s so much going on. I think I would enjoy it more as a physical book rather than an audiobook tho.

What a wonderful start to this series. I fully intend to read all of these book, I am so fascinated by the whole world of necromancers. What a great fun read. It lost my attention at times. But overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. #WinterGames TBRRead 15pts (?)

So much gothic-ish fun! & I‘ve learned 2 things. 1, I love squished together genres. This is, in parts, fantasy, sci-fi, and locked room murder mystery. 2, I am not a fan of enemies to lovers. At least, not over the course of a week. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Started this book this morning, and I have a feeling it will be one of those books that I'll always wish I could.forget it and reread it as if I never read it before. #WinterGames

I combo listened (narration by Moira Quirk=fantastic)/ read the ebook. I honestly didn‘t understand what was going on until at least 60% and I‘m still not sure I get all of it, but I loved it! It has aspects of both, but I would categorize it as Fantasy over Sci-Fi. Gideon, a thrall bound to the Ninth House, gets her chance to escape when she becomes the Cavalier to her house‘s Necromancer. It‘s bonkers, funny, touching and incredibly creative.

Sadly bailing on this one. It is funny and interesting world building. However, there is just too much going on/too many characters and some dialog that is problematic for me.

Giving this another go as it devastated my partner and I found myself less annoyed with the blatant enemy to lovers energy the second time. Maybe not being at college with 20 year olds who don‘t realize it‘s a trope helped. 🙃

I really enjoyed this book but it is a bit of a confusing mess. I'm not sure if I will read the rest of the series because despite enjoying it I don't care about any of the characters or the plot

I've been sucked in but I have to admit it's a bit of a slog and very confusing

Just finished a work trip, over which I was very surprised I finished only this one book! I thought I‘d have lots of me-time, but no.
What a quirky, action-packed, genre-bending book! The MC is FUNNY and crass and I loved her. Plus, it‘s (semi?-)queer space necromancers with manyof bones, gore, and 1x1 battles.
Yes, that last pitch is for the #roaringwolf Sep sci-fi challenge 😉

I‘m reading this for the second time, and I still don‘t feel like I understand everything that‘s happening in it.

#LittensDressedInBlood day 3: You want to talk about twists? This book and its sequel are full of the most mind-boggling twists I could barely keep up. (In fact, I don‘t think I did keep up with Harrow the Ninth!) If you haven‘t read this yet, this haunted house story in space with extremely lesbian necromancers (seriously, Gideon is the gayest fictional character I‘ve ever read) is a great choice for your fall TBR. Can‘t wait for Nona the Ninth!

STORYTIME: I just finished this book. It took me a very long time to get into the book but in the end I think it was worth it. I will be reading the rest of the books. I love the skulls and flowers combo!

Sapphic necromancers in space? I said SIGN ME UP and I am beyond thrilled that I read this book. So many twists and turns that I never saw coming! A really great queer sci-fi/fantasy! 🖤

Did some more #audiogardening this afternoon and stuck some succulents in the flowerbed I finally finished digging up. I'm in full summer project mode, and really don't want to go in for our last week of school! I can't wait to see how this looks in a month or so as the plants fill in and grow!!
