I‘m at a medical appointment with my Mom. I came prepared: two books, one kindle & Chai tea. I‘m in the waiting room...reading should be taking place right now, BUT there is too much noise. Not loud noise. Not weird noise. Just a regular disturbance of serenity. I know that the inability to read is all in me. There are other readers in the room who look absolutely happy & content...then there is me, who cannot read unless there is ONLY silence.😔

AlaMich I‘m the same way. The ambient noise distracts me and I can‘t focus. It can depend on what I‘m reading too. It‘s harder with fiction that I want to immerse myself in. Non-fiction works better with noise for me. 5mo
Megabooks There‘s always HGTV playing in the waiting rooms around here, and I can never read with it on. I‘m sorry. 5mo
Melissa_J I wearing hearing aids and get sensory overload very easily in environments where there is too much noise, even if it‘s not all that loud. I can‘t read when that happens. My one advantage (really the only benefit when hard of hearing) is that I can turn my hearing aids off or take them out and the world immediately becomes much quieter 🤫 (edited) 5mo
staci.reads Same. I'm highly distractable, and to get in my reading zone, I need quiet. 5mo

Pickpick

To anyone who is interested or Quaker curious, this is a good introduction to it. This is one of the oldest sects of Christianity in North America.

JamieArc This is the second post about Quakers I‘ve seen in a week! I love it! (I‘m a Quaker). 5mo
quirkyreader @JamieArc well hello fellow Quaker. I know you are in The Lansing area. Do you attend Red Cedar Friends? 5mo

Whelp, this is just lovely. Easy to understand and breaks down a concept that even adults struggle with - sometimes you just have to sit with sadness. Embrace it, let it know it is heard, and don‘t try to hide it. The personification of sadness in the illustrations is very effective.

Hello! Yes you there! I'd love to know what you think about Serial Reader: what could be better, what could be changed, what could be added? Appreciate any thoughts and ideas! 💙 - Michael

jewright I love it, but I do find the highlighting tools hard to use. I would like to see more poetry and Shakespeare. 5mo
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I LOVE Serial Reader as is. Asked my husband, as he is also a fan, and he said he‘d like the option to choose shorter daily installments. Thanks for all you do - we both really enjoy it. 5mo
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I was going to say longer daily installments! But I guess that just means we want to be able to pick our estimated installment time frame. 5mo

Daisey I really like it as is, but I would like to be able to search my read books and notes/highlights rather than just scrolling though a long list. 5mo
DivineDiana Also a fan of “as is”! Love the encouraging markers to continue reading! 👏🏻 5mo
Soubhiville I like it as is, but don‘t use it a ton as I don‘t like reading on my phone. 5mo
SaturnDoo I like it as is and enjoy it. I don't think I would want longer daily installments,as I can already continue on to the next installment. Thank you for all you do. It has really helped me get some classics read that I probably wouldn't have otherwise 😊 5mo
Kristy_K As is! Would enjoy more poetry though. Like Yeats, Donne, Byron, etc. 5mo
sudi I like it as it is, but one thing i would like is including more classics from different countries. Also to be able to choose the time on how long each installment should be. Other than that it's great and i've read many classics because of it. 5mo
batsy I love it as is, too, and thanks for that ❤️ But @Daisey 's suggestion would be pretty useful 🙂 5mo

Some notes & highlights improvements (better organization & search) arrived earlier this year in iOS and I'm working on bringing the same to Android. I'll be sure to bring the same sort of organization & search to the books section.

This month's book club read. While this subject matter is not my cup of tea, my hat goes off to Jodi Picoult. She is always able to write about difficult subject matters in a thoughtful, logical, and balanced way.

It should be noted that the audiobook narrator is excellent with this title.

#listening to the #audiobook of Archenemies on
#Libby. I'm just not liking this series as much as The Lunar Chronicles, but I'm interested enough in the author to read book two. It's so-so so far.

Johanna414 I‘m reading Renegades right now and feeling the same way 6mo
annahenke @Johanna414 it's a shame! 6mo
ShelfAddiction I agree. I loved the Lunar Chronicles so much, unfortunately this series isn't resonating with me. I finished Renegades last year, and have bothered picking up Arch Enemies. 6mo
