How I'm spending my time before bed!
OK, I‘m a big scaredy-cat. I don‘t usually read horror. But I have been curious about Stephen King. So I decided to try this 1,000-page thriller and wow. This confirms King‘s rep as a master storyteller (who likes to throw in lots of blood and severed limbs). Reading Under the Dome was like trapping a group of humans in a jar and watching how quickly they turn on each other. A horrifyingly fascinating study of human nature—good and very, very bad.
Finally finished my re-read (relisten?) of this behemoth!
I've been picking at it for a couple of months but went on a 4 hour long walk yesterday to try and push to the end. I really do like this book, but I might have read it a few too many times. I think I'll give it a year before I even think of starting this again, haha

Day 11 & 12 of #adventrecommends
I‘m playing catch-up, but I have a good reason - yesterday I wrote the last exam of my undergraduate degree in Psychology! My convocation is in February 🎉
Technically Under the Dome is one book, but I have the edition that split it in two - so I‘m counting it as two books 🤗 This was my first Stephen King chunkster and it remains one of my favourites.
Challenging @AJTimberlake to a reading challenge. I‘m reading Under the Dome by Stephen King. She is reading Way of King‘s by Brandon Sanderson. But I‘m gonna win 😘
No joke, when this challenge started, I paired this book and card in my head. It‘s not rigged I promise, I‘m not drawing the cards, @ErinSueG is!
But what better to fit the trapped theme of the #hangedman card! #tarottakeover #horror #halloween #photochallenge #stephenking #constantreader
I‘m currently listening to this book on audio.... it clocks in at a whopping 34 hours 😱
I‘ve read the book before but it was quite some time ago. This particular book actually wins the contest for the least portable Stephen King book I own considering it‘s a 1000+ page hardcover!
Another book from the Bf @trioxin_sematary that came in my package😘 i did not own this book so im so excited he passed down the copy he read! I love it ,its FLOPPY😍 and the cover is so vibrant and raw. I do believe this is post-apocalyptic, i dont know much about it and thats ok i like going in blind!
Set in a small Maine town, it tells a multi-character and PoV story of how the town's inhabitants cope with the calamity of being suddenly cut off from the outside world by an impenetrable, invisible barrier that drops out of the sky, transforming the community into a domed city.
I loved this book, I've read 40+ King books and it'll always be in my Top-5. It's also one of his longest so have patience, it pays off!
Finished this one up in the wee hours of the morning. Not King‘s best but it was still classic SK and I loved it. When asked what it was about, I said “things go awry in small-town Maine.” 😆 Epic, tons of unique characters, fascinating story and look at human-nature, scary is the sense of what people can do to each other, some spooky stuff. It also got me out of a reading slump as I fell into this story so effortlessly and couldn‘t put it down.
I‘ve been a little scare here for the past week because I can‘t stop reading. Finally! Yahoo! 🎉
Went to the use bookstore and came away with this haul. Then promptly started in on Under the Dome, and can‘t put it down. Staying up too late, skipping tv, etc. Stephen King really just writes the perfect page turners. I will remember this next time I have a slump.
✨I don't think I've ever seen such a difference in a book adaption than the TV series for this. 🙈 It was so different, even though I watched the show I had noooo idea what would happen next. Typical King with his big community and characters. 1000 some pages, but I read it surprisingly fast. I definitely enjoyed the books ending to the show! Makes much better sense. 😉✨
✨I don't normally read 1000+ page books, but when I do it's usually Stephen King and 90% of the time, I have no idea what's going on. 😂
✨Thanks for the warnings that this was nothing like the show besides the fact they both have Domes. Holy moly, the difference! 🙈
✨My boyfriend and I went to the only used/new bookstore near us (it's still an hour away 😂) just to see if they had any hardcover Star Wars books for him. We struck out hard on that one, so instead I got these. 😆🤗
✨I've watched the TV series based on Under the Dome and was super stoked when I found the book. Shades of Earth I'm pretty sure if the last of a series I don't even have the first one of, but you gotta start somewhere right?! 📚
J is for Big Jim Rennie, who I loved to hate in Under the Dome. Throw in Junior Rennie as well!
