Her mother hasn t set foot outside their front door in seventeen years, since she escaped from her kidnappers with nothing but her attacker s baby growing inside her Kelsey. Kelsey knows she s supposed to keep a low profile and stay off the grid for their protection, but that plan is shattered when her dramatic car accident and rescue by volunteer firefighter and classmate Ryan Baker sparks media coverage. A few days later, she arrives home to find her mother missing. Now, to have a chance at a future, Kelsey will have to face her darkest fears. Because someone is coming for her. And the truth about the past may end up being the most dangerous thing of all. Intense stand-alone psychological thriller. Kelsey‘s mother hasn‘t left their house in 17 years, when she escaped her kidnappers, pregnant with Kelsey. Sometimes the safest lies are the most dangerous...

This was interesting. I like the way that they wove in stories about abductions that many people have heard of. The mystery was good and satisfying. It‘s a pick for me even though I think it was a little too perfect in some ways.

I‘m trying to figure out whether this book is officially out of the #whodunitbymail rotation. Was it returned to @Jess7 or is it still in the wild?

If you haven‘t responded to the message @dariazeoli there‘s still time! She‘s put a lot of effort into trying to get us back on track. If you‘re out, that‘s okay. Just let us know. I‘ve enjoyed exploring #mysteries that I might not read otherwise, and I miss it.

Alfoster @dariazeoli I‘m still in! I haven‘t gotten any books for awhile but I‘m very patient!😍 10mo
Mdargusch I have not seen it. Thanks for working so hard to figure this out @Susanita @dariazeoli 10mo
NovelGirl82 I‘m still in! It should have updated with the books that I have. My phone was acting weird the day that I did my update, though, so if it didn‘t @dariazeoli just let me know and I‘ll email you with the details. 10mo

Anovelobsession I haven‘t seen that book yet. Spreadsheet still good for me - I have Black Orchid right now. @dariazeoli @Susanita (edited) 10mo
That-Bookish-Hiker I‘m still in too. I updated the sheet with the books I have. @dariazeoli holding onto them until we get everything figured out. 😊 10mo
Emiller I‘m out and wondering where my book ended up. It was supposed to be sent back to me. @dariazeoli 10mo
Bklover I‘m still in- just haven‘t gotten a book in a while. 10mo

Read4life @kspenmoll In the email thread @dariazeoli sent out and asks for our current books (if any), we were asked not to send any books until she can get a new rotation set up. 10mo

Karen I am still in. I don‘t have any books. It‘s been a couple of months since I have had any. 10mo
Susanita @Emiller It looks like maybe @TheWordJar had it last? Since she‘s left the group too, maybe she didn‘t know to send it to you. 10mo
dariazeoli @kspenmoll Please hold them. Which books? I don‘t see them in the spreadsheet. 10mo
dariazeoli To all: I‘m emailing people individually to send books home for our inactive or dropped-out members. Spreadsheet is being updated as these emails go out. (edited) 10mo

Kangaj1 @dariazeoli got it! 10mo
Jess7 When I exited WHODUNITBYMAIL in December 2017 I told Tiffany she could keep the book and journal in rotation or keep herself since I was exiting. I‘ve seen posts since she read it so I believe it stayed in rotation. No one has returned it to me. (edited) 10mo
Susanita So it sounds like this book is still rattling around somewhere out there after all. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 10mo
TheWordJar @dariazeoli @Susanita @Emiller Just wanted to jump in! Looking at a copy of the last spreadsheet I had, I think the last two books I had were Rumor of Bones and Let Us Prey. I sent those two along to @Read4life when I withdrew from the group. I don‘t have any other books, and my book still has not made it home (not worried...it‘ll get here when it gets here!). 10mo
Emiller @TheWordJar Thank you! It will appear at some point I‘m sure. 10mo
Susanita @TheWordJar I had your book in September and sent it to @AndreaReads but I don‘t know what happened after that. 10mo
Read4life @TheWordJar I received both of those and sent Rumor of Bones to @Marmie7 . I‘ve been holding on to Let Us Prey until we decided how we are going to proceed. Looks like I‘ll be sending it back to it‘s owner this week. 10mo
AndreaReads I am so sorry, friends—I did not mean to completely disappear! @TheWordJar I have your book, I wanted to finish reading it—I will send it back to you ASAP! Thank you to everyone else who tried to get everything put back together, I really enjoyed our (albeit short) time together! 9mo

Another W O W!

This book started off rather slowly compared to her other books so I got nervous it wouldn‘t be as thrilling. Boy, was I wrong! Once it picked up it escalated quickly. (Continued in comments since I wrote too much...)

MishAnn I mean yes, hanging in a car upside down over nothingness while your crush saves you is terrifying, but then more terrifying things happen. You sneak out to see your crush get his hero award. You get home and realize everything at the house is wrong. Now your crush is trapped in the house with you and then add in two more friends while you‘re trapped, getting shot at, trying to escape... 13mo
MishAnn Then you think everything is ok minus your mom missing but then you‘re trapped in that house again with your mom and three bad guys. I thought the bad would never end. 13mo
MishAnn I loved Ryan and Kelsey‘s relationship though. Hearing him say he liked her all through their summer job. When they were in his room expressing what they were actually thinking. Even when she found out he ran her off the road (accidentally but still). I just liked the way their relationship bloomed. They already went through so many hard things that everything else should be like cake!

You need to read this book!

This is one of the best thrillers I've read in a while. We see Kelsey go through many emotions throughout the book. Its described in a way that I had to put my book down to catch my breath as each lie is uncovered. My jaw dropped with the plot twist. I'd definitely recommend this book, especially since I couldn't stop reading once I started. It has a little bit of everything, a budding romance, suspense, betrayal, and such a good plot twist.

Overall a good, very quick read. This is a psychological thriller told by a 17 year old girl. I did not know at first that this is a YA standalone book until I finished it. It wasn't the best book out there but it kept me engaged and wanting to know the true story. First read by this author, who has also written adult fiction books I want to check out. I really enjoyed this one.

This book hooked me from the first page and I didn't want to put it down. Kelsey's Mom was kidnapped 17 years ago and escaped. When Kelsey's Mom escaped she was pregnant with her. 17 years later Kelsey Mom doesn't leave the house at all. When she comes home one night and her mom isn't there she knows something is wrong. Where did her mom go? Did the people that took her 17 years ago come back to get her? This is my first book in the #sixby6/6!

Book received by @stacybmartin #HalloweenGoesPostal. This is a about Kelsey, 17, raised in a world of fears, limited social contact with survivor knowledge due to her mother traumatized past experience. There are some unrealistic, discrepancies areas:Kelsey social skills, some characters relations & predictable situations. It has an open ending. But I really enjoyed the reading I felt some anxiety as expected in psychological thrillers 👍🤗3⭐️

It feels like Christmas morning!! LOVING MY #LETSHYGGESWAP package. I got The Safest Lies, The Passenger and The Break Down. A tote bag in my fav color 😻 bookish socks. A mug (really nice!) a candle in one of my fav scents Hawaiian Breeze and some stationary. Now to choose which of the books i got to take with me on my trip to Texas decision decisions THANK YOU JESS!

Jess7 I vote: The Passenger - it's was a "couldn't put down" book for me when I read it from the library this summer. I also really liked The Breakdown, but I haven't read The Safest Lies yet. 2y

All of the books were on my TBR (they're even hard cover) and omg that wine glass! I can't say thank you enough! 2y

Betty Makes me curious: if her mother never left home in 17 years, how did she get diapers, food and clothes? 2y
Coleen @Betty I know, right? She supposedly did all that stuff over the internet. It's much more convenient to start the story from a later point in time so that the details from that earlier time can be glossed over. 😉 2y

Good suspense but not all the dots connected at the end. Liked the question about whether fear could be inherited but it wasn't explored as much as I hoped.
