5 out of 5! It‘s a dark and twisted story told from three narrators in three timelines. The darkness builds and characters become mad, power hungry, broken and you question what‘s real and what‘s true. Who is evil? Who is the victim? Who will hold the power in the end? What is the biggest tragedy? A great plot that is intricate and twisted until the very end. It‘s dark and heavy and i was emotionally spent when it ended which left me satisfied.

Lisa Jewell is my new favorite author. This is the third book for her‘s that I‘ve read and they just keep getting better. I can not wait until bookclub to talk about this twisty thriller/mystery. I enjoyed unfolding this story and the devilish characters. Loved it and I hope everyone else did too!

My current listen 🎧 - I‘m always in the mood for a suspenseful thriller this time of year, and so far, ‘The Family Upstairs‘ by Lisa Jewell does not disappoint! It‘s one of those books that hook from the very first, (dare I mention a disturbing and chilling letter in the first few pages), multiple POV‘s and excellent voice talent for the three narratives. I‘m hooked!

Freespirit I shall look out for this one to listen to😍 1w
catebutler @Freespirit It‘s great as an audiobook! I‘ve been enjoying it while I cook and clean around the house. 7d
kspenmoll Been looking for a new audio book- u may have sold me! 7d
catebutler @kspenmoll Let me know what you think! I actually would consider this more of a domestic suspense, than a thriller. I have about an hour left, I haven‘t been able to put it down. 6d

For me, this was very up and down, in terms of how much I was into it. But the last quarter of the book made it worth it. I was super curious as to what the heck was going on, so that kept me going. And I‘m glad I did because once some truths were revealed... 😮.

This audiobook is great fun. The three narrators are all excellent, which is a relief. I tend to stay away from audiobooks that alternate narrators because there is usually one that annoys me. The mystery of a posh house and the family that lived there is well plotted and the characters are well developed. I listened to most of it while shoveling snow, and the story made the work enjoyable.

Twainy Oooo! This was a November BOTM choice for me! I really want to pick it up but I‘ve got 8 more weeks wait on my OverDrive audiobook hold list. A lot of the time I will pick up the book/Paperwhite to supplement the audio but hearing the audio is great ... well I‘ll impatiently wait. 😁 Thank you! 1w

The characters are highly highly developed and rich in detail. Told through multiple perspectives, this compelling and twisty narrative is executed masterfully. Jewell has a knack for creating suspense that is both compelling and sublimely atmospheric.

Disturbing at times, gripping, and often quirky, The Family Upstairs is one of my favourite books this year.

This book was the perfect amount of creepy that made me double check that I had locked my door. Lisa Jewell never disappoints me when it comes to mystery thrillers, this book was wonderfully atmospheric and moody, and multiple narrators made the pacing and mystery juuuuust right.

This is my very first Lisa Jewell, and it brought my faith back in psychological thrillers! Twisted. Sinister. Dark. Suspenseful. All these elements made this such an engrossing read! The ending a little too neat, but it was still a fantastic read overall! Full review on hookedonbookz.com

I stalk my #BOTM box until it arrives. My pick was The Family Upstairs and I added Ninth House because 👏🏻it‘s👏🏻all👏🏻over👏🏻social👏🏻media! But it does sound pretty good. I‘ve been craving a vampire novel, as well as some NOLA, so hopefully The Beautiful will satisfy.

BlameJennyJane Ah, I didn‘t give The Beautiful any consideration and I‘m kicking myself. I LOVE all things NOLA! 1mo
Tera0707 @BlameJennyJane I felt the same way last month! So I waited until this month‘s selections to add it on (sure, I could‘ve bought it somewhere else but I can‘t pass up $9.99 for a hardcover lol). I love anything NOLA too. Hoping to make it back there soon 1mo

A bit of a family-saga, murder mystery spanning 20 years - and just the brain candy I needed! Even though it was a little implausible, particularly near the end, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. Years ago 3 bodies are found dead in a house with a baby crying upstairs, the baby's siblings have disappeared. The baby is all grown up now and about to inherit the house the bodies were found in when she turns 25. A mesmerising read that held my attention from the very first chapter. Told from various perspectives and wraps up into a conclusion that I didn't anticipate.
