I had seen some adaptations (like cruel intentions) so knew the gist of the story, but it still threw in some surprises at the end!
Two former lovers make sport of seduction. From seducing a virtuous married woman, getting a man sent to jail, and between them working to ruin a young woman before her marriage to exact revenge on the would be groom. This epistolary novel is full of seduction, scheming, revenge, and superfluous expressions of love.
It seems I have chosen my second epistolary novel of the month (and year) with my #FoodAndLit pick for #France
Looking forward to starting this one properly!
my first book of the year #audiophile #readinggoal #firstbookoftheyear
This book is amazing! It makes me laugh so hard and at the same time I'm getting so into the characters - they are all impossibly cute, even when they are supposed to be repulsive or stupid! 😍
The 1988th movie is gorgeous, the cast is perfect. Malkovich and Glenn Close have so much chemistry between them ❤️ Keanu Reeves and Uma Thurman are so young and lovely 💔
If your favorite reads always include #dalliance, you can‘t go wrong with this French novel. #beautifulwords @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620
It‘s hard to see all the shades of #purplecover #bibliomaynia Another book on the TBR pile. Oh well. I‘ll get there eventually.

I know we‘re supposed to be thinking about #GoodIntentions, but my (possibly slightly evil) mind went straight to #CruelIntentions, the 1999 teen movie adaption if Les Liaison Dangereuses
#SoulSeptember @Eggs
This used to be one of my favorite movies, but I watch it recently, for the first time in like 10 years, and I didn't find it quite as enjoyable. Seemed more melodramatic than I remembered.
#Liaisons is another episode I had to go back and watch again because it didn't ring any bells with me. It was interesting, a nice cultural exchange. However, Picard and Anna's storyline was fairly predictable.
#StarTrekSummerMay #Liaisons @Megabooks
It‘s shock factory has been swallowed by time but still interesting to read
TNG 7.02 #Liaisons, or as I call it, the rapey episode. 3 alien “diplomats“ go on an expedition onto the Enterprise to experience emotions. №1 focusses on Troy and desserts (creepy), №2 focusses on anger and Worf (creepy) and №3 transforms into a female to trap and seduce Picard (CREEPY AND TRIGGERY). And they get away with it because 'they didn't know better'. I hate this episode so much. Titled after tagged, of course.

1. The Neverending Story (still. I know.)
Les Liasons Dangereuses
2. Utopia by Thomas More
3. Night! I like the feeling of being kind of the only person awake, so I can enjoy the silence around...

St. Patrick's Edition 🍀
1. Done!
2. We don't really celebrate St. Patrick's Day here, only some pubs do... I guess I'll be staying in watching Netflix LOL
3. YES I HAVE!!! 🍀
4. Oh how I wish. It must be beautiful and breathtaking!!!
5. Good luck, everyone!!! 💕🤟🏻🌙

@dariazeoli thank you so much! I am putting together my classics TBR for 2019, and Dangerous Liaisons is now on it. And the Austen, Brontes, and popular culture essays will be so much fun. I love these! 🎄🎁📚❤️ #kindlitsy
Favorite #booktoscreen for hour 18 of #24in48 - but as a major addict of book adaptations, I found this difficult to choose.
@24in48
At last! I‘ve been meaning to read this one for years.
This is high intrigue, deception, envy, jealousy, manipulation, innocence lost, love lost at its best. One of my favorite parts is "Ce n'est pas de ma faute" letter. I still get shivers hearing John Malkovich acting this out in the movie. This is my ultimate epistolary novel. #emojinov ?
It‘s ballet night tonight. Love the way this pair of tickets matches. 💃
The Marquise de Merteuil is an über#bitch in this book. She schemes, manipulates, and enjoys the downfall of the young woman whose virginity she toys with. Still, she is what makes the book worth reading in the first place ?! #Rocktober
I have enjoyed reading a lot of books this year; but these three are my top picks so far... 👍👍👍
#TBRtemptation post 8! #PhillyMeetUp edition! A @valerieandbooks pick! Since this came out in 1782, it's not a recent release 😆👏🏻. It's considered one of the most scandalous and controversial novels in European literature. Vicomte de Valmont and Marquise de Marteuil form an unholy alliance and turn seduction into a game, a game to win at all costs. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Dogs had me up way before the alarm today. Turned that into a positive- more time for coffee and reading before work! #birthdayspace @Liberty
Started this last week while on vacation, but had to set it aside for library holds. Hope to finish it this weekend. Normally I get so irritated with epistolary novels, but so far it's pretty good!
4 stars from me I really enjoyed this novel of self destruction and destruction of society's values from within.
Yes it is melodramatic and over the top and yes the main characters are unlikeable but that just makes them great villains.
I really enjoyed the epistolary form with no actual narrative other than the letters, I also like the footnotes suggesting
Terrifying and brilliant, these (thankfully)
fictional women tick off all the boxes for a diagnosis. #completepsycho #characters2017
I'm reaching here, but #UmaThurman was in the movie "Dangerous Liaisons". ? This is my year to finally read this book (I found this 1979 #FolioSociety edition last summer). #LyricalApril
When I think #bittersweetsymphony, I think the movie Cruel Intentions. Maybe this is the year I finally read the movie's source material- Les Liaisons Dangereuses? 😝#lyricalapril
It is funny that I have watched different versions of this story and just recently learned that they were adapted from this wonderful novel. I love this book so much. It is not my fault. 😅
#favoritevillain Seduction, revenge, malice. La Marquise de Merteuil is the ultimate game player, and in the end everyone knows it as she falls into ruin. #riotgrams
I read this in French back in college and I'd like to re-read it, maybe in English. #epistolary #readjanuary
#ReadJanuary #Epistolary I've always wanted to read this book!
Not an original choice but this is my all time favourite. Read it, listened to it, watched it in its many incarnations I'm only missing seeing it at the theater. #epistolary #readjanuary
An #epistolary novel that's on my reading challenge forecast for this year. #ReadJanuary #FolioSociety
As far as I'm concerned, this is the beginning, middle, and end of great #epistolary novels. There are other excellent ones, and I love the form, but nothing has ever quite measured up to Les liaisons dangereuses.
#readjanuary
I love #epistolary books! Here are 2 that I'm hoping to get to this year. Dangerous Liaisons would be a re-read but I've never read Perks before. #ReadJanuary
Hello! Coming up for air btwn holidays and MFA applying to say I miss you all and will be posting again soon! (Including our famous #bookishbirthdays) Took a break yesterday to see the revival of this play - fantastic performances by Liev Schreiber and Janet McTeer, and some of the most stunning production design I've seen. 👍🏻❤️, soon, Littens! Hang in there and try to have the best day you can.
Humanity is not perfect in any fashion; no more in the case of evil than in that of good. The criminal has his virtues, just as the honest man has his weaknesses.
HAPPY garage sale finds! I already own several of these but now those vintage or leather bound editions can stay untouched.

I haven't been Litsy-ing as much as I usually do as I've been on a little road trip... and that means new (to me) book shops! Here is my find of the day. I've been wanting to read it for years. #TheFolioSociety
Multiple covers of the day...no doubt. It's got to be the one on the right...
