Magnificent wild, metaphorical and organic writing! Suffering & healing story on a canvas of mental health, watery-rocky landscapes, as well as interior and exterior ambiances. But blah, it‘s almost too much writing talent for a story where I didn't get attached to the characters. There are beautiful passages, interesting ideas, I felt the suffering of the first 2/3, but I did not believe in the healing process of the last third, nor the outcome.

Was not my preferred choice, even though it is very well received in the province. But I love bookclub discussions, so here it goes❣️

It‘s the title that led me to this 1928 essay. I‘ve been battling with myself and my family environment on this concept, i.e. everyone at home has their own private room, except me !!! So I hoped to find some views to advance my thinking. Although the context is different, I am blown away by the clarity, insight and resonance of Woolf's observations on the posture of women in literature, as a writer or fictional character, and in life generally.

The spiritual & historical fiction premise of this book is totally my style. I liked the story, from the perspective of a young Chinese girl and her 3 souls. Even if the 2nd part has its lengths, once in the 3rd, I could not put it down! Beautiful story of atonement, against a background of Chinese culture and politics.

#ReadCanada #Manitoba - Interesting view of a loving supportive sibling & daughter. Kind family, artistic genius, mental illness, depression, difficult request, support, doubt, fear, suicide, deception, loving relationships. I did not feel that her sorrows, as the healthy sister, were so puny. There were great moments, but it just dragged on to long for my attention. Not great for me; lost interest, but read to the end. Half read/half audio 🎧
Lovely moving read. Short stories relating the human condition in regards to unfaithfulness, death, love, the passage of time and the silence of all that is not said.

I quite enjoyed this one, even though it was heavy in regards to Bible references. I feel they covered all the situations in regards to boundaries setting, giving good explanations and examples. I found it to be enlightening and helpful.

After reading The Courage to be Disliked, this summer, I‘m starting the first of this 5 books collection tonight. I found his way to relating to life‘s drama worth digging into 😉 #psychology
What a peculiar way to write about trauma, in this case sexual, but I can transfer to my own, which is different. The bird as an outside metaphor of all that is inside, especially the self-violence, is fabulous. It is so powerful, that I will never look at a humming bird the same way again. The end blew me out of the water! I guess I can see it as accepting what is, making the best of it and healing.

Between a Pick and a So-So. I‘m a fan of the Practical Magic Movie, so I came in favorable and hopeful. Though I got attached to Franny, Jet & Vincent, I would of enjoyed more assumed magic. I felt they were denying who they where too much. I prefer full assumed witches stories🤷🏻♀️I liked it but... Last sentence “ Know that the only remedy for love is to love more “ was ❣️
“ Once upon a time, before the whole world changed, it was possible to run away from home, disguise who you were, and fit into polite society. “

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Another beautiful story of unique characters. I love it when I‘m transported "elsewhere" through caracters filled with constraints and then feel the them open up to the next level in their spiral of life, thanks to self love and the help of those new people around. Britt-Marie is a late bloomer who has a vision of the world that goes from XXS to L? ? Heartwarming ??

It is with regret that I decided to end this #AudioBook this morning. The story seems interesting, but I am unable to let myself be carried away by the narrator's jerky and borderline aggressive tone 🤷🏻♀️This is a though book; bullying, homophobia and suicide are at its core. I will try to read it in a paper format later on, in the hopes of using my own rhythm and intonation, in order to enjoy it.
Been sort of away the last few weeks, but starting this one tonight. I 💗 the spiritual teachings of that woman.
It's a lovely, yet a sad one, that ends well. It is written with the flowery & serene perspective of Violette, but the drama is real. I didn't see the thriller coming; naively, I thought I was listening to a “high-end“ RomCom, oops! 😮 I was blown away by the writing style, the words, the sentences, the organization of the narrative, the images, the smells, the singularities of the characters, endearing or not and the choral storylines. #Franco
Sorry to be late to the party. Thanks to @katy4peas for the tag.
1. I was doing good with the #3books, but I fell behind.

✨BINGO! This is my second 😊
I enjoyed this book, it gave this white privileged woman many eye opening and emotional situations to reflect on. I‘ve always had much respect for people who immigrate, courageous is what they are to me. I have to say though that I found it to long and composed of too many characters, causing a slight lost of interest towards the end.

Even though this rates well, was media focused and won a provincial literary prize in 2015, this was sooo not for me. I just didn‘t connect with the main character or any other. I felt a little overwhelmed for the parents at the end, but that‘s it. Not my subject, not my crowd, not a language I like to read. The title & cover are beautiful though. It will be a polarized discussion 😉
