The Westin Hotel Boston Waterfront houses a Starbucks. Started my morning with coffee. Later today I plan to venture out in the cold & visit some local coffee shops nearby.

From Quarantine to Q Station: Honouring the Past, Securing the Future | Dannielle Viera, Jennifer Cornwell, Simon McArthur, Arbon Publishing Staff, Peter Hobbins, Annie Clarke, Ursula Frederick

#ChillingPhotoChallenge #day8 #Ghostly There‘s been a few books written about the ghosts of the Q Station at the mouth of Sydney Harbour. I have 1st Hand experience of them, I took the ghost tour with my 2 eldest a few years ago & it scared the hell out of me. I heard, felt & saw things I can‘t explain, including a figure on the same verandah as in the B&W pic above. I highly recommend a visit. #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter 2points #PointsTotal-132

Lizpixie And it‘s now been turned into a hotel! I‘m not sure you could pay me enough to stay there overnight😱 2mo
Stacypatrice @Lizpixie That‘s so cool!!!! 2mo

Lizpixie @ferskner it was about 10yrs ago now I think. Myself, my eldest daughter & son went on a lantern light tour of the Station. It was a smallish group & I was the last person crossing the yard in front of the hospital building which is one of those old buildings with a wraparound verandah & one story in front & two at back. I started hearing footsteps behind me & assumed there was a Parks employee joining us but I turned around & there was noone👇👇 2mo
Lizpixie Thought I was hearing things so kept going, soon as I turned back, the footsteps started again, louder like boots then there was a swishing noise like a great coat makes when you walk fast. I bolted to catch up with the group & as I turned the corner of the verandah I spun around & took a picture with my phone. When we looked at it later it was all black except for a white outline right in the middle. And that wasn‘t the only thing that happened👇 2mo
kamoorephoto SCARY and yet so cool. I twice worked on movies in previous psychiatric hospitals and holy crapazoid, I can not explain how CHILLING it felt to be on the property filming...especially when we made patient rooms look ‘lived in‘ again. I didn‘t want to be in the bathrooms alone either; it just felt like there was a presence. It was so eerie, and I‘m not usually scared very easily, honestly...!!! 😱 2mo
Lizpixie It‘s built on a steep hill down to the water & when the tour finished at the shower blocks near the dock, my knees were so sore I couldn‘t make it back up so they told us to wait at the bend above the showers(which have the most awful atmosphere),till she could come back with the Ute. As we waited, on our own, at midnight, I swear I could feel eyes watching us, the kids could feel it too. By the time she got back we were in a huddle under 👇👇 2mo
Lizpixie the streetlight. It felt like we were being surrounded by things that did not want us there. I don‘t know how people can sleep there, I‘d try if you paid me enough, but there‘d be no sleeping I can guarantee that!👻 2mo
kamoorephoto @Lizpixie I‘d go with you!!! 2mo
ferskner OH. MY. GOSH. That is AMAZING!!!!! I'm not a fan of "I saw orb" ghost stories but yours is legit! 2mo

The First World War | John Keegan
post image

#RedRoseSeptember #Day8 #History The Great War has always been a part of history that interests me. The fact that the human race said it was “the war to end all wars” then just over 20 years later did it all again boggles my mind. The horror of the Somme & Gallipoli should never have been repeated but people are stupid unfortunately. In doing my family history I found numerous relatives who were there, and a few that never made it back. #warsucks

arlenefinnigan We visited the Flanders Fields museum in Ypres and they have a display that lists all the wars since the 'war to end all wars'. Heartbreaking. 3mo
Cinfhen Beautiful post , Liz 💚 3mo
Freespirit Unfortunately we repeat the same mistakes! 3mo
gradcat I love what you‘ve written here...it definitely “boggles the mind,” and furthermore warrants keeping upfront in human memory, as well as history. ♥️ 3mo

The Kept Woman | Karin Slaughter
post image

#AyUpAugust #Day8 #DontMarryHer Reading The Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter, you really wish someone had stood up & screamed at Will “DONT MARRY HER!” as soon as he thought about marrying Angie Polaski aka Devil Woman. This character is one of the most devious, manipulative, twisted & thoroughly evil character of either sex I‘ve ever read. Kudos to Ms Slaughter for her ability to believably write the most damaged characters.

squirrelbrain Good one - and I love your picture! 🎃 4mo

Working for the Devil | Lilith Saintcrow
post image

#AugustABC #Day8 #HolyHell This series was the first Lilith Saintcrow books I‘d ever read, I loved them so much I‘ve now read everything she‘s written. My favourites are the Jill Kismet books but these are fantastic as well. Dante Valentine is a necromance who raises the dead for a living. Until the devil wants her for a job & sends his right-hand-man Japhrimel to make her an offer she can‘t refuse. Holy hell indeed.

Eggs Yeahhhhh 👿🖤😈 4mo

My bf and I are headed out of town again this weekend, and we have a 2 hour drive to get to my hometown of Seward, AK to visit my family and enjoy the outdoors. We plan on going on a hike tomorrow as it‘s supposed to be a nice day.

We will be continuing our listen of the tagged audiobook for our drive down and back home. Almost halfway through!

DS9 3.04 #Equilibrium The crew has Sunday dinner! Epi focusses on Trill culture & biology and how memories create identity. A procedural mystery, follows clues that could indicate Jadzia is going insane or that something was done to her. The answer has long term consequences for Jadzia and Ezri. More b&w morally than most other DS9 episodes.

Equilibrium is an economics concept, but Tipping Point is at least interesting.

keithmalek All of Gladwell's books are interesting. I'll give him that. The problem is that they're also wrong and poorly thought out. 6mo
tournevis @keithmalek He wasn't *wrong* about tipping points in popular culture, but he's a lot of flash and much less substance, that's for sure. 6mo
Megabooks It sets up for Field of Fire, which I liked a lot better than this episode. The hug in the symbiont pool was a bit lame. Can I get Odo to stir my cake batter, though?? (edited) 6mo
tournevis @Megabooks Auberjonois's performance in comedy is always so perfect! 6mo

TNG 7.02 #Liaisons, or as I call it, the rapey episode. 3 alien “diplomats“ go on an expedition onto the Enterprise to experience emotions. №1 focusses on Troy and desserts (creepy), №2 focusses on anger and Worf (creepy) and №3 transforms into a female to trap and seduce Picard (CREEPY AND TRIGGERY). And they get away with it because 'they didn't know better'. I hate this episode so much. Titled after tagged, of course.

#startreksummermay #day8

Megabooks It is pretty creepy! That dude was OBSESSED with deserts. If Troi is sick of chocolate, that‘s bad!!! 7mo
tournevis @Megabooks I hated that episode in 1993 and I still do now. I don't ever watch. 7mo
