I am using this doubly because Evelyn's #liaisons made me think so hard about #ethics and how important they are to me!
#StarTrekSummerMay

Megabooks Nice choice! I liked this one way more than Daisy Jones! 5y

If #Liaisons was the rapey episode, #Violations is exactly what it says on the tin. I'm skipping that one. See you folks tomorrow. #startreksummermay

Megabooks Sorry! I wasn‘t thinking clearly when I chose such a triggery episode. I‘m far from perfect. Hopefully see you with Future Imperfect tomorrow!! 5y
tournevis @Megabooks Not your fault! I blame Berman and Paramount. 5y

#TheChase is one of my favorite episodes. In it, the major aliens in the show and the Enterprise crew are in a race to gather DNA samples from various planets to put together to solve a puzzle.

I thought the message was positive, and it explained why all the aliens look similar 😉

One of my favorite chase-centered books & movies is Catch Me If You Can. It was one of my favorite pieces of nonfiction when I started reading again after vet school.

Megabooks #StarTrekSummerMay PS I‘m sorry #Liaisons was such an unpopular choice. Please don‘t watch tomorrow‘s episode #Violations if rape is a TW for you. 💜 5y
khooliha I don't think you need to feel bad about Liaisons! It falls in the weird realm of season 7, where sometimes episodes feel a little half-baked because of planning for the finale/Generations. I think it just needed a little more polish. 5y
khooliha As for Violations... the thing about it is that is a sadly typical episode for Deanna, who deserved better from the writers almost everytime they decided to make her the focus of the ep. 5y

Megabooks @khooliha Yes, TNG had one of the worst final seasons of any Trek. I on the other hand, DS9‘s was pretty good. 5y
Megabooks @khooliha Marina was a better actress than the treatment she was given. I‘m glad DS9 and VOY had stronger female roles. 5y
khooliha @Megabooks Season 7 of TNG is really ueven, but anything with Lower Decks, All Good Things, and one of my favorite Trek guilty pleasures Genesis can't be all bad. I remember season 7 of DS9 feeling like a rollercoaster, though I'm not sure I could pinpoint why. 5y
khooliha @Megabooks Both Deanna and Beverly were let down by the writers and it's probably the number one thing I wish TNG did better. Imagine if they got the kind of writing Kira, Be'lanna, or Seven did! 5y
Megabooks @khooliha Agree on Lower Decks and Genesis! Just watching Michael Dorn tear up that mattress in Genesis was fun. 😝. I didn‘t love DS9 season 7 until I watched the episodes a second or third time. Now it has some of my fav episodes. I caught Covenant on TV the other day 👍🏻👍🏻! 5y
Megabooks @khooliha Yes! Yes! On the women of the 24th century Treks. 5y
Moodyreader ohhh i love star trek ❤️ 5y
Megabooks @Moodyreader awesome! I‘d love for you to join the photo challenge if you want. You can find it under this book. I‘m doing a different series each month. 😁👍🏻 5y
AvidReader25 I‘m rewatching Star Trek TNG for the first time in years. So good! 5y
tournevis I like this episode too! 5y
tournevis @Megabooks Seconded 5y
tournevis @khooliha @Megabooks Not the writers' fault so much as Rick Berman's. The only reason there were better women characters in DS9 is Ira Behr and in VOY is Mulgrew herself (the fits she had to throw). Berman is a terrible sexist, racist and homophobic para-person. 5y
khooliha @tournevis Oh yeah, Berman is trash. I listened to the 50 Year Mission books and yelled WTF at a lot of his comments. By the end I was boo-ing. 5y
tournevis @khooliha If you get a chance to watch What We Left Behind (coming out next week) on DS9, the whole crew and Ira Behr spend a good third of it shitting on Berman, pardon my French. 5y
khooliha @tournevis I'm going to try to catch the doc in theaters! I'm very excited. 5y
tournevis @khooliha Me too! 5y
Megabooks @Avidreader25 I watched it on dvd 11 years after the last episode and fell in love again! 5y
Megabooks @tournevis @khooliha Yes, I‘ve been hearing about the doc a lot on twitter!! I want to see it. Rick Berman is trash. That‘s all there is! I googled “Rick Berman ruined Star Trek” back when I was doing a rewatch 10 years ago, and no one agreed. What?!??! And Jake and Nog aka the NoJake Consortium have a podcast now. Just FYI if you didn‘t know. 5y
khooliha @Megabooks I did not know that! It is Very Pertinent to my interests. 5y
tournevis @khooliha @Megabooks No gays in ST before Disco? Berman. Terry Farrell got fired? Berman. Seven of Nine? Played by his then girlfriend (Ryan hates him now too). Deanna Troy getting assaulted multiple times in cannon? Berman. He's trash. 5y
Megabooks @tournevis I thought Jeri dated Brannon Braga. And I thought Terry left to do Becker. Does she say something different in the doc? 5y
tournevis @Megabooks So Jeri did date Bragga. But things got “complicated“. Terry did not leave to do Becker. She was forced out because she asked for accommodations to do other work (that the other actors got) and getting fewer storylines, among other crap. So she was fired by Berman. Ira Behr is on record as saying he had not known about the crap she was subjected to and was told by Berman she left of her own volition. 5y
Megabooks @tournevis Interesting. I want to watch the doc!!! I feel bad for Jeri. She‘s dated/married some bad men. (Jack Ryan sex club, anyone?) I‘m really glad Berman is not doing ST anymore. On the lighter side, I think it‘s adorable that Terri is married to Adam Nimoy. I hope they‘re happy. 5y
tournevis @Megabooks Me too. It's a good ending. In the US, I think that the only day the doc will be in theaters is 13 May. In Canada, you get a few more days. I saw theaters advertize it for 13, 15 and 18 May. My ticket is for the 18th. 5y
Megabooks @tournevis @khooliha new Nana Vistor interview https://sciencefiction.com/2019/05/08/exclusive-interview-nana-visitor-talks-sta.... And she‘s in a Lifetime movie this weekend! https://www.mylifetime.com/movies/killer-grandma I‘d be interested to see her as a grandmother!! 5y
tournevis @Megabooks Great interview! As for the movie, not in Canada, looks like. 5y
Megabooks @tournevis It was a great interview! Boo on the movie. I‘ve set up to record it. I love seeing fav ST actors in other roles. 5y
Cinfhen Wow!!! Lots of Trekkie talk!!!! When I see The Chase I think of my lovely friend @jenniferw88 💕💕😁 5y
Megabooks @Cinfhen We Trekkies definitely have opinions!! Have you seen the episode?? I think you put a dozen Trekkies in a room and you‘ll get six dozen ideas about the series, Trek in general, actors, producers, etc! It‘s a really vibrant community! 5y
Cinfhen I‘ve never seen a single episode or any of the films 🙈 can we still be friends?!?!!! 😘😘😘 5y
Megabooks @Cinfhen of course, my dear! 😘😘 It‘s never too late to become a Trekkie, though 😉😉🖖🏻🖖🏻 5y
Cinfhen Ha, you might just convert me 🧡 5y
jenniferw88 @Megabooks @Cinfhen funnily enough, there was a tweet a couple of weeks ago by one of the chasers about this episode and the definition of racism in it! Typically I can't find it now! 🤣🤣🤣 5y

This used to be one of my favorite movies, but I watch it recently, for the first time in like 10 years, and I didn't find it quite as enjoyable. Seemed more melodramatic than I remembered.

#Liaisons is another episode I had to go back and watch again because it didn't ring any bells with me. It was interesting, a nice cultural exchange. However, Picard and Anna's storyline was fairly predictable.

#StarTrekSummerMay #Liaisons @Megabooks

Megabooks And I felt they pretty much revisited the Picard part in VOY season 5 episode 13, Gravity. I didn‘t particularly enjoy that storyline in the TNG episode nor in the VOY one. I thought Troi getting sick of chocolate was a little amusing. 😝 5y

Megabooks Very appropriate for the episode. The ambassadors on TNG kinda went about it wrong, but your quote is the way I wish things were always done in the world. Again amazing visual!! 5y
LiterRohde @Megabooks As soon as I read it, I thought that it sounded like a philosophy from the Star Trek Universe. I‘ve only recently become a fan, so I‘ve worked through ENT and I‘m in the middle of TOS. 5y
Megabooks I‘m a sucker for the three 24th century ones: TNG, DS9, and VOY. Right now, I‘m liking DS9 the most. It was so ahead of its time! I haven‘t watch Disco yet because I still can‘t imagine paying for CBS All Access just for that. 5y
LiterRohde @Megabooks I won‘t do that either with Discovery. I‘m hoping it gets picked up by a streaming service some day. I started ENT on a whim and loved it, so I‘m working my way slowly through them all. (edited) 5y
Megabooks @LiterRohde it‘s on Netflix outside of the US, so I‘m hoping it will come on Netflix US someday. 5y

TNG 7.02 #Liaisons, or as I call it, the rapey episode. 3 alien “diplomats“ go on an expedition onto the Enterprise to experience emotions. №1 focusses on Troy and desserts (creepy), №2 focusses on anger and Worf (creepy) and №3 transforms into a female to trap and seduce Picard (CREEPY AND TRIGGERY). And they get away with it because 'they didn't know better'. I hate this episode so much. Titled after tagged, of course.

#startreksummermay #day8

Megabooks It is pretty creepy! That dude was OBSESSED with deserts. If Troi is sick of chocolate, that‘s bad!!! 5y
tournevis @Megabooks I hated that episode in 1993 and I still do now. I don't ever watch. 5y

In the Star Trek: TNG episode #Liaisons, three ambassadors are sent to the Enterprise to experience three of the seven deadly sins: wrath, gluttony, and lust/love that they don‘t have in their society. It‘s not, erh, one of the best episodes. Pictured is gluttony ambassador.

Tampa is the only book I‘ve read that incorporates all three, and probably all seven. Oh Celeste, you‘re crazy! I use this in every photo challenge! 😂😳 #StarTrekSummerMay
